4.1.2 billy vs PTB billy
PTB billy
4.1.2 hillbilly
Notice anything?
That's right, hillbilly is now basically the exact same as ptb billy and bhvr just pretended to fix him so we wouldnt be upset. Aside from cooling down when ending a sprint and not overheating when the charge is going down, the numbers are like the exact same. I'd like to hear thoughts in the comments.

Rip Hillbilly.

What does this mean?
Is he ded?
Is he OP?
Oh wow, they nerfed him even further. I wonder what the ######### are these developers smoking to constantly come up with such poor quality updates.

I'm very sad honestly. As someone who loved curving as the billy, the overheat will be now a painful limit 😟
7 -
Lmao. You forgot to mention that while not actively revving, the heat doesn't build up, and the chainsaw cools right after you end the sprint, instead of cooling after the stun from the sprint is over. These are 2 major things.
21 -
This is misleading.
First, Billy in PTB builds up heat while feathering his chainsaw (holding and letting go of revving), live Billy doesn't anymore, cutting down a huge source of his heat.
Second, live Billy loses heat while he is in the middle of a cooldown, like missing a chainsaw. I don't know the exact numbers, but if a chainsaw cooldown is 2 seconds, then he loses 7 charges of heat before he can make another move.
You can disagree with a change, but be factual about it.

I mean they had to do something. They decided to change Billy and gave him the overheat mechanic. But I haven't overheated my chainsaw in over 10 games, so obviously they had to change Billy again. Maybe he is terrible again, maybe not.

Seriously, they almost ended him once already. I am really worried about this. I guess we spam RIP Billy again.

They're refusing to listen so they can show that their overheat mechanic was the right thing to do. But everyone agrees it's not.
5 -
good point, but i still think this change is too much as billy isn't even good in the first place. most people would agree without his old addons hes not top tier or overpowered by any means, so really any change making his overheat prominent is just so uneccesary and frustrating, especially when they currently have a broken mmr in place
4 -
what do you mean not even good he is one of the best. He is next to nurse and oni on the snowball potential.
2 -
Are we pretending they didn't change anything from PTB to live?
2 -
no, actually. of course this is subjective, but talk to many experienced players and they will tell you he isnt very good anymore, i even saw otz place him in like mid b tier in his recent video.

yes, and now theyre changing it back so its very similar to ptb numbers
1 -
You might want to read the link thoroughly. The changes they made weren't expressed in numbers.

I do think the rate of heat cooldown needed a change as Billy would never overheat due to the heat disappearing too quickly but I would have changed it to 4 charges per second. We'll just have to see how it pans out with the current changes to Billy as the feathering change was massive in terms of fixing Billy.
You should probably also edit your OP to account for the feathering and cooldown changes. Wouldn't want to spread more misinformation.
1 -
yes, but changing dissipation still makes it very similar with those small things

ok

Those numbers dont achieve anything. They wanted to stop hook revving, but it still takes over 20s to overheat. Due to the cooldown you can still do 5 crossmap chainsaws before overheating. So you can still facecamp and spam the saw, what they wanted to prevent.
What are you trying to achieve devs?
Maybe try higher numbers like 20 heat buildup per second and 10 recovery per second. Then you can only hold the chainsaw for 5-10 seconds at 99% but it also cools down in less than 10 seconds, allowing him to chainsaw if there is a good opportunity but preventing him from holding it for ages.
You overheat is still doing nothing, now its just a forced slow cooldown. But it still does nothing in the first place

RIP again
1 -
Of course everyone was accepting new Billly because his overheat mechanic was useless, lmao. You rarely overheated when using your chainsaw. I think most of us knew he was gonna get nerfed again. I'm happy.
2 -
10 heat per second rev to 8 is a massive difference literally his heat generation when revv is 20% less than it was on PTR and he gets heat drop during the stun if he misses and the feathering rev change. He isn't like PTR and while this may still be an overnerf the patch has been out less than 2 hours give it time

Never seen a Killer have 2 funerals in a row. RIP my boy

i do say he needed a nerf but not that nerf tho

Actual garbage from the part of the dev team that is hellbent on balancing around rank 20s. I thought maybe the reasonable voices that are still left had won out. But I guess not. Just keep alienating the skilled players and vets who put in the effort to learn counterplays and whatnot. That has never gone poorly for any game, ever. It's pretty clear that the OGs on the dev team are being drowned out by the new voices who are, quite frankly, clueless about how this game is played at a high level.
1 -
I like how people say that it was changed because the overheat mechanic didn't come into play that much as if billy needs the overheat in the first place lol
He's like a solid b tier killer he doesn't need a stupid cool-down
0 -
It's also pretty pointless balancing around rank 20s when they don't do anything else to make the experience any less crap for new players. The grind, the matchmaking, the lack of a practice mode or anything but the most basic tutorial should scare off any sane newcomer anyway.

People really do be out here forgetting that new Billy doesn't heat up while unrevving and loses heat during cooldown animations.
0 -
Agreed, I have only ever heard of people complaining about double charge add-ons or double doom engravings. It was one easy fix, just don't make them stack.

To be sh1t

On the PTB actively revving added 10 charges per second to overheat out of 100. Now it is only 8 charges per second to overheat. That's a sizeable difference, it means the current chainsaw is still overheating 20% slower in a chase than it did on the PTB.

Only if people like you would educate themselves instead of crying every damn time...
It's not the same billy:
1.Heat dissipates during the cooldown phases, PTB billy didn't have that.
2.Heat is only generated while holding down the power button, not when pressing, resulting in 60% less heat .
Tell me again how he's the same.

Bruh that’s cuz the live fix made him old billy he never even overheated unless you forced it just learn when to use your saw and you will be fine it will still not charge up to overheat as fast all that changes is it doesn’t basically auto recharge to 0 everytime you let go of the saw
2 -
He’s been made into the perfect save the best for last contender. Been playing him with that perk for a few matches and he’s insane.
0 -
Wrong. Billy was horrible in the PTB but since he loses heat when letting go of the chainsaw instantly it's much less annoying now. If you don't press M2 you always lose heat, when ending a chainsaw it's also instant. It's much better than the PTB even when the numbers are almost the same.

He did need a CD. It was stated that Billy was over performing... He wasn't as balanced as some people claim. 🤷♂️

"It was stated that Billy was over performing"
Bro stop lying
They legit stated he was fine in the dev update
The fact that the devs even sayed he was fine shows how he doesn't need a CD

THE HILLBILLY
The Hillbilly has a versatile kit with traversal and double-damage effects as a part of his base power, leading this character to overperform compared to other Killers. These changes introduce a resource management aspect to place some limitations on access to his tools.
I'm not lying. This was in the 4.1.0 Patch Notes. @oh_0k
