A lot of Demogorgon's add-ons are a mess

So I've been maining demoboy for almost a month now and having tried out all his add-ons and trying to switch up his playstyle according to them, I noticed some of them are just utter useless and some don't deserve the rarity they have right now, or shouldn't even be here at all.

The main thing is, more add-ons should focus on his shred rather than his portals.


1- Useless or values to small to give benefits, should be re-worked into something else / buffed

Undetectable time increase add-ons


Violet Waxcap +0.5s undetectable after emerging from a portal

Really BHVR, half a second?


Vermilion Webcap +1s undetectable after emerging from a portal

A second of undetectable, cool and amazing, considering they don't hear you emerging from the portal good luck getting this to work.

Time should be buffed tremendously.


Portal teleport recovery add-ons

The reason these aren't useful at all is because demo's teleport recovery is 14s, which is more than enough since the moment you emerge from a portal you immediately get into a chase, by the time that chase is over the 14s is bound to be up, or even if you get an injure.


Unknown Egg -2.5s


Eleven's Soda -2.0s


Barb's Glasses -1.5s


Should be removed and think of something else, I suggest the addons which reduce/eliminate the charge time on him (they used to be in the PTB).


Seal time add-ons


Upside Down Resin +3.3s


Thorny Vines +1.7s and 1.5m+ detection range


Viscous Webbing 1.7s+

If you're close enough to prevent a portal seal from being done 3 seconds earlier, aren't you also close enough to just place a portal in place of the one that just got cleansed?

Buff the values tremendously so that these add-ons actually make effect rather than be a minor inconvenience. Otherwise re-work them into something else.


2- Status effect add-ons


Lifeguard Whistle, exhausted for 5s when standing right on top of a portal

5 seconds is nothing, this add-on is the peak of the balance team scared of making useful add-ons in the game. Change the 5 to 20 or 25, then it'll almost be worthy of purple.


Brass Case Lighter, blindness 45s when standing right on top of a portal

In all honesty almost no one cares about the blindness status effect, considering they have to be right on top of a portal it needs to be more punishing, change blindness 45s to oblivious 30s and make this a very-rare if you please.

    They are useless but honestly, I don't even use his add-ons and I consistently get a 3-4k. The greys do make a difference but he's pretty capable on his own. Not saying his add-ons DON'T need a rework though.

    rats liver and tail should be baseline at least, give him 2 starting portals arleady placed at both ends of the map (+the default 6) and maybe tweak some addons to be more useful by adding an extra 2-3 seconds to alot of them, replace blind addon with oblivious at 30seconds as you recommended and i could see demo being used more often.


    been playing with him alot recently and rats liver+tail feel mandatory because portal setup is a slog, for a time saver they sure eat up time.

    After playing Demogorgon to prestige three and beyond for specific perks, In my opinion the vocal Demo players are misusing portals for surprise attacks over informational use and crutch misusing the shred.

    Perscriptions:

    1. Place the portals directly on generators. The portals are actually quite effective at gen slowdown as survivors want to break these often times. Also by putting the portals on generators the Demo guarantees the effects of his addons. After some setup it’s surveillance on the objectives.
    2. Stop holding shred during chase. The brown addon that increases Demo’s shred walk speed is a crutch and overrated. The demo would be better knowing the situations that guarantee a shred hit and react to the survivor rather than walk around holding shred for longer than three seconds.

    I think perhaps the status effect add-ons could activate on shred rather than on portal cleansing? Because that's when exhaustion add-ons actually shine

    Ah yes, here comes the "as a (arbitrary restriction like no add-ons) (x) main, this is what you need to do"


    Placing portals on gens is good, however it is even better when you place them in a spot that gives you even more value (such as between two gens that are close by). Also guaranteeing the effects of portal related add-ons is essentially useless when it's either 5 seconds of exhaustion or 30 seconds of blindness, wow, so useful.


    Also your statement about rat liver and holding shred clearly shows you aren’t as great as you think you are with Demo.

    You don’t have to like specific status effects, but in my opinion the additional time to break portals and increased range addons are useful. If survivors break portals first, that 80 second gen turns to 95~ seconds. The extra range reveals survivors hiding nearby and allows exit gate portals to be even more effective.

    I'm sure you recall all the complaints on Reddit, Steam, and even in this very forum regarding that crutch!

    And guaranteed downs/hits on certain structures/loops without wasting time doing 1-2 more loops? Definitely overrated!

    The rat liver is NOT overrated, it is the addon that can help you draw the line between the survivor turning a corner so you can land the shred, it allows you to take your time holding it so you make sure you land your shred, it's on top of all tier lists for a reason.

    It's simple, we just need more addons towards his shred instead of portals

    It's sad too, Demo is one of the more balanced killers and I always have a good time against one, win or lose.

    it sucks that his addons suck, maybe if they did something we'd see more of him.

    Good news then because last 2 QA streams they said next killer to get an update is demogorgon. They didn't say what kind but they said tweaks so it might be addon tweaks ? Power tweaks but either way it is a good thing demopls needs some love. Good boy demo.

    I only ever use Mew's Guts & Black Heart for shred cooldown.. helps with chase catch-up.. everything else is useless as already stated

    His addons deifnitely need a pass, but i don't want to see more lunge addons. Why? Because they could very easily break demo. Imagine an instalunge or the ability to move at 115% speed whilst charging it, would be more busted than deathslinger. Like clown, i'm worried they will do something with him that will just make him stupid.

    Completely agree, makes me loose braincells when demos walk around with their mouth open rather than actually learnign and choosing to use their shred at the appropriate times.

    No, it covers for you if you charge ur shred at the wrong time and allows you to zone survivors like dslinger and phead. All of which is unescasery if you're good at demo and know when and how to use his shred.

    The point of the add ons to increase seal time is because portals are also meant to be used as traps/bait.

    It’s not whether or not you can replace the portal or not, it’s about using Of The Abyss to see if you’ve successfully tricked survivors into attempting to close a portal, and then having the time to sneak up on the survivors.

    Using Demo’s Oblivious is WAY more powerful than Undetectable because in a lot of instances the portal sounds mask Demo’s sounds pretty well, until Demo is right on top of them.

    As per my previous comment they might be using Of The Abyss to detect survivors near portals specifically set up as a trap.

    Exactly. They should make all base killer decent and make their add-ons modify their gameplay/stats a bit so all can shine in some situation. Obviously some add-ons will always be less viable than other but they should try.
