Struggle in Killer's hold mechanic needs a change!

Devs have been talking about a lot of changes to dbd lately, even down to the hook struggle mecahnic being changed to PH's cage struggle mechanic.

One that remains untouched, unchanged, not mentioned, is the killer carrying a survivor struggle mecahnic.

It is horendously bad, especially on PC. I have broken my A and D buttons in the past because of this due to countless times I have had to smash AD to struggle free.

It's not fun, it does not even register the press every single time, so there are presses that skip and the bar does not progress steadily. It's extremely frustating when you are about to get free but did not make it in time and you know you should have, had the presses registered as they should.

There has to be a better way to do the "struggle free from hold" mechanic.

I don't understand these "i break my keyboard" comments

You know mashing buttons is a figure of speach right? Gently pressing the buttons works just as well

For people who think this is about smashing in literal meaning to point where I break my keyboard like a raging little kid, come on guys... What I meant was that over the years as I have played this game almost daily, these two buttons wear out to a point where it is no wonder why my A and D keys suddenly stop working where as other letters work just fine. It is just the nature of this game that rapidly tapping A and D is bound to wear them out over time. Same is true for the space bar when struggling on hook.

Also, even if we ignore the breaking part, can we just agree that the struggle mechanic is simply not fun nor smooth. I doubt that many of you can get the bar to progress in steady clean pace if not using some bot program that presses the keys for you that some people like to use.

Nope, never had a problem struggling smoothly before. Like the people above said, if you are damaging your keyboard spamming those buttons you are doing it very wrong. You don't even need to press them that fast, you just need to be steady which isn't hard to get used to.

I play PS4 so I just spin my analogue stick in circles. Works smoothly.

I agree that mashing mechanic needs to go. Skillcheck is a much better alternative and keeps the survivor engaged even while on a hook and eliminates cases where the survivor just kills themself.

I play with a PS4 controller on Steam. I had a cheaper generic controller previously that I think did die due to insane swirling, but again it was a 20 dollar thing from China.

Way back in the time tunnel I had a friend who would complain the struggle mechanic was destroying his controller because the "side to side" motion was breaking his analogue stick.

He was dumbfounded when I showed him you just spin in circles.

I’ll say there is one big problem with it unless your team intervenes you won’t wiggle off ( this is of course if killer wants nearby hooks not adding in if they want basement or something and it’s out of range) but like if they buff it they would have a lot of perks to nerf as well as sabotaging which already got a change
