Being hit through window when you are miles away is borderline #########

Issue is known and being looked into.
And it's not miles, you are in the killer's hit detection cone at the time and windows are not magic barriers he can't hit through.
They're considering shortening the cone but increasing the lunge range to help address that.

I'm sorry if I overreacted but it's annoying sometimes.1

No joke, close to 25% of my hits as survivor come from this... yet it almost never applies to me as killer. Go figure.
There's no feeling quite like getting chainsawed when your feet are well on the ground and you've already been sprinting away from the window, well out of the vault animation.

Sorry but I won't bother with recording any videos, because even if I did it would lead nowhere. There's tons of videos on youtube already showing survivors getting hit when they shouldn't.3
-
I would have to assume he's trolling because I haven't met a survivor who hasn't experienced this.

She is standing directly in front of the window, legit hit, working as intended.
Maybe you are not aware of this, but it is intended that killers can hit a survivor standing on the other side of the window

Working as intended.
It´s a window, not a impenetrable wall.8 -

Yea, that looks 100% legit. When she already moved away from the window and his mallet doesn't even touch a survivor

it never seems to apply to you when playing killer because you are the host then. the hits that look normal to you may just look like the ones you complain about to the survivor you hit.

I can see lag causing a lot of issues here, but when a survivor is legit doing another animation after the vault then that becomes very questionable.
To be fair, there are select times as killer where I hit a survivor and know that I "shouldn't" have too.

You dont actually see the mallet because the killer smashed his mourse around to land the hit making the animation look weird. Btw, hitting a 360ing survivor looks really weird for the same reason
Claudette just finished the vault animation when she got hitted, everythign is working as intended even if you dont like it

So in your logic it's intended for survivors to get hit when the killer's weapon doesn't touch with the survivor.

Pretty sure the devs have stated multiple times hits like this are caused by lag. On the killer's screen you are not seeing him swinging in the air at the wall, he's swinging at the survivor. The lag causes you to be farther away than you appear and it gives the illusion it was a B.S. hit. One of the reasons I quit playing COD on console.

It might sound weird to you, but yes this is how hits in dead by daylight work.
I recommend trying to hit a survivor while he is dieing on hook and is lifted up by the entitiy.
This way you will get a rough feeling how broken the hit mechanic is in DBD.0 -
Yup, looks more like a lag issue. They talked about how this effects things like Dead Hard too.

I hate this BS it happens to me all the time. You can be clear on the other side of the window and get hit. Pallets are still bad with this too, they said they fixed them but you still get hit when the pallet drops.

try this irl. stick your arm through a window and see if you can touch things on the other side. if the answer is no you cant then you may have no arms

Now try reaching something outside of the window (arms length). Can you reach it? Now try it with a stick (unless you have a axe, machete, or a sledgehammer).

The problem is that you are not reached judging by the animations and distance.
It looks stupid.0 -
Just came to the forum to see if others had the same issue, it seem worse since either the Spirit patch or the hotfix today, pretty much every game I have had now I get hit a long time after vaulting a pallet or window, even had leatherface chainsaw me after I had vaulted.

There's tons of videos on youtube already showing survivors getting hit when they shouldn't.I've played all of the killers a lot, and I rarely ever land strikes through windows as the hag or the pig. But as Leatherface (6'4") and Michael Myers (6' 7"), I land them quite often, which makes sense in my mind; 95-120cm arm length wouldn't be far off, paired with a 20 cm long machete or 50cm long chainsaw... and if you consider it wouldn't be hard for them to bend over the window casement.
Not to mention...

Seems to me that the Killer swung in a 180º radius, and the animation just couldn't keep up. Combine that with latency, and you have some weird-looking hits. However, I would have to test this hypothesis to be sure.

There's does seem to be some inconsistency since I've done fast vaults ie running in a straight line from a distance. i clearly make it cleanly through take 5 steps and get hit magically.by melee hits.
I can see bubba's chainsaw doing it with the extended reach but when you're basically 5 feet on the other side of the window that hit shouldn't register. The pallets are the same which devs are aware of both issues which happened when they went to fix phantom hit/misses for killers.

Don't drag me into your mess ochidud.2
-
I agree that the animation is terrible even though the hit is legitimate. The killer cannot be moved through the window to finish the way the animation is meant to be finished. I wish lunges actually appeared to be lunges with the weapon and not the mess they are now.0

Doesn't need to be a lag-free game.. people will always call it latency, as if it were an excuse for bad mechanics.
No one complains when it's killer-sided latency.

No one? I constantly complain about teleporting survivors.

I think it's just a bad animation that makes it look strange on the Survivor's end, similarly to what has sometimes been referred to as "pick up vacuum". If I'm right, on the Killer's side, his camera would simply spin 180º and he'd see himself hit the Survivor normally.
