Mettle of Man isn't usable
Before this thread starts, yes I'm aware of how busted OP MoM was on release, I don't want to go back to that. Also, please refrain from the whataboutism. The problem is with the prerequisites. If I can't heal without the killer making a mad dash for me, I can't get the perk to activate. On top of that, I can't get downed or I have to start all over again. The perk simply has too many activation requirements for it to be useful at all. If they just got rid of the aura reveal on healing, it could be a good perk.
Or they could just rework the perk entirely to something like this:
"Taking a protection hit for a Survivor gives access to the self-healing action for 40/50/60 seconds. The timer is paused while being chased and for 15 seconds afterward."
This takes away the abusable endurance effect while giving an incentive to take protection hits, and the pause on the timer is long enough so that you don't lose the effect when the killer loses line of sight at a jungle gym.

With how broken it was beforehand, the devs rushed and nerfed it to the ground, similar to how they used to do with old killers when they were first released. MoM was so insanely broken before it was nerfed that I guess they wanted to make it "balanced" in their eyes but had so little time to test it before all killers started leaving that they didn't have much time to test if it was still useable.

This perk has one of the most insane activation requirements in the game for, like, such a "meh" benefit. It's not a terrible benefit, of course, but for how much work you put in, you're almost never going to get to actually use it. And chances are if you're the guy going up taking these protection hits over and over again without getting 3-hooked, you probably don't even really need Mettle of Man to begin with.

So, a temprorary Self-Care after a protection hit. I guess without "heal yourself twice as long" downside.

Temporary Self Care should have an increase in healing speed, imo, since it's temporary, and very risky. If it became a meta thing, killers would start taking Mad Grit anyway.

It's usable. You can get downed before it activates, and on the activation hit. It's perfectly fine as is.

I activated it twice earlier in sabo builds. And next time means a the hit after mom hit. I use it all the time. Its a good perk and its fine as is.

The only thing MoM does is let you tank one extra hit. But you need to take 3 hits that you dont have to take if you don't run this perk. So I don't think it's worth running.

And an extra hit is amazing. Mom plus dead hard it at least 30 seconds more.

Provided you don't have all 3 stacks the perk doesn't deactivate.
Provided you don't have all 3 stacks your aura is not revealed to the killer.
Once you have all 3 stacks, the next time you are downed is when the perk deactivates.
It's usable but not the best, and you need to form a build around it.

That just means you're lucky the killer didn't bother going after you. He let you pester him while he was trying to hook others instead of getting you out of the way.

If it was changed to something like this the healing action would have to be a lot faster than self-care or what’s the point of using it when self-care can be used whenever you want?

I was actually unlucky. Killers chasing me is at least 3 gens done. I like being chased as well.

Great idea. The healing action should be slowed down a bit and the perk should be fixed so it actually activates, but otherwise it sounds like a nice change.

I believe self-care is 50% slower than the default self-healing speed, so this perk would give you 100% speed if it was given the proposed stats.

I’d definitely use it more if it was changed to this. Most of the people I see running it now pair it with Dead Hard, Breakout and a Styptic Agent. It’s just not strong enough by itself.

I use it every time I have a protection hits challenge. I also played against a Kate who bamboozled me with it today by taking her last protection hit with the styptic agent so then was able to use Mettle of Man to tank a second hit both while injured, it was pretty cool.

I'd be completely fine with it, as long as it can't stack with botanical knowledge, that would be marginally busted

I think it's a bad idea, it's too OP.
I think you just don't know how to play with MoM, bring a medkit with the purple add-on, you will see MoM doesn't need a buff at all.

Because MoM is one of the strongest perks rn, you just dont know how to use it. In my main build I used MoM, and if your change was official, I don't need to bring a medkit, I can use flashlight or whatever and I would be too OP.
I ran : MoM, Breakout, For the people, Soul Guard + medkit with purple add-on
Imagine if I can heal myself without medkit with this kind of build.. I would be invincible... It's not what it's supposed to do

Except it wouldn't function the same way because it's no longer an endurance perk. It would just let you heal yourself back up after taking a default body block. Its essentially just a temporary, faster self-care when you protect your teammates

I activate MoM EVERY games I played with it, you just bad, this perks doesn't need at all a rework it's completely fine the way it is rn.

I think the gaining endurance concept is cool. I wouldn't want that part gone.
I think what they should do is create other perks to better synergize with Mettle. The Breakout perk is a good example of this, because many times you can't get there fast enough in between the survivor being carried and the hook. They also need to gauge Protection Hits better in general, because sometimes they do not register. So that's a big problem in itself.
I'm not saying your idea is bad, but I think considering what the perk does, its one of those high risk high reward type perks.

Do you watch streams and YouTube videos? They are manyyyy ways to use it, you just don't know and we are some players who use it well and don't want a nerf OK?
Don't be selfish and try to be better with this perk, or just move on and don't ruin other players experience pls

It's a fun perk and I enjoy using it from time to time. I just wish I didn't have to be running up someone's butthole just to get a protection stack.
If you take a hit within 8 meters of any survivor in chase that should be suffice.

What? I'm good at looping. I can loop most killers for at least 80 seconds, meaning 3 gens.
