Would a Lovecraftian monster be a good addition to dbd
I'm just curious.

Which one and why

maybe a Bloodborne DLC

Sorta depends? Lovecraftian in design would probably be fine, but in power level in-lore it'd probably be jarring, since the Entity kinda serves as the eldritch horror of the game and having something actively rival it would be difficult to write and a very, very noticeable outlier in the Killer roster.

DUDE
I had a dream last night. That CTHULHU was in the game
As a legendary skin :(
But it was still super cool, he was a legendary skin for the Doctor. Because the Doctor is all about madness and plunging survivors into insanity, similar shtick with Cthulhu, the legendary skin was super cool because it changed the character model completely, the theme was completely different, and the animations were so vastly different. My dream gets quite hazy after this but a lot to do with water and tentacles, Cthulhu would appear as a hallucination to survivors all over the map, fake pallets, it was crazy man.

Yes, but nothing cosmic/godly like Cthulhu or Dagon. Logically, they're eternal interdimensional beings who are most likely more powerful than the entity itself.
However, I can't remember who it was but someone on the forums recommended a Fishperson from the Innsmouth story and I think that would be awesome. They could maybe even do a Creature of the Black Lagoon legedary for him (in my dreams).

Yeah, nothing godly. Its the same reason Pennywise can't be a killer.

I think it would be interesting if a cultist who believed in the Cthulhu Mythos was added.

Not of the godly ones, like Dagon or Cthulhu, but someone who has to do with them. In the stories their were Cthulhu Cults, so a priest from one of those would be nice. Or the fishperson from some of the stories.

Maybe in a similar role to Nyharlotehp. You know, a servant of the already lovecraftian Entity we all know so well. : )

Yes!!
im not sure if werewolves are part of Lovecraft, but werewolves, a witch (classic), oh damn a vampire too but it might be a bit too much, they would have to balance things.
I just got an idea for a stage, of course an underwater stage wouldnt really be possible(unless they would ignore the watere physics), but i really think that they could create some kind of underwater looking like stage with some special effects.
Ideas for new Killers: werewolves, witch, vampire, land mermaid (lol, dead mermaid ghost hunting wtv boat wreckage, something like that), etc.

I see what you mean, but I hope you don't literally mean Nyharlotehp, due to his near unlimited power.

I don´t think so. DBD just isn´t that kind of game. Eldritch horror is a lot more about psychological horror, while DBD is more the classic Slasher-Genre.

Pretty sure the entity serves as the eldrich horror of the game unfathomable, unbeatable and inescapable. Uses people as playthings or as food.

I see your point, but as some people have said it could be one of his lesser Demogorgon like creatures.

We could get a Entity Cultist from Vigo's dimension!

This is a example of how a Lovecraftian killer could work.

Like a cult member that has underwent an eldritch transformation sounds amazing
Something like wilbur whateley or something

Yes Exactly!

Interesting take

A Lovecraftian character could work. A Cult Leader who had fully given himself over to his Gods, thus being transformed in their image. Upon being snatched up by the Entity he finds A new God to worship and serve. The Survivor could be a lost Sailor on the edge of madness from his experiences with Lovecraftian horrors, but still anchored firmly in reality to prevent him from succumbing.

I love the survivor idea!

The Entity is a lovecraftian monster. Just saying.

I mean more to his capacity as a servant of another being. I use him as an example.

Lovecraftian Horror is already in the game because the Entity.
1 -
Yes. And the entity is not a killer. Thats my point.
0 -
but we had a lovecraftian creature already, the entity!

Yeah I was thinking cultist too. Maybe their power could be an special alter on the map and the more survivors they place on the alter the more power they get

The way the Entity is described already makes a refference to the Cthulhu Mythos in a way, since she is described in the archives as "an old one" (at other point, "original one"). And if you think about it, it has everything to do with Lovecraft's cosmic horror. I don't see why a non-godly lovecraftian killer would be a problem, then.
Also, one of Lovecraft's stories mentions the myth of the ghoul. The ghoul is not a lovecraftian creature, but a mythical creature that would for sure make a great outfit for the Hag.

Depends, is it a Great Old One or is it just some random creature? A Great Old One would definetely resist the Entity and wouldn't fit into the game as most of them have world-ending powers.

A random creature, still freaky looking and Lovecraftian though.
