If you use 2, what’s your slowdown perk combo?

So for most killers I’ve been running a setup of BBQ, discordance, and then two slowdown perks. I prefer Surge and Sloppy because they’re passive but I’m wondering what other people use or suggest?

I know Pop is good but I really dislike travel and kick time, plus it feels like the first gen I find is at like 10% anyways so it’s a waste and on my way to the next gen I see someone to chase.

I'm a rank 19 killer, so for low ranks (when matchmaking works) then distressing is good because low rank survivors are a nervous bunch and as soon as they hear the heartbeat they hide and don't do gens.

Other perk I use for slow down is pop.

BTW corrupt is good if your Trapper, actually gives you a bit of time to lay some traps

Pop is disgustingly strong when used right. Surge and Sloppy are both good, but they're both also taking up a perk slot that could be used on Pop.

With that said, there are some killers that Pop doesn't make a ton of sense on. I would probably prefer Sloppy to Pop on Hag, for example, since she doesn't need to focus on gens as much and people will probably try to heal through the Sloppy because it's really dangerous to stay injured against Hag. So, either they're wasting tons of time healing or they're going to be easy pickings whenever they trigger a trap.

Pop and Surveillance, Discordance and Sloppy, Surge and Surveillance, or my all-time favourite, Sloppy and Nurses.

None of them are full slowdown combo's, but that's because slowdown combo's in DbD suck (for the most part). Forever Legion and Forever Freddy are the only two that actually have some merit, all the rest tend to backfire because you end up trying to slow down the game instead of playing into your killers strengths and weaknesses. But, the combo's I use serve to slow down the game quite nicely by telling you exactly where to apply the slowing-down pressure. (Or forcing them to run away into a corner to heal.)

    Depends on the killer.

    1. Pop and Corrupt on killers like Myers, Huntress, Trapper and Oni.
    2. Pop and Ruin on Legion and Doctor. This is mainly because Ruin is excellent on these killers but just incase it's destroyed early I have a back up.

Pop is pretty much on every killer. Discordance I have on Freddy and Legion.

I always think if a killer doesn't need any chase perks then I'll run slowdown. So I'm sorry to say my Freddy has 3 gen perks.

Ruin and sloppy. I play mostly hit and run with killers like wraith/hag/ghostface so sloppy gives me good value even if I drop chases very quickly.

Ruin is just incredible while it's still alive if you are using discordance and sloppy to actively shove people off generators. I also hate having to give someone a big head start in a chase just so I can kick their gen first. Sometimes it dies in 30 seconds but other games it can give you like 2-3 extra gens worth of time.

Ruin+Corrupt is really good too, and with a high mobility killer I almost consider the first 2 minutes of the game "free" since while ruin is up no real progress will be made on the first 4 gens and you can start clearing out the pallets nearby.

Thanks all so far for suggestions!

Im thinking I may test this for a bit, I do enjoy hit and run. Injuring survivors and rotating so they’re always healing and as long as Ruin is active that should equate to a lot of passive regression.

Pop is so good, maybe I just need to use it more and get a feel for it better. I’ve also heard a lot of people state you don’t have to use it every time you activate it, even 3-4 Pops per game is a lot of regression, do you agree?

100%, yes. Each time you pop a gen with Pop that has more than 25% progress on it, you're saving 20 seconds of solo repair time on that gen. 3-4 Pops is 60-80 seconds, which is a massive amount of wasted time from one perk slot. That's just the time benefit, though. Survivors also might have to stay on gens that are almost done to make sure you can't pop them, which can feed you free hits. Survivors might also not tap a gen that's regressing with Pop in some situations (e.g. you just downed a survivor) so that you can't just come back and pop it again. It can also pretty much single-handedly win games in a three-gen situation when all relevant gens are close enough to pop. I actually think it needs a nerf for exactly this reason!

Pop is strong, but against a good team it can be hard to utilize it well. If you are downing people super fast and popping gens left and right, well you probably didn't need it to win anyways. On low mobility killers I find that the gen I want to pop gets finished as I am walking to it alot of the time, and stopping to kick a gen gives the person who was working on it alot of time to get distance.

And really, 20 seconds off 1 gen isn't that much when you consider 3 survivors working on gens is progressing the game at 3 gen ticks per second so you really only regress ~6.5 seconds off the cumulative survivors work if the full team is alive. I find I usually get much more value out of aggressive chase or snowball perks since the best pressure in the game is downing survivors quickly, not regressing gens.

The only killer I have it equipped on is Freddy right now, since it's just disgusting to teleport right to a gen to pop it.

Corrupt and Pop or Ruin and Surveillance.

I wouldn't call it a gen slowing build but if I am able to push people off gens I'm liking ruin+surveillance. Once a gen turns white I will know if they go back to it.

    This!

superior to a good rng pig, but extra box extra trap with good rng pig using sloppy thana pop is a strong slow.

legion before the nerf with extra mend time and thana sloppy pop was really good

    Corrupt and sloppy

But I call them delay perks

i use surge pop and thrill. work like a charm. Surge hoping to get a gen or two regressed close by from the down. Pick them up and look for gens far away to use pop on. Its insanely good on any 115 killer. I like it on clown as well as legion. It kills gens all over the map and once you get the combo off once its insanely hard for the survivors to come back from it. Especially if you pressure the gens and ignore the hook. The last perk is up to you. I like running noed in case theyre godlike survivors and somehow get through the combo, or i cant pull it off in a timely manner. Then they get to deal with noed because likely, they havent done any totems with all the gen pressure. The longer they last with this build the more danger theyre in

sloppy can be unreliable if they dont heal though, pop is the best choice right now until it gets nerfed. You get rewarded for doing your job, unlike sloppy.

As much as I like Thrilling Trenors BBQ is close enough in power and effect that I run it for points

Pop and Corrupt is the best combo imho. You can also use Ruin and Surveillance on high movitilty killers, force them off gens. But risky, once ruin is gone, you also loose the most value of Surveillance.

I dont rate Slopy that high, it does not really work on better ranks because people simple dont heal that much because they are confident in looping you only with one heath state. Thana is a better option.

    Kind regards

I typically find out where the survivors live and send over a guy to yell FREE PIZZAS outside their door. In the mass confusion and pizza fueled frenzy I then proceed to kill all the afk survivors.

Best slowdown method I have found so far.

Legion is strong *now* with thana & pop. And then discordance with 4th perk slot being a flex spot.

  • bkillerc
    bkillerc Member Posts: 142

Oh agreed! He certainly is, but I think when frenzy triggered sloppy it was a better slow (if survivors healed)

True! I used to run sloppy with it - it went really nice with the other perks. It always confuses me when I play against a legion not running thana. One of the few killers I find it strong on.

thana? thana is useless even on legion. Its only good on slowdown freddy. Its more psychological for survivors. But the numbers gained from even all four survivors is mere seconds. Not worth the slot on legion.
