Are archives fun or boring?
Now to me I find archives very fun and challenging to play. True there are some missions that are quite a nuisance or require you to be sweaty, but it takes you out of your comfort zone and possibly give you some new experience. My little brother who plays on ps4 plays the game almost half the day yet he never does the archive because he says its not worth it and its boring. Of course let me get this out of the way that I am open minded and not a salty person (or at least I like to believe that). I wanted to make a thread to see the majority of people's opinion on this issue and if possible state the platform that you use as well if you like.

It is like a double edged sword to me. I like having something extra to do, but it does make it more of a grind because of the time frame involved.

Fun.

It's a very fun mechanic imo. It makes you use different perks and change your playstyle a bit. Also gives you bonus bloodpoints. There are of course some quests that are absolutely horrendous but you can usually just leave them for last
1 -
Now this I agree with, the bloodpoints are mostly my reason as of now. There are more pros than cons in the archives.
2 -
That about sums it up :)

I will agree that excluding the rift benefits the archive is very time consuming. Although it is very rewarding if you do complete it.

I agree with you this one in particular I am mostly doing survivors. I play both sides, but mostly killer and Hag is definitely one I would not touch mainly because I don't enjoy playing her even if its an archive and also just cause I gag a dozen when I do play her (her sound effects and her hand are just downright disgusting). I am not hating on anyone playing her rather just my opinion I would not play her myself. Probably going to bribe someone to play her lol.

It depends entirely on the challenge. I like when it makes me use different builds and playstyles (usually) like in Tome 2 the Protection Hits challenge made me use MoM a lot.
However the ######### ruin challenge this tier? No. Never again. I hated it.

I find that they can be both to be honest.. but for me personallly they do lean more to the fun side, because not only can some be challenging to complete some will make me use a killer that i may not be familar with or would ever play as and that gives the trials that extra bit of fun to maybe discover a new killer you enjoy playing as.
Case in point i never ever had any intention to play a Legion the last tome and i discovered that i really enjoy play as legion and that was a fun wee realization

Agreed, I hate playing hag but for this archive when I try it out hopefully my opinion changes. Only problem is ima have to get a barf bag beforehand.
0 -
I hate certain challenges like get egc hooks like how tf ima do that? There is ways but how many games ima run to get that off. Hell this archive I spent 5 games trying to get one blind from this archive, I was so frustrated until I realized there was something wrong with the flashlight animation or maybe I suck.

miced bag depend on the mission, my big grip with it is the mission have to be selected while in most of the other games in the market the mission don't need to be slected and be done at the same time

Mostly fun. The grinding ones like hook 20 survivors, search 6 chests etc aren't particularly fun.
1 -
Nope flashlights are indeed bugged
2 -
I personally think they are fun plus good rewards, for the most part. Meg and Ace aren't my mains, but for the Wraith's weapon and Tiki charm, I will get to level 70. However for the first tier of the rift.. I'm really not liking the Hex ones, since the one Hex challenge is to hit 10 survivors, may not be hard but knowing my luck it will get broken instantly. Same with the ruin challenge. Can't wait to see what Wraith's challenges will be. π

I am looking forward to my wraith games but hag. Oh man I better bring me a garbage bag for how much ima barf.
1 -
I knew it but thanks for reassuring me good sir.
0 -
well two choice, you ignore hag or try to learn hag, wich is a weird killer but with the other so i won't blame if you wanna skip here
0 -
Yeah those are pretty generic and require you to invest more time than others. That is on thing I dislike about the archive is the time it takes and possibly the difficulty for some missions.
0 -
???
Umm can you explain it in more details I am not that highly intelligent.
0 -
So to resume, you can ignore her mission, or find a guide on youtube to try and learn her. Just know that she is about planning ahead and adapt/change plan ect....
0 -
Ima try her out its just I gag or feel so diagusted playing her since she gurgles and it really gives me goosebumps.
0 -
Yeah for me sometimes I just think "well I'm never getting that archive unless Iget lucky, oof"
0 -
I will try to do that but man I just gag so much.
0 -
For me the challenges give me reason to play the game. Without the challenges in mind I just get reminded of the general toxicity this game has
0 -
poor girl is a undead, you can't blame her for this gurgle, but she is quite creepy as undead i give you that.
0 -
I enjoy having things to do,
0 -
I don't mind playing Hag myself, i've got pretty good using her as every 3rd of my daily challenges are the hags... and something tells me your not a hag fan then lol
1 -
Depends on the challenge. The grindy ones are boring like, Hook 20 survivors. That's a minimum of 5 matches if you catch all 4 each match. No challenge should take more than 3 matches to complete or it's just a nuisance.
0 -
Pretry much the reason why I am still playing this game is just archives and new content.
1 -
The gurgles are all it takes to make me fear her tbh.
1 -
That is about one of the main gripes I have for archives in general wish devs could at make the hard mission take a max of 3
0 -
Generally I dislike them. I think the game was better without them.
As survivor? Youβve got more people wasting time on chests and stuff so less time on gens making it harder. Or youβve got killer with basement challenges so it just ends up with basement builds which nobody likes.
As killer? Break 500 pallets or grab 6 survivors off gens, people want those out if the way quickly so it just turns into a farm fest.
The only reason I do any is for the extra bp
0 -
Ah so it ruins the games main objectives eh. That is one solid point about the cons of the archives and I appreciate that. I have seen issues with how survivors spend a lot of time doing nothing when I realize afterwards they have to hide within 10 meters of the killer for 1 minute lol.
0 -
Time consuming, but fun.
0 -
Thats exactly what I did as Dwight in the last one. Just followed the killer around.
Worst still is theres no timer and no way to know exactly how far 10m is so you overcompensate by doing it longer than 60 seconds just to be sure.
For people like myself that want to play competitive seeing survivors do this can be infuriating, as some just mess about for fun.
I get the game isnt meant to be taken ultra serious but then it only has a ranked mode. It needs a ranked and casual so the competitive people can play together and the ones who just want to be silly and have fun can play together.
The ones about opening chests as well. You just know some people will open a few chests in one game then give up on 1st hook so they can move onto the next game for more chests, which ruins the game for everyone else.

extremeley boring but if u play with friends is doable. because you have time/efficiency but in solos is a nightmare.
1 -
As a solo player myself I agree that its not fun for survivor side and you have to earn it or ya know what they say the early bird get the worm if that makes any sense.
0 -
Yeah I tried the dwight one myself and let me tell ya I was thinking throughout the whole game thinking "how long is 10 meters and how ima do that" lol. I was fubared that game and decided to drop that mission.
0 -
Depends on the challenges. Most of them have been fun, but some are boring, annoying, or just borderline impossible to complete in a normal game (cough Six Feet Under cough).
0 -
I like them. The extra bloodpoints are nice, and some challenges get you out of your comfort zone.
0 -
I like it, but also detest it because of the grind its linked too and how ######### of a value we get out of said grind. seriously after experiencing the recent destiny 2 pass its set a new standard on how to reward players through a battle pass. whether you think destiny 2 in general sucks or is good you cant deny the value you get on the pass and the literal lack of a grind you need to do to receive the full benefits of the pass and more. its designed to give players a good value while also not locking out any gameplay content. its great.

The Hex ones don't require it to stay up. I play Hag with Third Seal all the time and it got cleansed after I hit all 4 Survivors once and two of them twice but I still got the challenge. Same with the ruin one, as long as you bring the perk and get the 4k or close hatch before all the gens are done you'll get the challenge.
1 -
I should have brought this up sooner but i did not pay for the dead by daylight season pass or whatever people call it. The reason being that I play on a laptop (in other words my quality and gameplay is very poor) or can I make it all the way upto level 70 by the end. Ima wait for about 2 weeks or a month and if I am grinding good and getting things done relatively quick then I will get it otherwise its pointless. I also don't play dead by daylight on a daily basis since I am more of a visual novel maniac instead but I do try to get things done within a few hours a day.
0 -
Boring, but a reason to keep playing the game.
0 -
Thats just it friendo (can I call you friendo?) even if you play daily for multiple hours a day people have already shown that getting to the end of the pass is hard and grindy. people reportedly finishing all challenges and only making it to around the 50's in rank.
back on my point of d2. if you play at least 2 hours a week, not a day but a week from when the pass started you would easily make it to level 100 on the pass because every week the first five levels of the pass are significantly easier. if you play more like I do then you max out the pass with months to spare and then every 5 levels after you get random cosmetics and destinys equivalent of iridescent shards for free. its rewarding and accessible.

Same here, his perks are actually decently good and can make matches a bit more fun. Hag perks.. Aren't really for me, even though Devour Hope seems to be decent. Ruin can be but for me it always gets cleansed within seconds. Though her teleport isn't too bad, extra rift points and bp for something so simple to do in matches. π
0 -
Oh really? Well thank you for that information! I been getting very sweaty survivors (possibly swf groups) so I doubt I'll get the ruin one. But that's very helpful to know!π

If you have an offering for the new silent hill map that makes it super easy literally just have to trap the hallway, especially if you just run her adept build, most will die on first hook because people can't find them.
