New ranking system is going to ruin the game for many new players

Hey team! Title sums up my thoughts, but for a better explanation:

I dont know exactly how the new MMR system works, but it looks like it doesn't take past games into account in any way. In addition to that, everyone who starts fresh isn't low enough, MMR-wise, to get killers at a low enough skill level.

I've played a number of survivor games since the reset, and I get matched with anything from red rank killers to rank 20's. The survivors I'm with are the same, anywhere from rank 20 with 1 perk all the way to rank 1's with full builds and thousands of hours.

The killer side isn't any better. I'm currently rank 1 (yes, rank doesn't matter, etc etc etc) and I'm getting games with people who have obviously never played the game before, or have maybe a max of 5 hours played. I just took these 2 screenshots of the games I played today, as a killer that I have hundreds if not thousands of hours of experience on.

Getting matches like this, where the skill or experience gap is obviously so massive wont be fun for anyone in the game, and has a high probability of killing interest of players new to the game. I like the idea of the MMR system, but it needs to not be a completely blank slate for the entirety of the player base, and new players need to start at a MUCH lower rating.

I think, the problem is that your basic skill with many killers is roughly the same, since you often try to double back to get the hit. Regardless if I play Freddy (my Main) or Doc (daily only).

Your knowledge of mindgaming stays the same. So you have an advantage if you play one of your weak killers.

    It's 3am for me here so I hope I didn't text #########.

I think this is a separate, but related, problem honestly. Assuming the new system stabilizes and performs as its intended (Which I'm hoping it will), this will become much less common, but will still be possible. An MMR system is designed so this will happen, but should be decently rare. However with a game like DBD, being a new player against an experienced player is really hard. My thought was maybe a separate section of people who are in their first 100 games or so. They could leave it at any time, but would give them the ability to only play against other new players. I don't know enough about the size of the player base, or balance in general to know how good an idea that is though.

Yes. They need the same newbie protection I got when I started 2 years ago. I didn't get green or higher ranks until rank 14 maybe. Then I could get everything since swf was matched by average and not by highest rank as it is today.

But around rank 20-15 there was only newbies like me and you couldn't depip lower than rank 16 without rank reset, so people couldn't seal club that easily.

This needs to be implemented in the MMR as well, so newer players are also a bit protected. Maybe not 100 games, but 50 or so on survivor and 50 for killer in general.

I recently brought the game ( I have a total of 80h). I play both killer and survivor (more survivor). I manage to reach for both killer and survivor purple ranks (approx. rank 7 with both).

Before the matchmaking update, I was matched with people that have roughly the same skills as me. Everyone had purple ranks, some times a red one, but nothing too bad. I had time to watch and learn what to do and what not to do by looking at other players and slowly expanding my game knowledge.

With this new matchmaking update, as a survivor, the first games I made were a mess. I was either matched with way more experienced killers or with new players (as survivors). Now things stabilized a bit, and are bearable. A killer... I dropped 3 ranks cause I am ALWAYS matched with more experienced players. There are games in which I can not do anything because people know how to loop perfectly and I, a fairly new player, have no idea how to properly mind game in order to catch them. I am really losing interest in playing the killer. Like, I would like to be matched with people with my level of experience and slowly learn the game rather than being matched with way too experience players and crashing you.

I miss the old matchmaking system.

Its already ruined it, tired of my rank 12 killer getting ranked with rank 1 and 2. Its really sad when Last Year game has a better matchmaking system than DBD and thats saying A LOT

It's really destroying my desire to play. I've got around 60 hours in the game, mainly play survivor and at first it was a disaster, losing 6 games in a row to red rank killers, then winning 2 against rank 20 killers who literally said at the end of the game "sorry, just bought the game and this was my first match." I'm not great at the game, I'm not very good at all when it comes to running the killers yet. Today seemed a little more settled? I'm not sure, won some and lost some.

Killer however, I just don't wanna play at all anymore. I'm not a good killer at all, and sitting at rank 15 but was trying to improve. Every. Single. Game is with red and purple ranks. Some without private profiles have thousands of hours in this game. I feel discouraged to even play killer, and a little uneasy about playing survivor. I know the new system is basically "ignoring ranks" but they absolutely still mean something in comparison to a newer player.

It's extremely discouraging trying to learn on a system like this. This games learning curve is SUPER steep, and just when I start to think I'm slowly getting a hang of things they do this so I can't learn when I'm gen-rushed, and ran around by 4 red rank survivors. I want to be better at this game and don't plan on giving up yet, but man they gotta give us noobs a chance.

It is not only bad for new players. I am pretty experienced with 3k hrs. My killer Matchmaking is OK now after I played Freddy for 10 matches.

But on survivor side, I did about 30 matches and I still get newer players as mates who just die in 10s against a killer of my skill. I don't want to solo q anymore. I am sick of dieing on 1st hook because the experienced killer found and killed the newbies first or me looping the killer for minutes and have not a single Gen popping because they are to scared to do anything.

I mean, I can imagine getting 3 or 4k as killer increases your MMR. But what is it for survivor? Looping? Gens? Hiding? Escaping?

What does it do when I get tunnel mori'd? Am I bad? Etc etc....

God... I play both sides and I would like to stay that way, but at the moment I would say I play killer or 4man swf. Nothing else. Solo is a pain.

And sorry for those newbies who I had to wipe the floor with as killer. I was trying to be nice and chill a bit. You are all so sweet. <3
