Legion Rework (Ideas)

Legion is a weak Killer, a very weak killer mind you but like most people some can manage to still pull through with him and have a stroke of luck when playing as him ending up getting a 3 - 4 man. But yet Legion is a very underrated killer that I see potential in, the problem is that the potential to make him a better killer isn't being put in yet. So I decided to attempt to toss in a few ideas and see how they resinate. My idea is to give Legion 2 new abilities that will most likely help him in the long, able to satisfy what Legion could of been also what legion is quite weak at.

Throwing Stars, Knives (Shiv) or Saw Blades:

Legion is good at mostly 1 - 2 things: Getting the First Hit off a survivor and Slowing the trial down. However where he struggles are the two main things that DBD killers need to be good in to actually be considered good killers, map pressure and ending the chase. His big weakness that also brings him down is having to juggle survivors from time to time, I'm saying it's a weakness because you can't really apply much pressure if you leave a survivor to do whatever. So I thought of a way to actually help him more in the chase but to make it fair for both sides, I have a certain way of obtaining this said power.

"From a Distance": Every time you hit 2 (or 4 survivors) in a single Frenzy you're rewarded with one throwable item that can Apply deep wound to Healthy survivors from a distance or down an injured survivor in a chase. You can have up to 4 throwables each time.

The throwable itself will also have a hitbox the size of DeathSlinger's harpoon arrow, so that it can't be abused with massive hit boxes and unpredictable connections to survivors. This I find fair since it's actually something you have to aim to get the best out of and something you might have to save to help in the long run with possible "Distraction Survivors".

Undetectable/Sneaking ability:

My idea for this would to give Legion the ability to become undetectable like Pig and Ghostface, however it might act like both of those killers it's completely used for a different method. Legion is a Killer who benefits greatly when survivors are clumpt up together, however it's hard to get those moments since as soon as a survivor hears a heart beat their idea is to hide or run which spreads each other out making them less likely to get chain-stabbed. I also enjoyed the idea about a Killer who looked like a survivor or acted like a survivor so I thought since that's what was conveyed in Legions cinematic trailer - I thought why not impliment it in.

"Among your Prey": Hold down Ctrl to holster your knife and remove your mask to become completely undetectable. Your movement speed is the same speed as a walking survivor and your animated walking in this mode is the same way survivors will be walking, hold shift to sprint like a survivor but 5% faster than a normal survivor. You can crouch, slow vault dropped pallets and windows. People within 24 or 16 meters of you during this mode will be revealed to you by Killer Instinct or Highlighted in Red (Like the type of highlight where if you play Myers and can't stalk a certain person anymore), this is to help Legion with Information to know exactly where the survivors are so that when they exit their power, the Frenzy won't be wasted. To activate Frenzy or to come out of the shadows from this mode, hold Ctrl to pull down your mask from under your hood and unsheathe your blade from your back pocket.

It's ability and functionality is somewhat like Pig and Ghostface's ability but it's primarily more like "Wailing Bell" for Wraith, because in this mode you're unable to attack anybody or interact with pallets and generator: like a survivor. This ability is to bring on false hope for survivors thinking that they might see another survivor from a distance, however for most survivors when they get closer - they'll realize it's actually Legion and run away. This power works best with 2 things: Sneaking up to get a better chance of chain-stabs and to give survivors false sense of security so that you can jump out and attack them. This also feels like an ability that can allow "Fuming Mix Tape" to be used much more and a bit more effectively since in truth, Fuming Mix Tape is a really bad ultra rare for Legion in general, however what makes this addon's ability great for Wraith is that his power has no cooldown to worry about so it's more effective for Wraith than Legion.

I know these changes might not be the best ideas yet and I'm more than certain many other people have much better ideas, but I thought I'd give a shot at my own since I've played a lot of Legion yet still struggle most times and was wondering if there was a way to give me a slight better chance on doing what other/better killers can do.

Mostly the idea today changed to consider "Among Your Prey" more than "From a Distance", since "Among Your Prey" can somewhat stay true to the original trailer for Legion, it can add an unpredictable feel for Legion and can allow players to use more strategy for the legion on top of "Stab to waste time for survivor". Plus it doesn't really make him too overpowered to a point he needs another nerf that guts him to hell.

If you want to read my suggestions for a rework, check out my draft but I love your idea of the throwable knifes and how you collect them. I could live with that, too :P

cool idea. really but. my guy legion has been filled with poision and gutted of everything. i just cant see him go through more pain. unless there is a change that makes his power better or just change him to something we can all agree on.

I feel like these powers can help him somewhat rise up a little bit out of where he might be. Mostly the throwing knives, since they're said to be "Ultra Violent", sure it's ultra violent to drive by stab someone and repeat.

Not a criticism of the suggestions themselves, but I would like to point out that the Legion DOES have map pressure, lots of it in fact. The problem is that he lacks the lethality to back it up.

Looking at the 2 abilities you suggested, I would NOT implement both of them. Having them on top of the main ability would be far too powerful. The shiv concept is very similar to Huntress hatchets in terms of usecase which is insane snowball potential, and having that on top of stealth and the amount of information frenzy gives would be a bit TOO crazy.

So out of those, I think the stealth idea has the most potential. Simply for a few reasons, all of which relate to how awesome stealth Killers are in terms of game health:

    • Stealth Killers are great against injured Survivors. So giving Legion some stealth would massively improve his lethality
    • Stealth is countered by situational awareness and looping. Meaning that it can be countered without requiring any complicated tricks on top of what you have to do in order to deal with the Frenzy
    • It is easy to limit stealth to avoid it being overpowered

Projectile attacks, especially if they can down, are not nearly as easy to balance. So a shiv attack would be better suited as a standalone Killer idea.

I mostly thought of the shiv fact since Legion has trouble ending chases like certain killers (Wraith and Trapper), and most times the game comes down to how fast you can stop the chase. Also the shiv idea is because if they're supposed to be really violent teenagers, then make them Violent show the potential threat they hold and have them become way more violent. I mean it is quite violent to stab someone with a fatal stab and wait for them to bleed out, however Deep Wound is clearly survivor sided because of the many counters to it and how really ineffective it is with downing people since everyone knows whenever it's inflicted they need to sprint and mend.

Yes, thematically it makes sense. But balance wise it's too much.

It's like if Plague could use corrupt purge pretty much whenever. If you ignore the perquisites and time limit, then corrupt purge would be the 3rd strongest ability in the game.

The other 2 being Nurse Blink and Oni demon form.

Blink because you really can't make an ability stronger than that, and Oni because it's similar levels of snowball and downing potential but it trades some anti-loop for a ######### ton of mobility.

Oni's ability is also balanced using the same methods as corrupt.

But either way, having Shivs like you described would be insanely overpowered.

Well I still wish they could have shivs or so. Just the whole Darkness Among Us Chapter needs a MASSIVE rework/fix to both Legion and Ormands. Since F**K Ormands due to how poorly designed it is.

    1st stab: inflict Deep Wound.

2nd stab: Deep Wound (with longer recovery)

3rd stab: Deep Wound ( Gains Ultimate Frenzy state that provides you 2 specials attacks)

->Knife throw: The legion throw his knife and Deal 1 damage state. (throwing your knife ends feral frenzy)

->Uncontrollable frenzy: being very close to a survivor(injured or healthy) you can jump on him (similar to Myers´s stone add-ons), knocking him down and stabbing him multiple times, leaves the survivor in a dying state.(feral frenzy ends during the animation)
