Dead by Daylight Workshop Mode

Hello everybody, before I get into this, I do in fact acknowledge that the developers will probably never change the fact that this game is 1 v 4, period. I'm just sharing this cool idea that has been going around among some of my friends.

Also, please don't comment about more modes making queue times longer, I already know this :/

Dead by Daylight Workshop Mode

What do I mean by this, Well, basically, this would allow developers and artists to essentially make mods for the game that others could download. This idea is similar to Overwatch's workshop or like Terraria's Tmodloader. Hopefully you are familiar with one of those.

This would allow people to create there own perks, survivors, killers, maps, etc. Not only do I think this would be really fun, but I also think it would draw a lot of attention to the game if the community could have such a big part in the game. People could code in custom game modes such as prop hunt, tag, 2 v 8, stuff like that.

How would this work?

This could all be stored in the Steam Workshop for custom maps and models, or an external website for perks a characters. All I'm saying is that it would be cool if Behavior actually supported modding, and there was a whole other section of the game specifically for that. Because sometimes, we just need to cool off from the normal game. (It gets pretty heated sometimes)

MAPS:

Either an external program or an in-game editor. We could choose a realm as a base for the atmosphere and tiles to put in the map, then customize it to our liking. Yes, this would remove RNG, but remember that this would only be available to you and friends in a custom game so that wouldn't matter that much anyway. The map would show up in the vanilla map selection screen under a new tab labeled "Workshop" or "Subscribed Maps"

CHARACTERS:

Artists could model characters that they wish to be in the game as a sort of fan art, and publish it to the workshop. Then, some developers would create code for the characters powers. This of course requires support from BHVR, as they would have to provide a template of sorts for all the hooks and vars the game uses. Just pretending this was already provided, developers could attach their code to a model they find on the workshop to create a custom killer. (NOTE: Code would only be required for a killer, survivor's would only need a 3D model and animation to work as a custom character)

PERKS:

You can pickup some perk's code as a template and edit it. Just with the killer power, BHVR would need to provide a wiki for the hooks and vars, but it wouldn't be that hard to make a custom perk after knowing these things. Then, the perk would be identified as a killer or survivor perk, throw a custom image on it and boom. This would then be published to the workshop and show up in the custom game perk list if subscribed to.

ITEMS:

This would be more difficult, but if you wanted to you could either use vanilla code for an item and just make a new variant of it, or you could code in a brand new item of your own. Both of these would be very cool. Just how we have the fourth year flashlight, you could just re texture a flashlight and label it as a new item. That would be pretty cool.

GAME MODES:

Depending on what BHVR uses to script, this would be similar to how game modes are created on Garry's Mod. This of course would only be available to experienced developers.

CREATE MODE:

If you have ever played Overwatch, you are probably familiar with its new workshop mode, which lets anybody, yes anybody, create custom content in the game. It is simply just a bunch of puzzle pieces ready to be rearranged. Similar to how the development program Scratch works. This new mode would just be that. So that non-developers can make custom content too. Say for example I want to make a mode where all windows on the map get blocked when a generator is completed. I would just attach some blocks that say "GENERATOR COMPLETE" = "ENTITY BLOCK". Something like that.

Thanks for listening to my Ted Talk.

On a serious note, let me know what you think about all this.

I don't think I would play anything else if this existed.

This isn't a bad idea in theory. If I remember correctly 25% of overwatch playerbase is in this mode. However overwatch is highly modular. From what I read dbd is "spaghetti code" which I think might be the barrier to this being implemented. However i would enjoy this.

This is a good and very bad idea at the same time.I like the idea of new gamemodes made by the community, gamemodes and maps.but characters and perks are a very bad idea to implement,Because this make a news perks totally broken for survivor or killer sided making a more unfair advantage to the other role.Same with the items,Characters are nothing wrong with that but...¿What is the point to make trailers and official killers/survivors if you can create them with this mode? This will only ruin the hype of people expecting more collaborations like Pennywise,Alien Xenomorph,Jason Vorhess and more. Also many games that have custom gamemodes are extremely inactive.this would not be an exception.

This sounds a good idea in good hands

But a terrible idea in bad hands that make the game more unbalanced and frustrating.
