Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

So About This Latest Patch

Ho. Lee. Carp.

I've put a lot of hours into this game. A lot. A lot a lot. Far too many. It means I notice the patterns of things since I see them all the time. And this latest patch? For me, personally? God-awful.

I've had intermittent latency things happen on this game ever since dedicated servers were introduced; everyone does. My thing is a slight stagger or delay whenever there's a change in status (even someone else's, like taking a first injury, or Wraith uncloaking). But right after the 4.1.0 mid-chapter patch? It is happening every few seconds.

I was inclined to give the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it was that one killer since the ping was a little high. Maybe it was just the new chainsaw stuff. Whatever. But no. I did a few matches, each with a different killer, different map, and the stagger/lag was consistent: roughly every ten seconds, I'm getting a "skip." This would be in addition to any kind of status change (including a Plague kicking down a wall in the saloon map; that lagged me out for about 4 seconds). It made looping difficult, since suddenly I'm over --> there, and skill checks challenging. When I missed a Decisive Strike check I was braced and ready for (and I don't find particularly difficult) on acount of the "stagger," I was livid. Even my friend, spectating, was like "Uh.... that skipped from the 2/3 mark all the way to the end."

Nice. Real nice.

I don't know if it's the ridiculous aura thing, or something changed on the dedicated servers, or what. But I might as well be playing on my seven year old laptop that barely lets me do skill checks.

Mind fixing it, BHVR? Because I absolutely love this game, and now, today, I hate it, when I was still in love with it yesterday. I certainly didn't change any of my hardware or settings. You changed your game.

    An update:

Had a match where a salty killer DC'd about five minutes in. I had sixteen counted instances of "skips."

Played a full match after that. Sixty instances.

    That's six zero, 60.

    Wasn't happening yesterday.
