Players who don't main Killer or Survivor [First Post]
Afternoon all,
This is my first post, so consider it also a bit of an intro I guess. I'm relatively new, started the game when the Silent Hill DLC dropped which I got due to how much a drought SH has gotten for content. Anyway, I've been playing Survivor and Killer rather equally, with a slight lean towards survivor as I tend to do duos with a friend of mine.
I recognize that with so little gametime compared to most (less than 200 hours), a lot of what I'm saying can be chalked up to new experiences - but I do want to get some insight into those folks who are in the same boat I am in - but maybe with more playtime/know-how: How do you feel your experience differs from those who main one side or the other?
I feel like I'm getting spectacular intel on how to juke killers I didn't know about by playing them, and I get killer intel from seeing how survivors handle me. However, I would say that on average, whether it's the new MMR system or whatever, that there isn't much room for learning and growth in the game right now. When I am playing through Survivor, there's a very real chance that others will DC before the first hook, suicide on the first hook, or otherwise completely give up - probably in an acknowledgement of the skill gap between the rest of us and the killer, but for people who are trying to learn the game - where is the potential to actually pick up stuff when the games are so drastically cut short?
Before the matchmaking update, there were obvious games where the ranking was substantially different, but right now there are times where people with rank 3 perks are competing against people who only have rank 1 - and only that one perk - obviously people just now picking up the game or trying out a new killer without the BP to boost it to having a full toolbelt of perks to work with.
I'm concerned that because of this new players and those with limited killer bloodpoints to spend are stuck in a hard place dealing with toxic players, or simply just being outclassed with the amount of BP spent on survivors (or on the other coin, killers) who've grinded out the experience and skills/abilities to steamroll.
With all of that said - what is the opinion of folks who can classify themselves as "experienced" with regards to picking up the game or the learning curve - is it fair to you or is it lacking? I personally lean towards lacking, and am now just doing challenges to get me through the gameplay - essentially taking the fun out of regular matches where the goal is simply to survive or kill.
Thanks for reading if you did, and I do appreciate your responses! See ya in the fog!

Additional question: Do you think it would make a difference on average gameplay if, say, the bloodpoints spent on characters had some level of play with regards to MMR? If someone hasn't earned a set amount, they probably don't have tier 3 ranks or prestiged characters, and as a result would match up with people who might not have that base advantage in the match? Not the -only- factor, but maybe one of them to help balance out the rank 20 1perkers with the SWF fully loaded or the Killer also fully loaded with top-level perks?
