A way to remove last second switching
It's a rather annoying problem I've noticed quite a few survivors doing, to protect their keys and flashlights.
I think it can be prevented by making the survivors auto lock at 10 seconds left on the timer so that they can't change anything at all

They do it to avoid franklins and lightborn

Yes, killers have been asking for this for a long time. I'm not sure devs have ever acknowledged it, and the survivor response has been "but I need to do it to avoid Lightborn/Franklin's/moris. I shouldn't be punished for bringing in an item!" Their argument seems to hinge on the idea that four survivors bringing in extra advantages is part of normal gameplay but a killer preparing for said advantages is not. (Before I get a nasty response, let me say that both things are part of normal gameplay.)
Seeing a lobby last-second switch to three flashlights and a key against my newbie friend playing killer left a really bad taste in my mouth. Broken matchmaking was partially to blame for that, but only partially. Since then, my response to last-minute switching is ditching the lobby (if there's still enough time) or standing at the exit gate forcing them to do gens without killer interaction and leave.
On a related note, I amuse myself by running Lightborn at all times to frustrate anyone who finds a flashlight in a chest and thinks that no killer would be stupid enough to run Lightborn with no flashlights in the lobby. Hah! Gotcha.

To be honest, I see no reason why you shouldn't have to lock your survivor in before you ready up, just as with killer. It's just a small change, but it's something that would be simple and effective, and I can't really imagine any back lash against it.

Got a team that changed last second twice, first I was nice and played huntress on midwich against OoO, next match, same names same survivors, I brought irri hatchet and soldier belt.
I don't think last minute survivor change is fair, the point of seeing the survivors in the lobby is to prepare and see what they have, they should lock survivors at 20 seconds left and let the killer see what they have and prepare.

I had someone yesterday last second switch to a key with a white ward, then they had an absolute cry in the end game chat that I tunnelled them, which I sorta did. Someone else got hooked between each of their hooks but I was making certain they died first so the key would get removed.
Like what do you want me to do? Just ignore that you have a key then act surprised when 3 people escape as soon as the first dies?
Funny part was that they said they were just putting points into other characters and they weren't last second switching, and then ten seconds later they said they were doing it for a challenge.

If survivors are just skins as the devs keep saying, then they need to do away with the bloodweb per survivor and literally treat them as skins with a single perk pool and bloodweb.
Survivors that switch now keep the same perks and items.

Last night, as a Survivor, there is another saying "its Yamaoka", and in game it was Spirit.
Currently Killer being locked while survivor somehow able to know which killer they're going to face. If combine with surprise key/flash light, it will be a huge advantage.
Survivors are supposed to be surprised by Entity, not Killers.

It is kinda ironic that there's no last-second protection for the Killer, since the Killer seeing them in the lobby is the advantage the devs try to provide to the Killer, yet these few button presses that could completely circumvent that advantage hasn't even been addressed for multiple years, except maybe Mcote read a question about it once on a stream and said: "We're not looking into that right now".
Though i find it ironic, personally i don't mind it either way, i'm on here while i load into the trial anyway.

Which is why survivors shouldn't be able to switch after a certain time. There's a reason these perks are still bad is because they could either have high impact or literally zero impact in the game. Too inconsistent and unreliable to always have equipped because it needs to be based around the survivors loadout.

Surely it would be the simplist option to lock characters once in the game lobby - make killers and survivors choose their perks/items add points BEFORE they ready up. Would save waiting in the lobby so long (there's always one who won't ready up) and no one has the chance to second guess what the other side brings so no last minute switching. It would also ease the pressure when you're playing in a group and your friends insist on rushing to the next round and push you to ready up while you want to spend a few bloodpoints and rejig your perks - I've been there and ended up running with the wrong perks because they pushed that much for me to ready up that I did and we got into match far quicker than I expected.
I've been on the receiving end of killers who lobby dodge or quit during the match loading because they dont like what survivors bring. I've also done this when playing killer myself when a last minute switch gave me four brighly coloured claudettes all with torches, for example. This is something that definitely needs to be addressed.
