Forum mods.
The reason I'm making this discussion is because I've been told by a few people the mods here arent exactly the greatest. This includes banning and ignoring the 3 strike system, abusing power. Also you cant even report them because the higher ups dont care. So what is really going on with the forums. I cant say this is all true but I do think it's weird that many people have told me otherwise what are you guys thoughts?

I've never had issues with moderators, the ones that have responded to me are usually chill.
But I've seen people getting the jail thing for speaking their minds
13 -
You serious? So like criticism? That's not good that's stuff I've heard about. I mostly made this to hear more thoughts from people.
3 -
Yeah like that, sometimes I think that they just don't like it when players know their game better than them, so when people speak their minds like that, they don't like it and just put the jail/bars thingy on their pic.

I know someone that got perma banned because he refered to a random person of unknown gender as "it".
IT is a person after all so until this day I still don't understand how that was worthy a perma ban. Pathetic once again, modern society.

Majority of the time I can agree with the decisions they make.
I have had ideological issues with them before about certain actions that both them and I have taken before. Not to go into details, but "git gud" should be a bannable phrase, especially when there is a serious issue to discuss. The commenter I was replying to used it to try and silence me, I didn't take kindly to that. And almost everyone on that thread was disrespecting me way more than I was to anyone else on there. I just happen to try to deal with things myself. That thread should have been closed long before that point.
But yeah, most of them are usually chill. Mandy is also pretty good to talk to on here as well. Haven't seen any of what you have described though. Some accounts though are burner accounts just to insult everyone and those should skip the 3-Strike ideal.

Sounds about right. My favourites are the ones with names that just directly insult the game, company and devs. They are always good for a laugh, especially with the stupid posts they make before promptly getting deleted.

The mods are cool, they are just tired of troll burner accounts trying to tear apart the forums. Prove to them that that's not what you're trying to do and they'll treat you respectfully.

If a ban gets revoked as it was not justified after being looked into by the head admin then yes, that is a case of "abusing their power".
If that specific unjustified ban then is used to issue a perma ban because "You have already been banned before so this time it is permanent!" then that is another case of a specific moderator abusing their power to take care of a personal issue that has nothing to do with actual moderation of forums.
Isn't that a bit absurd? A moderator using an unjustified and revoked ban as actual ban reason to issue a perma ban?
---
Let's just pretend that everything I said was true, what would you think about it then?

They told me to do the Truffle Shuffle before i could join the forums...😞

You really think git gud should be bannable? Smh bro. No offense but 'm glad you are not a mod.
0 -
Agreed. People shouldn't be immediately banned just because someone doesn't like what they're saying. That'd be like banning killers who go around spamming "Do Bones" or "Git Gud".
1 -
"Just run no mither" is my favorite line
1 -
Depends on context. If it's used to silence someone, or demean them, then yes. Like I said, it was used to silence me.
I'm also glad that I'm not a mod, because that seems like a lot of work, but also because I am the type of person who deals with their own problems and follows the phrase "give as good as you can take". Not to mention the hate I already receive as is. I also don't believe in silencing people with phrases, such as "git gud" or "entitled X main" so getting rid of them from the forums would promote actual discussion or at least that is my hope.

The solution to being told to "git gud" isn't to report them, its to not care and leave if it isn't worth your time. Who knows they might be spamming "git gud " minutes after you dipped.
2 -
That's just abusing power then that's not good wth.
2 -
Because unless THEY specified THEY wanted to be called it, which I ######### doubt they did, the easy go to for being unsure is THEY.
IT dehumanizes people. Regardless of gender, calling someone IT establishes that you view them as an item, not a person.
1 -
They dont silence you. It's an attempt to gatekeep, that you can easily refute or ignore.
Them saying git gud doesnt revoke your posting privilege.

They doesn't always work because of how the English language works. Plus, pronouns aren't really that big a deal as shown by the majority of users on these forums automatically referring to other users as he. Sensitive mods applying judgement based on their personal view of the topic is not just or understandable, it is anarchy. Glad to see we got the sjws out already.

I think the mods do a pretty good job around here but I do think there are times where I found their decisions a bit questionable. But overall I think they do a good job around here. :)

It definitleyndoes work. They/them/you fits as a pronoun. It does not. It is a term for an inanimate object.
And yeah, most internet culture revolves around using "he", but anytime someone corrects them, it changes. Nobody has a problem with that.
Calling someone IT is disgusting, regardless of who or what you are. Unless they specifically for some reason want to be called "it".
Theres no argument or semantics here. "Because how english works". There are neutral pronouns. It is not one of them.

I'm taking a wild guess here, but damn, this honestly sounds as if the OP is upset that people criticised them and didn't get kickbanned for it.

You can't be silenced by a phrase. You are putting too much stock into words. It's up to you to either ignore it and continue the rational part of a discussion or let them ruin your day. While the mods have every right to ban whatever they want on their forums, it's not good practice to ban phrases you don't like.
I'm antagonized by all the threads about the billy changes, should they be banned? Again, you shouldn't ban stuff because it bothers some people.

Accidentally duplicated post

I'm pretty sure it's not common knowledge that referring to someone on the Internet as it is "disgusting". It is a pronoun like any other to people who don't go around looking for the next big offensive thing to be mad at. A ban is not a suitable punishment for someone who refers to another user as it in a way that is not malicious or meant to harass that user. If a user doesn't like the pronouns being used for them, they can always clarify their pronouns in response. An immediate ban should be reserved for real trolling and harassment, not to push your personal sjw agenda on people who had no idea about your secret rules.

I honestly don't know what to say. A mod should be there to moderate, not to punish specifically. Kind of feels like they can't take criticism of a videogame and if you do criticize there videogame they'll find any excuse they can to start warning you and punishing you.
The only actual fair warning I got was when I insulted another player one time, now that was warranted.

I learned from a Mod that not everyone understands what it means to describe an annoying thing as “aids.” example: “getting morid off of hook after being farmed is aids”
so uh don’t do that and you should be good pls no jail again I’m just advising on what not to say xd

If you are seriously bothered by this get off the internet. It was a damn mistake get out your feelings.

No I'm just trying to figure out the mods here I dont want anyone banned read my post before commenting.

In my experience, the mods here are fair. People who are banned by mods (not just on the DbD forum, but everywhere) tend to sanitize their version of events, usually with the same phrases in place of the real reason they were banned, but that's when you know they were fairly banned.
Forums have rules. You may disagree with them and you may not even like them, but willfully breaking them has consequences. You can challenge unfair rules in a way that doesn't get you banned, or you can follow them. Or you can ignore them because you feel the forum is your personal soapbox instead of a private venue, in which case you get fairly banned.

They're very chill and reasonable people. Sometimes, they have to skip a stage if what you say is THAT bad. Rizzo and Mandy are really chill and wholesome people, who also stream. I was jailed once and for good reason, I learned a lot from that, and you shouldn't be making light of serious issues.

It's why I said "attempt" to silence me. I'm no wordsmith, but I am normally quite careful with what I say for several reasons.

Using "they" to refer to a person of unknown gender makes no sense to many people that don't use english as their native language.
They is a plural pronoun, it is used to refer to several individuals so to me, it sounds highly schizophrenic to talk to a person while using plural pronouns. I guess that's why this person used "it" to not assume this persons gender, because "IT" in that concext clearly represents the noun "Person".
IT is A PERSON so how can that be considered dehumanizing? It's a person like you and me? Or is the correct wording here
"THEY are a person like you and me"? (a single person) Heck, you could even say "It is a human!". I did it again, I used "it" to refer to a human, #########?
Additionally, the person explained that they were unaware of this due to lack of english knowledge and apologized for using "it" instead of "they" and yet it was still used as justification for a permanent ban. I can try to contact this person if you want, maybe they can get a screenshot of the ban so it's not something that "can't be proven". I think there was also a reddit post about it since they were not allowed to discuss the bans on forum but guess what - they got banned there aswell.

I might be wrong but I've seen people say stuff and then in a few hours when I check the forum I see the jail thing on their name.
Maybe they can explain if there is something wrong but I can't say since I'm just a commoner here.
Could be something that I don't see the reason why they get that jail thing.
But again whenever they talk to me they are usually chill people.

To clarify some things: There are reasons why we might skip escalations, some of them are listed here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/137-forum-rules (it's best to check out the whole Rules & Info link though.) We do not comment on bans publicly, but privately to ensure the privacy of the users involved.
I recommend reading the forum rules and getting familiar with them. If you have any questions, we have a dedicated moderation team that will gladly answer your questions and concerns. Here's a list that has all the Community Moderators as of now listed. Please contact them and not other people from the list.
There are higher ups you can contact: The Coordinators, which are me and @MandyTalk. You can contact us on our walls on the forum here and we will get to you as soon as we see it. Please keep in mind that forum bans are not appealable itself though.
