You still haven't fixed the exploit that lets survivors see killer in the lobby.

Just had a time where i queued up as oni and survivors had no items, then they last second switched to 4 medkits. They knew.

yeaaaaaah suuuuuureeee. Its called scummy 4 SWF and they would do it on any killer. Its funny that people always assume cheats before randomness or skill. When I play killer people often report me for cheating or wallhacking but in fact I just pay attention to the surroundings and think about the most likely thing to happen. If I see a person hidding I first go kick the generator, then reload hatchet/place traps (what ever) and THEN go to the person because the whole time he was not doing anything and then he says "How did you know" I saw YOU I just pokerfaced that I didnt so you would not run away and I could use my pop in peace.

With this cheat being around for a while and seemingly quite well known (with streamers and forum users talking about it) I would be pretty suspicious of such a thing too. Although you can't be certain that is what they actually did as they could have planned for medkits beforehand but switched to avoid Franklin's Demise.

    Any squad could do that.

Now if they were all running Calm Spirit with killer as the Doctor, all running Spine Chill for stealth killer, basically builds that can hard counter specific killers - then I'd suspect program usage.

    But medkits? Really? Come on.

I do the same thing when on survivor (solo queue and SWF) with my flashlights and medkits 'cause screw Franklin's.

    Im not sure about that

i mean i just played a game with 4 calm spirits and iron wills as doctor. So either it was a really educated guess or they were using a program. And with the lock theres nothing i can do to counter it but just dive head in and get countered hard.

I mean beyond constantly changing killer you couldnt really counter it anyway, since perks arent visible.

But I find that interesting, because out of curiousity I read up about this exploit (I play killer mainly so wanted to know) and the site I got after searching mentioned the exploit was patched out in the latest patch. But then again I dont really sweat the details too much I just play the game for fun. And dont really play any 1 specific killer with an easy to exploit weakness, play a lot so I think even if I stumbled upon people exploiting it I wouldnt notice.

They would've probably done the same switch even if you were Plague, because all the programs and scripts that allowed survivors to figure out who the killer was that were well known are fixed. The log file they used to get the information is encrypted now, and there's no way someone figured out how to crack the encryption already.

I've posted it before but here's an example.

This is what the log file's structure looked like before the midchapter patch.

Perfectly human-readable normal letters, and therefore very easily readable by programs and scripts as well. But then the midchapter patch dropped, and now it looks like this.

Encrypted gibberish, good luck getting any meaningful information out of that.

There might be other methods that still work, but if there are I've never heard of them. I never saw any talk of any method that didn't rely on the real-time "readability" of the log file. If such a method exists, it doesn't have nearly the "fame" of the now fixed method.

They probably just quick switched to avoid the new Franklin’s.

In the op's case, this is the likely explanation.

However, this other case is actually suspicious. If this is still a thing, I wouldn't hold my breath this would get patched soon, though.

Four Iron Wills and Calm Spirits could just be a SWF doing stealth builds. It could be that they somehow knew it was a Doctor, or it could be that they wanted flashlight saves and know CS counters Infectious, which counters altruism.

I mean, I’m not saying it’s impossible. But like @oxygen said, they’ve actually encrypted the log file now, which removes both previous methods of seeing the killer pre-game. Until there’s actual evidence of people being able to see the killer, I’d consider this exploit dead.

Still A problem with the perks if combod though doctor cant really do anything. Devs said they wanted to move away from perks full countering killers (like slippery and trapper sometime in the future)

    Encryptions can be broken.

I'd still like to see survivors being locked in their role at 30 seconds remaining so that they cannot pull any last-second switching.. but I doubt it'll happen, if Almo is to be trusted. Survivors always get a free pass on such issues.

I got told the exploit was here, but for me it looks pretty fixed, unless you know there's a way to translate this, don't assume anything when it's pretty clear they wanted to avoid you to use the new franklin's

  • oxygen
    oxygen Member Posts: 3,336

Of course it can be broken, but assuming they can't get their hands on the key(s) used in the process and that they can't easily just find the exact encryption algorithm used it's at best (for them, anyway) a very time-consuming task most of the time. Especially for an use as "mundane" as cheating in Dead By Daylight, not exactly the most lucrative market for that sort of thing.

And following on that... people making any sort of publically available/advertised cheat tend to either want monetary gains or "fame". If someone figured it out you better believe they'd either post it on the sorts of forums where you can find that sort of thing OR advertise some sort of paid product there. And I haven't seen anything like that from my curious investigating, it's just declared "Patched" with some desperate people begging for a "fix".

Someone might of course have figured it out and opted to keep it very exclusive as well, for them and the people they trust the most. That can work and keep it secret, but if they ever decide to try to spread it for any reason all it takes is one single person taking what they recieved sending it to the right people and it can get fixed, and until that happens its impact on the game is miniscule compared to publically available application sand scripts like what we saw with the log method.

The fact that they implemented a system which locks the killer you're using before fixing this problem only speaks volumes on how negligent BVHR's development team is.

Lol probably a very small few using this cheat. I never see survivors dodging or putting on these hard counter builds. I've had two survs tell me it's so and so over the past few months and that was it. Sometimes you get unlucky. This exploit is way overblown. A very select few are using it and the more you post about it the more survivors are going to figure it out.

I doubt they knew you were playing oni. They probably did that to avoid franklins, especially now since your item disappears and the killer can camp your item since its shown to him in a white aura now.

As a rank 1 survivor who normally plays with a team we always have keys and flashlights switch when the timer hits 8 secs.

So to the killer he only sees one or two survivors with a medkit or toolbox and most killers wont bring franklins if they only see 2 people with items and its not a key or a flashlight.

So in short they just didnt wanna lose their items, pretty sure they werent cheating unless you consider comms cheating 😆
