Disconnect between Devs and the Community is the real problem

I am going to preface this by saying that I have been playing this game on console since late 2016/early 2017, I have been watching content creators on both sides ever since and I also play both sides myself.

I think its only fair to praise as well if I am going criticise. I like the fact that BHVR have several community staff within their team, you only have to look at games like COD where their interaction is close to nil. Its great that we can chat with the community team on this and other platforms, but I feel a lot of the times our feedback doesn't go beyond them to those making the decisions or it seems to fall on deaf ears a lot.

I am not going to go into the issues that plague both sides, because I feel that this forum is really divided, its rare to see someone with balanced arguments - usually its people arguing changes for one side without considering what it does to the other. So adding anything for one side will trigger the other and I want to avoid that.

You can also look at the content creators we have on this forum @GoodBoyKaru @SpaceCoconut @ScottJund (sorry if I missed any others).

I watched Space Coconut's video about the recent changes and couldn't find myself disagreeing with him. Scott has recently made several good videos about issues within the game and community for both sides. There are plenty of other content creators who echo the same sentiment.

Some of these issues have been in the game for years, so why aren't the devs engaging with the us about them. All we keep getting are the surveys and I am yet to see anything substantial come out of them or we have Q&As where the Devs seem generally dismissive or say something along the lines that 'we will look into it when we can' (and I know how that goes).

Why does game health feel secondary to cosmetics and chapters? I know the business wants to make money and their is nothing wrong with that but surely issues like bugs and gameplay issues should be at the forefront.

Why do we not have more community driven content in the game (not just cosmetics)? Why can't we vote for a non licensed killer/survivor or have community driven events?

I want to be excited about the direction this game is heading in and I want this community to be more cohesive. So please keep the chat civil and tell me what more do you think needs to be done to this game to get it to a better place?

[Please be general in your answers]

Edit: added in Devs - in case they want to give their two cents.

I would like to see existing bugs fixed and fewer new bugs introduced each update. I'm confused how so many new ones are introduced when I assume they're running QA before releasing.

It does feel like cosmetics are the priority, and I'd assume that's because people are spending money on them.

I agree with most of your points.

It came to a point for me where I felt like I was JUST a dollar sign. I know companies are in it to make money, but I feel like our enjoyment isn't just the second priority, it's like the 3rd or 4th or 5th on the list.

There are members of the team that care. You can tell they do when you listen to them talk, or you read their posts. And the core game is a great thing. I just feel incredibly underappreciated as a customer.

Don't mention it, I see you three interact with the forums a lot so its only fair to add you too. Keep up the content - I watch your VODs for PH content.

At one point I would have disagreed with you. After the aura changes today I gotta say I'm more inclined to think you are right. I simply can't understand how anyone that actually played with these aura changes actually thinking they were a good idea. The only thing that makes since is the people implementing these changes don't play the game enough to realize how ridiculous this change was.

I've worked for enough companies to know "We'll look into it" is management slang for "Go the #@$% away".

"Their changes feel more like someone altering something based on spreadsheets and statistics, rather than getting a genuine feel for the game and the changes."

This feels like one of the big points to me. Especially when there are many, many flaws in the statistics and data they've collected. I know they must be aware of that because of how they point out that the data shouldn't be taken at face value for balancing, but even though that is said, it feels like what they do.

Honestly the balance and the QA teams are the only areas where the game has been suffering for years imo. Generally speaking I think the other teams have been doing a pretty great job for the most part. I know people take a lot of issues with their monetization, but I actually think their price structures have been more than generous compared to most games.

The complete lack of quality control is really sad. People noticed massive fps drops and lag within 30 seconds of loading in after this patch. Are you doing any QA whatsoever? I'm still dead blinking down hallways on Midwich and the only Nurse bug fix was a mori animation (?). It's like quality and game health are near the bottom of their priority list.

    Maps that are literal squares

Selling linked cosmetics for full price that can’t be customized

Rediculous bugs that by all logic shouldn’t exist (Survivors making 0 noise from anything, A cake offering that is a copy+paste that doesn’t work)

    Aura Changes

Little to no explanation on changes made

Mindblowingly bad addons (.2 faster when a flashlight is used, REALLY??)

    the list goes on

I agree, plus FPS on console has been atrocious for years. I think many would agree Midwich is pooly designed map for both sides (though not sure how much creative freedom they had with this one).

Yeah it feels like that tbh. I have been reluctant to say anything in the past, but it feels like being in a rudderless boat atm.
