I thought MMR was running in preparation? Why do we need 10 more games to work it out?
First, I don’t believe the 10 game nonsense anyways because I’ve seen streamers play way more Than that and still get terrible matchmaking.
But why would it take 10 games to stable when @Peanits claimed the MMR was running in the background to gather data already?

Because the MMR needs to see how good are you in matches, so than later you will be matched against the opponents with skill closer to you.

MMR is separated for each killer. If you did not play a killer in long time, you need 10 games.
Not hard to grasp.
Edit: oh wait my bad. I forgot some people never actually touch killer because too scared yet talk about "balance" and NOED being crutch perk.

That was a weird end comment, I play both sides and I can tell you my survivor games are not balanced despite me playing a lot lately so MMR should have enough data to not give me killers so bad they get run for five gens.
Also as killer I have purposely been playing PH because he’s the one I’ve played the most/best lately and yet I still get baby survivors who hide all gsme and get 0-1 gen done total.

It’s extremely easy to grasp, and mods have said it was already collecting that data in the background so it shouldn’t still need it. Yes it will update over time but everyone should have started close to the right level

In any event, beyond posts like his with the typical stupid tribal talking point, I see more and more posts like yours, and its been my experience as well.
If it is '10 games' then someone at BHVR doesn't know how to count.

To answer that first bit, I believe the reason people still seem to get odd games after their "10 game set" might have to do with the people who have not done their 10 games. I'd assume this will become a far rarer occurrence later down the road but the first 10 matches pair you with random people. So even though you now have your 10 there might be many others all looking for their 10 matches that got paired with you as a MMR test on their part.
Just a theory I don't really know.

That could make sense at low MMR but not high MMR, and not for the situation I’m seeing.
Presumably people with no data would count as low, so I shouldn’t be facing them as a “good survivor.” Snabkm nit bragging, I’m not great by any stretch but I’m outclassing the killers I’m seeing.

And it ranks are meaningless now, why not just do away with them altogether? We’ve got player level and character level, is the rank just for status now?

That makes sense and I normally wouldn't even bring up my theory as a possibility, but due to DBD only now getting a MMR system and having all the playerbase dumped into this blender I feel it may not be working (ok I highly assume) as a normal MMR system would.

I played like 20 games and after a wave of potatoes and newbies I've started getting 4 man death squads so it's working for me

I've played more than 25 matches now and I'm still getting paired with potato team mates when I'm a rank 4.
