Allow for Chat for Console Players
So Cross-Play has been here for a week or so now and it works for the most part. Only problem is the stigmas have started to permeate through the community.
Playing with Console Players is generally more laggy
The average Console player is generally worse in terms of playing the game than the average PC player.
and to top it all off, even if I did find a console player that I wanted to continue playing with, I can't even send them a message asking how they doing or if they want to queue up again.
Why again do I want to queue with these players? If I can't even talk to them during a lobby or after a game then what's the point? Faster load times to get into notably worse games? Does BHVR think that console players don't know how to type? People used to write salty comments all the time on Xbox Live and PSN during the CoD days, you think they can't type a simple, "Hey you wanna queue up" after a match is done?

Yes much better. If people want to talk to toxic people just go out and talk to teenagers or something 😁
1 -
Agreed, most people on DBD act like there 12 yrs old and there dad is a VP with the hells angels. Think they can say and do whatever they want, internet rockstars but face to face meh.

So what exactly is the problem with turning off the chat if you experience so many "toxic" people? PC players can do this no problem, I don't understand why this couldn't be done for Console players who don't want chat.
A few bad apples shouldn't ruin the bunch for all of the good boys and girls who actually want to be able to play the game with other people.
Also, wouldn't you find less toxic players by queuing up with people you know are friendly and want to work together with you? How do you expect to find these people without a chat? DbD is objectively more fun playing with friends, makes zero sense to not do this. There's a discord but then you have to download a whole separate app just to be able to talk to people when there's a perfectly good chat function built into the game that the devs don't want to use for some reason.

Inb4 "way less toxicity" post
Really turn off the dam chat if you're bothered by what people say. Crybabies
9 -
Because it's not just "a few" bad apples it's much worse than that. And they are even making threats or telling people to kill themselves. These are real problems we are not talking "camping" or "t-bagging" here which people wants to fix. This is much much worse, and we have such an easy solution for this.
3 -
Solution ia report the player making death threats. Or if you cant handle anonymous a-holes then turn the chat off. Why does the majority need to suffer because of the minority?
2 -
You know there are young people/children playing games like this not ready for or expecting these messages.
3 -
Peanits gave a reply on the topic in this thread:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/184122/my-biggest-issue-with-crossplay#latest
2 -
Those children probably shouldn't be playing this game since it's rated M, just because there parents aren't doing there jobs doesn't mean we should play babysitter.

Suffer? Is it really that awful just playing the game? Think about all the toxic players that just wants to attack people after the game, they must be fuming 😄
1 -
Chat usually goes one of two ways:
Killer: GG
Survivor: GG
Survivor: GG
OR:
Killer or Survivor: (If they win, and sometimes if they lose) GGEZ (If they lose) (Insert Slurs and Expletives as you see appropriate)
Doesn't seem worth it to me.
3 -
I know but there will always be kids out there playing games like this. Or for that matter adults that can't handle being threatened very well. I just don't think it's worth it just because some people wants to chat, but it's up for debate like everything else of course.
1 -
Im fuming. I like to tell the killer gg after every match. If i see someone make a good play i like to tell them. If i see someone struggling and turns out they are beginners i like to offer advice. I can't do any of that. Not even to fellow xbox players. Sure i can friend them and then send messeges but thats not what i should have to do to say gg. Or well played.

I couldn't care less for a post chat.
Normally I just get salty people on one end or the other, so I just skip it. That's one of the reasons I like playing on console more than on pc.
But if there's an option to disable that box, then I'm fine. On the other hand, a lobby chat can be useful to trade info about the perks we're using as survivors.
1 -
I want the chat cut out of the pc ver so my toxic bad word in chat.
1 -
His response basically amounts to, "CoNsOlE pLaYeRs No TyPe FaSt" which is just untrue. Maybe people that aren't used to doing it but like I said, you play any CoD game and you'll get hundreds of salty comments written at lightning speed.
0 -
Yes it's sad but it's the fault of the toxic people, and they are many. It's just like having complete lockdowns for a virus it's not because all these people that washes their hands and keeps distance, it's because of the people who do not.
2 -
Which is my point. Why are good people suffering because of crappy ones?
Ban the death threats and move on.
1 -
Hey, I never said it was a good excuse. Just that he replied about it. 😂

Sadly, this is the world we live in now. Thanks to idiots with no common sense doxing, or getting people doxed, over the normal in-game trash talking that goes on, that in at least one case led to a death. Game companies don't want that kind of attention, and so now do what they can, in some studios, to just keep people silent to each other.
1 -
We do have an easy solution, close the chat if you don't want to participate in it.
0 -
Yeah pls BHVR enable chat for crossplay so I can get more salt in my steam profile.
1 -
As a console player I would be fine without this most of the messages from it are not so friendly to put it lightly perhaps a lobby chat could be fine as the host of a lobby you could still have full control on what is sent there but anything else is just a doorway to more bm
0 -
You can't go on the profile of Console players and vise versa for Console players to Steam players. Even then though, just turn off comments on your profile or make it friends only.
A few bad apples shouldn't ruin the bunch
0 -
I was being ironic.
I actually have my steam profile comments section open to get salt, because I enjoy that. I laugh a lot reading the comments I get.
0 -
If thats the case they should remove it from pc also. Fair is fair.
1 -
I wouldn't mind being able to chat with the console players as a survivor while in the game lobby, or post game chat as killer. I usually like to give people constructive feedback on how they can possibly improve their game play, or compliment them if they did really well. This is also how I've found a bunch of random people to play to have more fun.

ABSOLUTELY NOT. if you play on console and never play on PC, thank the heavens you never have to experience pre-game or post game chat.
Within 5 matches of playing the PTB today, the following:
Game #1:
Pre-game chat:
"Hey guys, med kits look a little weird?" "You know what looks weird, you're mom's p***y, that's right, get f'ed"
Post-game chat: (same game, different survivor)
"that ######### dc'ed loooool" "?" "eat s***t p****y"
Game 2:Post-game chat (killer): "Why did I bring party streamers if 2 of you pussies are just gonna DC. Can't handle a god-like killer can you?"
Game 3: Post-game chat (killer and survivor): "######### all of you #########, ######### #########"
Game 4: Post-game chat (everyone): "ggs"
Game 5: Post game chat (everyone): "ggs"
Last time I played off the PTB (played on PC for about 2 months, months ago) was usually some form of racist remarks, that you should go #########, a narcissist who raves about their body and starts calling you overweight and how you need to look at their instagram and pleasure yourself to them (not kidding, that was from a baby streamer too), etc.
Seriously - if they add chat to console I'm done. That's the main reason I don't play on PC, except for the PTB anymore (and even that, I usually only play 3-5 games)
1 -
Children shouldn't be playing this game.
3 -
They should add chat to consoles but add a toggle for it in the options and have it off by default. They should add the toggle to PC too for consistency, even though you can close the chat
1 -
If it bothers you so much, why dont you turn the chat off?
0 -
That's why there's an option to toggle it off or on.
1 -
Turn off chat, simple. PC players can do it too and this is no problem for them.
A few bad apples is not an excuse to disable chat for all the good boys and girls who genuinely want to talk to other people

I primarily play on ps4 as I have the most hours. But I do play on PC as well, the over exaggeration of toxic before and after chat is ridiculous. I played like 20 games on the PTB and only had one toxic thing said, and that person dc'd as soon as they got downed. Other than that, friendly people.
Also...stop being so toxic and give me the option to talk to others. On whatever console I'm playing on. Trying to censor me and others isn't nice. Just because you can't handle the occasional troll doesn't mean I can't.
1 -
Can we just enable it already, if people don't want it they can disable same as cross play. There is no valid reason not to have it other than toxicity, if your easily offended by strangers on the internet disable it. We're all playing the same game after all it makes zero sense that a large portion of your player base don't have an option to communicate while PC players do
0 -
I agree with you on that front. Honestly, in this particular game it serves little real function except to troll and insult. I've had mine closed for 18 months now. Hell, this community is why my entire Steam profile is private. It never used to be, until I started playing DbD and learned the hard way.
1 -
People like you who don't know that a mute or in this case a "close chat" function exists are the reason why Console doesn't have chat
0 -
“People like me” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
0 -
I wouldn't like that. Just finished with a bitter Red Rank SWF, so I'm quite happy I can just block them.
Problem is that console is worse than pc since a controller isn't good enough to take on a keyboard and mouse combo (balance is way off, and the couple of games I played on crossplay put me off because of the clear discrepancies and frame rate). And from seeing the multitude of salty comments experienced on there I'd never use it.
0 -
Yeah, people like you. You claim that people are toxic in DbD, yet you continue to look at the chat and continue to be bothered by what you see. You claim to have negative experiences in chat, so close the chat, don't look at it then if it bothers you.
I and plenty of other people have had plenty of good experiences in the chat and it's dumb to get rid of chat completely simply because people are going to be salty in an online multiplayer game. If I have a good experience with another individual, I would like to continue having those experiences, I cannot do this if they literally can't see what I'm typing to them.

Message them...like every other person on console. Can write love letters in crossplay? Boo hoo
Also, it has nothing to do with “people like me,” pretty sure if it’s been 3 years on console, it’s something they can’t do, or don’t care to invest in. So, relax almighty one
0 -
Can't messege anyone. Thats the point.
0 -
Also, it has nothing to do with “people like me,”
Except it literally does because even Peanits the community manager on here stated that it would be difficult for console players to type on controller and we already know that's not true. The only other reason besides sheer laziness is because of "toxicity" which considering even PC has the option to just close the text box, wow! Suddenly people who don't want to see that don't have to!
Obviously people shouldn't be toxic in the first place, but considering you literally have the option to get rid of the chat that you admit you don't like and you refuse to do so, that's not BHVR's fault, that's YOUR fault!
pretty sure if it’s been 3 years on console, it’s something they can’t do,
Why wouldn't they be able to do it? What about playing on console suddenly makes sending a message impossible? Explain. Especially if it's in a postgame lobby or before a SWF even searches for a game it makes no sense why chat WOULDN'T be in the game. There's no timer to worry about!
or don’t care to invest in
Well that's literally the problem that we're complaining about now isn't it? I'm asking the community to support this so that the devs DO care to invest in it. Console players are part of this community and they should have the same tools as the rest of the people in this community do.

Dude you have too much time on your hands, and you seem pretty angry about some, thing that isn’t dbd. Peanits said something that you feel is “Obviously” not true so therefore it can only be “people like me”
I don’t know what to say. Please stop messaging/copying me
0 -
Lmao, I have an opinion and I know how to defend it and that means I have too much time on my hands? I'm sorry your arguments are trash but that's not my problem
0 -
Remember when grown adults could choose whether to engage with chat features on their own without being coddled by companies like vulnerable toddlers? You know, like how we all came to this forum just fine and we're all still alive.

Honestly I want end game chat on console. Just so that I can argue with people.
