Is hiding holding a game hostage?
Is it holding a game hostage if you play hide and seek only. Not doing gens and just hiding from the killer till he/she finds you?

Yes.

Really just hiding is that?

You can play like that in KYF if you want, you can make all the rules there. But in a normal game if you are doing nothing for the game to progress yeah, thats holding the game hostage.

Yes. In that scenario the only way the killer can get out of the game is to DC.

Ok, i thought that crows would prevent you from hiding at one spot but instead to run around and hiding from the killer would not be since there is a chance to find you. I was goofing around with friend only to hide and run but was not sure about rules about that so wanted to chek it. Thanks :)

I mean, that's true but most survivors know to move (crouch) around and go in and out of lockers to prevent themselves from getting crows.

Are you on PS4? You and your buddy were probably the toxic Blendettes that did this ######### to me yesterday so I threatened to report you. Then after I found your stupid ass you called me a face camper cause I camped until you died so I can end the damn game

Well yes but you risk to get cought in lockers since you make sound or you are locked for few seconds doing that action. We used urban evasion to rotate on the map just for the lols but then cz game went for 20min i was wondering is it that a holding game hostage? Thanks for the answer.

Did one of you two had Object of Obsession?

I remember back before EGC and hatch closing existed, I was a Claudette with the black schoolgirl outfit, P2 pants, and purple hair. My ENTIRE team DC'd within 3 minutes on Lery's against LF and i just hid in corners til he DC'd

No only urban evasion, iron will and left behind.

No we are not on ps4, and me and my friend did that few mins before only one game. Even i got bored after some time but was funny to get chased and run for hiding. Don't know about game time tought... And we were never toxic at least i am not toxic.

Holding the Game Hostage refers to actions that prevent the game from progressing and/or concluding in any way. In your example, if all the Survivors are just hiding around doing nothing then you're holding the game hostage because you're not doing anything to progress the game forward (doing gens) and preventing the Killer from doing what they can to progress the game (killing you).
This kind of thing is why the Endgame Collapse exists. Were you the last Survivor standing, but refusing to leave/open the gate/use the hatch/whatever the Killer can close the hatch or open the gate themselves and force you to either leave or die.
It's for this reason that holding the game hostage is primarily a thing only Survivors can do. Though Killers can, also, if they simply corner you and refuse to hit or down you while you can't move.

If no one is doing gens and everyone is opting to hide indefinitely, yes.

Thanks for the answer!

Well he found us in the end but the primary objective was to hide and seek with a killer. While unhooking and doing gen would be secondary. Thanks for the answer.

No prob. Just making sure you are aware so you don't run into any issues in the future.

No, they only appear after a minute of inactivity. Even if you're just crouching around or change lockers occasionally they won't show up, which is why it's considered holding the game hostage. The killer has no reasonable way to find you.

Got it, was not sure about it but yea point proven. Thanks!

I don't think it is, honestly.
The game is still going, the odds are heavily stacked against you, but honestly anything could happen. The game hasn't ended yet.
The EGC fixed the problem of actually holding the game hostage, this new interpretation just makes anything you do other than sprinting from generator to generator be considered holding the game hostage, which is just definitively not true. You're not holding the game hostage for trying to survive.
You might be stubborn as a mule and refuse to give up, but that doesn't mean you're holding the game hostage.

But i said our main objective was to hide instead of doing gens. So if someone is not hooked or killer is not near we would usualy do slowly two 1 or two gens and the rest would be hide and seek since killer would usualy proxy camp hooked surv (for a reason ofc). Game would get longer then the normal ones also. So that is why i asked is it that holding a hostage.

Depend if 2 player do that yes but if its only you no the game is still progressing

No. It is not holding the game hostage. As long as the survivors have a goal of survival (or are trying to just hide nearby you without you noticing) in mind and are not in it just for extending the match needlessly, it is not taking the game hostage (eg. a 4 man SWF that all have keys and their goal is to see who dies last without doing gens. I faced this group as an Evil Incarnate Myers because they scared me in the lobby by all being Meg).
In theory, finding survivors is much less stressful once you know they're not doing generators.

So you're asking about a very specific scenario.
My answer is still no. Your strategy for doing gens is to throw the killer off, why is that considered holding the game hostage?
I mean you can apply this to any competitive or non-competitive game, how is using a different strategy than the norm holding the game hostage?
It's the same thing people who say that the only reason you should play DBD is for the chases, because avoiding the killer is boring. It's completely superficial and opinions change from person to person. Why is their opinion more right than anyone elses? (hint: it's not)

You'd have to be an idiot if you can't find the remaining survivors with all the perks and abilities killers have.

But 25 min game? Maybe even more if we didn't use diversion for getting his attention.
0 -
...were you the group I faced? They used diversion too...
The 25 minute game sounds like you were playing against a killer not meant for your rank(s), and that's a problem with matchmaking than game balance. Don't get me wrong, though. There are huge gameplay issues currently, and the devs seem enamored by everything but them.

Not necessarily. In most cases its not.

No.

Which killer you played?

Use Whispers + Stridor and you'll eventually find them.

On a related note, they should consider adding a timer where if no player scores points for, say, five minutes then the endgame collapse automatically starts. That would prevent these corner cases where you have two survivors, neither of whom wants to do gens and is just crouching and hiding hoping the other dies first but aren't actually afk, and a killer having difficulty finding either of them, making the game go on for a ridiculously long time.

Infinite Tier III Myers with Tombstone and Whispers. There were two Neas, a Steve, and a Dwight.
Edit: Haddonfield.
