Why is MMR hidden?
I want to see my MMR, compare it with friends, good players, streamers and feel like grinding towards something. I also want to have a feeling how accurate the MMR is and how much improvement it needs.

I'm guessing here but I think it's hidden for the sole reason we can't see how it works. If someone wanted to derank their MMR and they start throwing matches. This way they can't see how much progress they are making.

IF MMR is not hidden: Ok, so this is what happens when I do this.. ok now I know how to drop it to face easier people to get better scores.
IF MMR is hidden: That match was bullcrap! I was clearly not the skill level of this killer.... I completely suck going against nurse! (or which ever killer)
either way people will complain. just hidden gives the devs more ability to dismiss things (not that i know they would but the conspiracy side of me says that's a potential avenue).

then what would be a good reason to hide it? I don't know, I was not advocating either side. just showing that either one people will complain. :)

Cause then people will use their MMR as justification to share their changes to the game... just like rank justification

So they can keep giving newer killers SWF groups comprised of mostly higher MMR and one low MMR person and say its balanced and fair matchmaking. If you cant actually see the MMR , the MMR is whatever BHVR wants it to be.

They've specifically stated that their main (if not only) reason for hiding MMR is that what you want to do is exactly what they don't want people to do. They want MMR to be as accurate as possible for matchmaking and don't want people to attempt to grind to get it higher nor compare it with others.

Because it does what rank does and see how well knowing rank went?
If you know when you gain and lose, you can "cheat " the system to depip on purpose or scrape by on ranking up when you domt actually deserve it.
Rank means nothing. Nor does mmr. Matchmaking is busted. Broken system + good mmr = bad mmr matching.

Whats to say that will decrease mmr at all?
The game should be able to tell when one is interacting in objectives such as gens, chases, hits, hooks etc etc and if you participate in none of those then it should keep you at your current mmr as it knows you are not trying.
Imo this is how it should be as it stops easy deranking.

I love the game but I can’t trust the devs to implement an MMR system and not give players any feedback on standing, imagine Siege or CSGO without ranks, it’d be terrible
