How do I counter red add ons?
so im not a new survivor as such, ive been playing about 7 months, a few hours a week. My play time has been upped recently and I've made it solo to red ranks. Now its rare but how on earth do I counter red add ons for killers? I seem to be seeing a lot of them recently, more so than normal. Having entire team downed by a huntress with one hit kills wasnt fun. Game lasted less than 2 minutes. Getting killed by a Myers who can freely kill people at level 3 power was not fun, game over within 2 minutes of match starting. Being banged by a silent wraith who can see you through walls from miles away qhenever he is invisible.. you see where this is going. I literally give up and die on hook when I come against these guys. I dont have every perk unlocked im still making my way through levelling characters. I have no idea how to counterplay something this vicious.

The only one that is legit too powerful is the Huntress. Myers has to do some hardcore stalking before he can straight up kill someone. If people break line of sight against him constantly when he is trying to stalk. You will probably finish most if not all of the gens before he gets a kill. The wraith's is pretty decent but the range is kind of small. And he still needs to chase you like normal. You will have to just play a bit differently against those types. Hiding against Myers, and hiding less against Wraith.
Huntress though....she's probably gonna win. Iri head is extremely unbalanced.

Silent bell wraith doesn't allow wall hacks purple all seeing does, Myers has a tombstone piece and a full one, stop having stare contest against him, which it ain't easy while playing solo survivor because teammates will feed him T3, irri hatchet just die on hook and move to another match, the only counter play to it is do not get hit by a hatchet and hope the huntress is bad, other than that there is no counterplay.

The Myers was a ridiculous game, my teammates literally took it he wasn't gonna attack them and just sat there feeding him. I often say bad teammates are way worse than a good killer.
The wraith I cant remember the addons exactly but his movement speed was fast as hell, silent bell and yeah he could see us from some range. He mori'd us all within a few minutes it was brutal.
Also ive noticed since cross play was introduced there seems to be a real go to meta for killers. Ive been playing literally about 6 hours tonight and virtually every killer has the same setup involving bbq, play with your food, nurses calling and the 4th differs from time to time but is usually thantaphobia or ruin. Its getting boring now lol.

It really depends on what the addon is. Most red addons arnt really OP with most of em either having kinda gimmicky effects or having large downsides. Amanda's letter for example on Pig gives you abit of aura reading while crouching in exchange for reducing the amount of traps she has from 4 to 1 and making that 1 trap VERY easy to get off since theres only 2 jigsaw boxes.
As far as how to counter the addons, much of that comes down to the same thing as countering the killer's perks as well...by identifying what your up against. Using Amanda's letter as an example, if you see theres only 2 jigsaw boxes...you know what shes got in which the only thing it's really going to effect is knowing that you cant stealth around her while shes very closeby while crouched.

I guess thats my biggest downside. I dont really ever play killer, I find it boring. So I dont know what they can do at higher ranks and I'm missing the knowledge.

There's only a few that are ridiculously OP, and even then there's some purples that are way stronger. For the most they are more meme add-ons than useful ones. But, in general, if the killer brings strong add-ons... You should have brought strong items. Yeah, dumb, but that's the ethos of second chance perks as well.

Hag's Mint Rug is extremely strong, giving her godlike map traversal powers. So is the Clowns iri potion that automatically causes Exposed on top of the slowdown. They are certainly not gimmicks.

Myers red add on are a pain to use.

honestly I'd say you take a blue crayon to the red addons.. and that makes them purple. I think this counteracts them well? :P (yes I am being sarcastic)

If Myers used his red add on and got to t3 in 2 mins your entire team made serious mistakes.
To answer your question it depends on the add on. For silent wraith it just means hes probably getting a free first hit, tgen you can loop the crap out of hi..
Myers tuft of hair dont let him stalk you. Duck and move around cover to extend that process as much as possible. Most of tge time if everyone does that he wont hit t3 until 5 gens are done.
Huntress IRI head is op, that one ill give you.
It helps if you play the killers and see how theyre used, that hdlps a bunch in recognizing and knowing how to counter rdd add ons
