My idea to update discordance.

I put this in another thread, but I think it was passed over and not read since it was more than 12 words (A sad reality for most of the more thoughtful posts here on the forum...) Anyway, I think this could really freshen up Discordance as a useful perk. I’ve made slight edits from my original post btw. So, what do you think?


“Discordance is so annoying! Useful, but annoying. Here’s how I’d like to see it edited:

When 2 or more survivors are on a gen, receive a loud noise notification (only one) and the gen will have a yellow aura for as long as multiple survivors are working it. Receive a token each time Discordance produces a loud noise notification, up to a max of 2/3/4 tokens. 15 second cooldown between token gains. Consume a token to further damage an already damaged/regressing generator. (This is equal to a normal kick, and can be applied while Ruin is active)


I think this could be very powerful, but not OP. There’s plenty of counterplay to deny tokens by not teaming up on gens (which is more efficient anyway.) And it’ll be easy to tell when a killer is using this perk as you witness him going to town on that poor machine. On top of this, the killer has to decide whether to damage a single gen up to 5 times (initial kick + 4 tokens’ worth), or spread the pain around knowing that more tokens are now less likely to be earned.

But here’s why I like it. It makes it worth your while to travel across the map to a discordance gen. Most of the time you get there and it’s so far gone that kicking is almost pointless. Now you can actually make a real dent on that gen’s progress and stand a chance if they try to “tap-swarm” it. Furthermore, no more annoying booms every few seconds!”

    If we could just do something about that continuous boom then I’d be happy. Still, I feel like this kind of “tokens” change would bring this perk up to top-tier usage.

    Devs said something about editing how discordance works. Not sure what they really meant by that

    Yeah, they were referring to people asking for the option to choose tiers, since some people think tier 1 discordance is better. Basically they said it ain’t gonna happen.

    That’s why I think my idea here is still viable. It’s simply a change to a perk, not the entire perk selection interface.

    They said they'll be reworking it so that the 3rd tier is what is wanted other than tier 1 as is now.

    I always had thought (well use to think) the noise was based off the survivors' skill checks.

    Although if it weren't. It should be.

    Since at times, skill checks are drawn apart depending.

    Is that what almo meant? He said something about new design to discordance. I personally am not sure if it's just about swapping tiers.

    The idea that you’ve suggested can be a very devastating three gen strat. I think it’s best to leave it as a info perk, one loud notification and keep the gen yellow until the survivors are off the gen.

    it sounds good on paper, but it could ultimately indirectly nerf it by the survivors fearing the gen progress regression, which would lead to less survivors grouping up on gens throughout the matches (and denying you extra map knowledge and tokens)

    seeing as how good survivors split up anyway, it’d become extra useless since they’d definitely never group up on a gen

    id like the aura and notification change though, itd make it less annoying to run
