BP grind is overwhelming and hurts the game
I started playing on pc around the time of the 4th anniversary event when everyone was using 4th year cake offerings and I grinded for all the perks I wanted. I got roughly half of all the killers teachable perks in that time and had cakes to spare to keep the grind up. Now that I've past the 200 hours mark I feel like there is still so much more to be done. I have all killer teachable perks except for the huntress which I am working on now and have started getting all the survivor teachable perks. Once I get all the teachable perks though I have to grind bp to continue to get the perks I want on all the characters I want to play.
The blood web system is a mess with how many useless items you get as survivor, and how many small blood point bonus offerings you get all both roles it almost makes it feel pointless to level up at times.
Another big problem is the shear difference in bp from killer to survivor, why do killers on average get way more bloodpoints? Why is the game designed like this where if you get wronged in a match (tunnel, camping, mori, slugging, etc.) you get punished? If you are playing swf and this happens to you, you have to wait an entire match if you die first and only come out with enough bp to get a few useless items.
I can't imagine what the grind is like for new players that didn't have the luxury of the 4th anniversary event. Are we ever going to see changes to this system? Or are we banished to the grind dimension forever.

Soon David's perk will be changed to blood points, but even after that, there is a difference in the gameplay. For survivors, in order to earn blood points, you need to do sometimes useless things, for murderers, everything gives blood points to win, I think this was done on purpose to play more for the killers. Although, while the killer is playing one game, the survivor will have time to play two, so without statistics it is hard to say which of them is more beneficial.

and its not a free to play game imagine if it was how much grinding they would make us do

I started DBD on PS4 in March 2019. By February 2020 I had fifteen P3 killers and seven P3 survivors. February I moved to PC.
I have seventeen P3 killers and six P3 survivors. It’s not too much. Especially with events like the COVID Blood Rush and Anniversary event.

Holy #########. I started over on PC in January and I have like five P1 characters in total... how many hours have you put in to grind that fast?

I guess to each there own, I don't find enough time or energy to grind that much for so long just to play the game how I want to play it.

It really doesn’t take long to do it. Play killer with bbq during a BP event. I maxed at least half my killers during the 4 year event

But should we really have to wait for an event to level up are characters in a healthy amount of time?

Play killer with bbq. I did the other half in about 2 weeks or so

I totally disagree, I play a decent amount of killer and between BBQ, events, puddings and the tomes I’m still nowhere near P3ing even half the characters.

u dont need to prestigie do it if u want also of the i dont know 6 pages of survivor perks 5 are pretty much useless at the higher ranks. so after u get the ones u want is enough same but are less 5 pages at the moment, for kiler get the ones u want and dont get to overwhelmed for it. is not that big of a deal anyway, is dumb to get all perks if u are never gonna use more than 20% of them anyway. however i sugest to get Leatherface and BBQ to make it more doable.

But it is a grinding game....... That is like saying, play monster hunter without grinding or play Idk call of duty without levelling up.
The grind is a part so people can play more.
But I agree, we need a double bp event again soon since we didn't get one during the 4th year event, in fact so far this year iirc we only got the 1.5x.

Same. I have over 550 hours since February. I have 3 killers at level 1, the rest some where between 40-50 (I did spend beyond their levels though on some to get decent perks), and all survivors between 40-50. No prestige on any of them. That's quite a bit of time to not have at least one character on one side with all the perks and trimmings.
This thread sums up how deep the grind is: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1276207

That forum really puts things into perspective, yikes. I am definitely not going for p3 anytime soon lol.

@GoodLookinCookin easy and immediate changes that would make it more bearable:
1) Every prestige level you unlock for a character you get their perks automatically at that tier (at p3 they are fully ugraded as soon as you p3)
2) Every devotion level, pick any perk you have unlocked, you now have that full unlocked for all characters.
3) Increase daily rituals and BPs from archive challenges by 200-300%
4) Increase BPs during events to 3x and make the cakes much more common.

1,100 hours on Steam. I also forgot to mention that I complete dailies and completed all of the Tome/Archive challenges (each gives easily two million apiece).
I think a major difference is how I approached the game the ‘second’ time through. Much more efficiently (especially in managing teachables) and already had the game knowledge from my console days.
Seriously, the events made a huge difference. I completed six prestiges (five killer, one survivor) during the March COVID Blood Rush, which was way more than expected.

I don't see a huge problem with it. You can get the full survivor meta with 3 characters to 40. David / Bill / Laurie and you have BT / DS / Unbreakable / Dead Hard and can run double BP the whole time until you get it.
Killer will take a lot longer since they are more than skins, but then again the killer meta is also only a handful of perks as well. You can have full meta killer builds with only a few killer characters to 40 as well.

the grind isn't that bad because the vast majority of the perks in this game are absolutely useless. There's a few that are fun. And then there's like 8 or 9 meta perks that have largely been in the game forever, since nothing new for the meta is released anymore.

i been saying grind is bad i had idea let us sell add on for half the price we pay for them i even made a thread on it.

This is an important point. I hated the grind when I started out, but now that I'm 2.5k hours in, I actually want more stuff to grind and accomplish. Because at this point, there's nothing left for me to achieve anymore.
But yes, the barrier to entry for new players is definitely too high.

Exactly!! For newer players it is harder since there are too many things out, every 3 months there are more perks, prestige etc.
For older players, yeah usually by now everything should be unlocked.
This is why I hope the devs bring a double bp event soon, dbd being cheaper right now will bring new players BUT the grind will be way too much for them.

It may be easier to get BP as a killer but the sink is much deeper as killer as well. For survivors, you really only need to hit 40 on anything that isn't your main. Since survivors are all the same with the exception of looks. Killers, if you want to play them with the Perks require many lvl 50 passes to get the Perks you want. Of course, if you don't want to play a killer then they also only need 40'd.
I agree, however, the grind is very intense and really unnecessary overall.
