20+ minute matchmaking times are not ok
Took a break from the game for a few months, started playing again recently. What in the world happened to matchmaking while I was gone? It's not too hard to find a match during the day, but both last night and tonight I just can't find survivor matches. Been playing since 9:20 PM, it is now 10:13 PM, and in that time I've only gotten to play one match. First match had like a 15 minute wait, now I've been searching for nearly a half an hour with no matches. On PS4 by the way.

There are hardly any killers on PS4.
Playerbase is the most toxic from the 3 main platforms. SWF teams.
Just wait until cross play, it'll fix the queue times.

When is crossplay happening? Hopefully soon, these matchmaking times are truly atrocious.

Hopefully by September or October. A month or two.

funny it in the morning that tooks forever and night right away for me on ps4.

The problem is back again. Been searching for over 30 minutes tonight without a single match.

Play Killer then, compensate.

If you are having a lot of issues with it, try a VPN that places you somewhat near your location. Sometimes if matches take to long, ill move myself to east / west US instead of central. This only raises my ping by like, maybe 20 ms and will get me more matches.

PS4 killers are at a disadvantage and SWFs are more likely on console.

I played on ps4 after 10pm..
it felt like a lot of my matches were vs swf.
A lot of my matches on PC, I feel like nurse marth regardless of killer.

What rank are you? I am currently 9 on both sides ps4;
As killer I get matches near instantly any time of day, but more so at night.
The issue is that you get alot of swf on comms.
And ofc, they are extremely toxic.
When they survive, they berate, when they die, they berate, when you kill their friend, they berate, and if you camp one of them on hook while gate is open and you want to secure a kill, extra berate.
There's nothing you can do.
Yet I felt surprised at killers running ruin corrupt ebony with hell mode add ons literally every other game when I was survivor rank 6

I feel like during the day is when the younger people without jobs play, who I think prefer killer.
Then they don't play at night and there is a shortage of killers while also being too many survivors even if there wasn't a shortage of killers.
There are also way more survivors at red ranks than killers because they got carried by swf
New matchmaking is coming and I've played it, it is a bit better sometimes by 10 seconds sometimes by a couple minutes.(You do also get paired with players closer to your skill)

Rank 7 survivor, rank 9 killer. Like you, I can get a killer match in seconds, but survivor is like 3-5 minutes during the day and can be 20-30 minutes or more at night. Devs really need to do something about the lack of killer players, like I dunno, maybe not ruining the balance constantly in favor of the survivor players.

I play on PS4 as well, and the amount of people playing Killer are incredibly low. I've had three Killer matches back to back where my level 12 killer has faced an all red rank SWF, and frankly I'm tired of it. It's why the queue times for survivor takes so long, people are avoiding playing as Killer.

Crossplay is coming. As is the new MMR system. Though, I don't think it'll matter in a few months after.

But it wont help a lot. People will play less and less killer, because once a killer is nerfed, like bill now, survivor call for the next nerf, spirit in this case.
IT will hang on the new mmr-system, but for high rank survivors waiting times will either go trought the roof, because there are not many high skilled killers left, or the waiting times take priority to a fair match, and then the mmr is worthless.
Whats needed is a serious rebalancing of swf, which they are afraid to do.

Let's talk about why people play less and less killer.
At first I was against adding the extra objective to survivors, but it seems needed against swf exclusively.
I also don't see why I got paired with nothing but reds like 6 games straight when I'm new purple.
Right now I'm in a loop of hitting 8 and get slammed back to 9.
I will keep trying though, they coincidentally stopped sending hatemail over everything I do.
I don't think they realize they are killing their own community by being toxic to their killers.
You can't have one without the other after all.

Thats true. A lot of players the the other party as the enemy, not the opponent, and surly not as the playpartner they are. Show your playmates some basic respect, thats not too much to ask for i think.
This is for killers and survivors.

Hmmm... I wonder why there are no killers!

Why do you say this? Predict the game dying or something?

Should we really be surprised? I've been saying forever how horrendous the PS4 killer experience is compared to PC, how the loss of frames during any action + hitting a survivor on one side of a pallet = survivor on opposite side of pallet (or behind you) and small things make the killer PS4 experience hell...
Also SWF is and has been a real issue from the beginning on PS4, and the dev team must address this in some way...

You took a break for a few months. From back when wait times were 45 mins?
And you dont cancel/requeue after 10 mins?
I havent had finding game issues in months. 5 10 mins at most.
Also, how did this thread turn into another anti swf circle jerk?

Crossplay should help a lot. On PC the survivor queue times are a few seconds, while killer queue times are usually 30 seconds to a couple minutes.

Well, it was more than a few months really. I stopped playing last September or October I think, came back in July. When I left I had no matchmaking issues at all on PS4, could find survivor matches in less than a minute and killer matches in seconds. I can still find killer matches in seconds, but the survivor queue times are horrendous now, especially at night. I'm guessing the ruin nerf was a big part of why so many people stopped playing killer while I was on break, I was shocked when I discovered it had been nerfed when I came back, ruin was an essential part of the killer's kit, crucial for slowing up a match in the early stage, without it 2 or 3 generators often pop before you can find your first survivor, chase them down, and get them on a hook. Add to that the various individual killer nerfs over the last year, the fact that hit registration is still wonky on PS4, and the fact that so many survivor players on console are the t-bagging, flashlight clicking type of obnoxious, I'm not really shocked by the massive killer playerbase drop-off while I was gone. Devs really need to address these issues before they kill the game. Cross-play and MMR should help some, but in the end those are bandaids for the larger problems with a toxic playerbase, poor console optimization, and poor survivor-killer balance in favor of the survivors (and I say that as someone who plays survivor about 70% of the time).

The big problem is that it's 1 Killer to a 4 survivor lobby. And there are far more survivor players than there are killers, so survivors will get huge wait times compared to killers who can get instant matches since there are so many survivors still waiting for a match. It also doesn't help that many survivors act toxic toward killers, which of course will put many off wanting to even touch killer. Alongside that, bugs galore that help survivors and make killer a nightmare at times.

No. I just feel that the new MMR won't do much in the long run. SWF is a thing, and it's going to bring the same rank imbalance we have now, except with the 'secret skill tracker.' Devs haven't yet said how the new MMR will affect SWF member, so I'm assuming it's going to be as the whole, similar to how it is now.

In theory at least, good SWF teams should have the highest MMR in the game, and should be getting matched against killers who have the highest MMR, so the best of the best going against the best of the best. Of course not all SWF's are top tier, so some will have lower MMR and will be getting matched against somewhat weaker killers. But there are alot of unknowns, is there a max difference in MMR that the matchmaking system will allow, or will it match high MMR survivors with low MMR killers just to improve matchmaking times for high MMR survivors, like the game seems to do currently, where red rank survivor teams can be matched up against purple and even green rank killers?
