Vault hit boxes
The amount of times I've been in a chase and I'd do a fast vault through a window and get hit when I'm like 2 meters from the window.
I just feel like once the character has gone through to the other side of the window they shouldn't be able to get hit. Windows are meant to be used to bring distance between you and the killer, but if the killer can just slice you whilst the weapon is no where near touching you when youre body is through the window it just discourages me from using them in chases.
Not a rant or an argument please don't hate aha

Killers are meant to be able to hit survivors through windows. It's when you get hit, like you said, from 2m away it feels very bullshit.
Devs have expressed interest in fixing, or helping, this through making hits Server sided and improving servers in general.
15 -
great to know they've "expressed interest" rather than actually doing anything
3 -
They expressed interest in fixing maps, some maps were fixed. Expressed interest in buffing clown, clown was buffed next patch with probably more on the way.
If the devs left these servers like they were then I'd be pretty ######### sad.
7 -
i think the killer playerbase would plummet if they fixed latency tbh
1 -
I mean, on the flip side, killers have to deal with failed grabs, even if the animation plays through. It's down to latency. If they can fix their servers, it 'should' be an improvement.
7 -
Depends, I'd still play because it means a) ill be blinded by survivors ACTUALLY on my screen instead of when they're literally behind me, and b) grabs may work now.
1 -
I know the feeling. There are even times when I play killer and get a hit that even I know shouldn't have connected. Or, when a killer gets a pallet dropped on them, but a hit still smacks me and then it registers a stun.
2 -
whenever that happens, it is the only time a killer can get a vault grab BTW. So no matter how they change it, it will always be broken on one side or the other.
0 -
Oh my god the pallet hits when you stun them is so annoying, really winds my neck in
0 -
I'm talking about when they hit you with an attack not a grab.
The grabs are fair in my opinion as they only happen when you are midway vaulting.
But when you have vaulted onto the other side but get hit and end up 2m away from the window, it's just not how it should be
1 -
I'm assuming you're saying that because you think it's easy to do. So go ahead and tell them how it's done without breaking stuff in the process.
Killer player base is already low, simply because of the fact it's not fun anymore and the game is so survivor sided.
When I say the game is survivor sided I don't mean that killers can't "win". I mean the amount of ######### to micro manage and worry about just keeps getting bigger and bigger. It takes more skill to play killer than it does to play survivor now, which is wrong on so many levels. The issue with games like this - asymmetrical pvp - is one side has far more players than the other. So when the dominant side complains, they're more likely to get what they want, since it would be more of a blow to lose those players than the minority.
Let's say DBD has exactly 10,000 players. Evenly split between survivors and killers. That means 8,000 people are survivors while only 2,000 are killers. Now let's say 10% of those players from each side complain about balance issues. 80% of the complaints come from the dominant side, thus disproportionately representing the community. Things change in favor of the majority all the time whether intended or not.
Anyways, I'm sure you'll probably disagree with a lot of what I said but I thought I'd share my opinion.

you are not understanding me. To the killer, it looks like you are still vaulting. If they can't grab you, then your view is more accurate, but if the killer CAN grab, then it's the killer's view that is more accurate.
0 -
But if they are unable to grab me through a vault as my view is more accurate that should mean they can't hit me on that same vault, yet they still do even if my side is accurate or not
0 -
If youre already moving on the other side there shouldnt be a hit possible. Thats what it should be like, but it isnt. Killers arent meant to hit that far through a window. Same with pallets. But i doubt devs will ever be able to fix that with their Code and those poor servers.

Dedicated servers

Pallet stuns after hit are intentional. There is even an achievement for that. This is about timing

I don't know if the devs are going to fix the hitbox. It's been 4 years of DBD and they just want to fix it now. If they are really going to fix it, I hope it will be quick, as it is already getting very frustrating.

they gave survivors momentum when vaulting, it wasnt always like this,... killers miss more now than in the past. It was addressed long ago when they changed vaulting in favor of survivors.

I don't have a problem with vaulting as much as I do with dropping pallets. I genuinely feel like the hit box is free to killers who swing through pallets, even if they're stunned. We're stuck in an animation, that will even pull us back a short bit if you bait the pallet. SO yes, the animation definitely screws us over.

You can still be hit mid vault animation and through the window though? As intended? It's just the 2m hits away when you've finished the animation and are runni g that people have issue with though?
1 -
I didnt say you couldnt be hit, of courtse you can get hit, but vaults literally were adjusted in favor of survivors not that long ago so not sure what else people want. Oh I got it if you can be hit at all theres a problem. gotcha

For the most part this is usually not a problem with hitboxes.
If you actually look heard a lot of dual footage between killers and survivors you'll notice that what's On The Killers screen is different to what's on the survivors screen.
On The Killers side the survivor was just vaulting when they got the smack whilst on the survivors side they were probably already on the other side and had a bit of a distance.
The major issue with fixing this is telling who's in the right if you just give the survivor the priority then a lot of hits on The Killers end are going to look like they just phase through the survivor and if you give the killer the priority then you basically have the problem you have now.
Honestly this is most noticeable when it comes to vault grabs because on the killers in the grab goes through smoothly but on the survivors and they had already vaulted the pallet before they were Tracer recalled back into the grab.
On the other hand you could have it to where the killer performs the Startup to the grap animation and then is stuck there for a while before the survivor just teleports not giving the killer a hit or anything.

Windows aren't meant to make you immune to any damage. They are a hole in the wall, after all, not a magic portal that blocks attacks. If you are within range of an attack, it is totally normal to get hit through it.
That said though, if you're getting hit significantly after vaulting, that is usually down to latency. Server side hit validation is on the way, and it should help with that. Basically the servers checks where everyone was when the killer says, "I hit that guy". If it turns out the killer was actually too far away to hit them, it cancels that hit. In short, if someone has a bad connection, the game stops trusting what they see.

I just wanna not be hit whilst I'm literally running away from the window and a normal lunge couldn't get me. Which is what the devs are hoping to fix with server sided hits.
What OP wants with windows being making you immune? No thank you.

I do wish they would look MORE at vault hits and pallet hits. It seams to be the problem this game faces since Day one. Sometimes it really enrages me that on my screen a killer NEVER struck me, but somehow on their screen it was a "hit".
- The killer sees a strike they landed on the survivor that didn't count.
- The survivors sees a strike that should have missed, but still counted.
With this game that has the standard of "2 strikes defeat a player" and in some cases 1, it is much more noticeable. In FPS games, not so much, because of player health bars.

I agree it obviously isn't meant to make you invincible to damage. But when you pallet vault, there's a pallet in front of them which SHOULD prevent the killer from lunging over and attacking.
If the player has JUST vaulted then yeah it makes sense that the killer can basic hit the survivor. But when the survivor is on the END of a pallet, the killer should not be able to reach with a basic attack only a lunge attack which isn't possible to do when blocked by a pallet.

You know he is not talking about hits while in the animation. Every time people complain about vault hits is when you get hit after moving away from the vault, AFTER the animation. He specifically mentioned he was away from the window.
I don't know why you guys keep treating it like "omg he hit me in the animation".

That's cool and all but "on the way" doesn't excuse that fact this this happens almost every game show the killers ping or ping block killers that have ping higher than 100 so I can have enjoyable games and not want to delete this game every time I play it.

While killers can't grab you when your on the other side, they can still hit you through the opposite side of the window, they confirmed in a stream not to long ago that this is intentional. If you're getting hit like 5-6 meters away from the window, then it is dedicated servers acting up again.

Depends highly on how its done. If it is done where a killer with normal latency misses an attack that obviously should have hit on his screen but because the survivor has a ######### connection to the server its misses on his. Then yeah I think the killer player base would vanish over night. If however it only affects killers with ######### connection to the server then I cant really see it being that big of a deal. With that being said I have hit attacks even on my screen where I went "Hmm I dont think I should have hit that" and I only play matches with a green connection, with my meager 100/100 internet.
However I do find it hilarious how many people are attacking Peanits for not properly reading what the OP was writing. While they themselves ignored what he wrote. That if its was in regards to after the animation then thats because of latency and that they are working on reducing this effect. I know its not gonna be perfect but I think people have forgotten how bad ptp servers used to be. And im not saying you should be happy with what you got but at least admit that it has been worse and accept that they are working on it. It does get tiresome to read the same things over and over again about things that either have been communicated that they are working on it (not that long ago either) or that they have already said isn't a punishable offence. Like camping and tunneling.
Long term bugs and a feeling of lack of communication on other things fine. But at least try to find out some information before you just start complaining that nothing is getting done.

So will this now just cause the problem of killers swinging through survivors and missing on their screen?
0 -
One thing that's definetely not right is when you fall after vaulting, specially medium vaults. You are always hit long after you fall or when you land. This bs goes beyond latency.
