Red rank killer mentality

What is it with you guys

you play so sweaty (which is understandable) but when you don’t 4K the game is unbalanced

l just played against a rank 1 Freddy (we were all solo) he got a 3k one got out through the doors. It was a good game everyone said “gg”

then he goes on this rant about the game is unbalanced against killers.

so for red rank killers it’s 4k or bust?

Have fun before anything else, someone gets toxic? Well two can play at that game. But as long as you're playing normally it's a normal fun game for me even if it's a 0k.

I usually only camp tunnel and slug when the game is going too fast for the amount of pressure I can apply with the killer, this means it might be a 8 hook before anyone dies nurse game still at 5 gens or a pig game where someone is tunneled while 2 gens are left to make up for the loss in pressure

The game is always unbalanced for me, but I really don't complain to the survivors on the EGC, everytime I want to try dumb stuff like dumb perk combinations I always get ######### on.

Just play for your fun man, this is what this game taught me over the 2 years that I've played, just play for your fun and no one else's

I usually hover around the Red/Purple Ranks myself and never feel the need to play sweaty honestly. If I can get a 4k, then it's nice I guess, but I'll take whatever I can get. If I see the match going pretty much toward the survivors winning, I'll stop trying to kill them and just farm some points and let them leave. Never really understood the huge need to 4k every match.

Eh, I personally slug a lot. I don't see it as being sweaty, just a way of keeping decent map pressure, but I get a lot of negative comments when I do it.

What are you considering playing sweaty on the killer side? I literally can't think of a single thing that would give me that impression if I was on survivor.

Why in the world do some people still care about pips? They've never been a good indicator of who won the match. You can have two literally identical matches with the exact same events and scores and time and outcome, etc, and the only difference is the ranks of the players in the match, but if you are high rank you lose a pip or don't gain a pip and if you are mid-rank you gain a pip. But obviously who "won" the matches in that case should be the same! They're an extremely inconsistent way to determine the winner of a match.

So pips are strictly for matchmaking purpose, and not even that once they eventually reintroduce the currently disabled new MMR system. I'll never understand the obsession some players have with pips and rank.

I have no idea, i myself want out of the red ranks because 4 man swf is boring AF to go against.

Yeah I doubt it was a fully solo team. I can't even recall the last time I had a full solo game in red rank, let alone any rank.

  • FattiePoobum
    FattiePoobum Member Posts: 293

    You doubt?

oh that’s right, there’s another red rank killer mentality, someone got out or l got beat so it had to be a sweaty seal team 6 swf team

it was solos because 3 of us were pc and the other was ps4

see what l mean this is a classic red rank killer excuse.

  • FattiePoobum
    FattiePoobum Member Posts: 293

yeah statistics also say that every now and again a killer gets beaten by 4 very good solo survivors

    he 3kd

but once again had to be swf the reason the last dude got out.

  • MeatBycicle
    MeatBycicle Member Posts: 756

I'm not saying it was, I just said I doubt it was a full solo game, that is so so so incredibly rare at red ranks. Like so rare I don't think they actually exist.

Probably because it is a cheap, lazy way to play, instead of just becoming good at playing killer. I understand the salt fo sho.

How so? You dont like being slugged so now its cheap and lazy?

I think the killer has PTSD going against SWF. Too poor that they get a wrong impression of the game just because of how well a SWF can perform.

Except the bro I was talking to said, "I slug a lot", this bro is not picking his moment.

I've definitely noticed a lot of people especially around here will immediately declare things 'balanced' if what they actually mean is 'overpowered in my favour.'

Saw someone call Spirit one of the only two balanced killers yesterday.

  • alaenyia
    alaenyia Member Posts: 650

No one likes being slugged and it is cheap and lazy. You down them put them on a hook, pretty easy. That is the game, chase, down, hook, repeat, till dead. So many end game changes have come about with the excuse that it wastes killer's time, well slugging survivors is a waste of their time.

  • thelittlemonsters
    thelittlemonsters Member Posts: 97

Slugging is only a waste of time if you have time to hook. If you don’t it’s a waste of a survivor’s time.

You down someone and walk away. That’s a slug.

You down someone, pick them up, walk to a hook, hook them, then walk away.

    That’s a lot of time.

3k is fine by me, I only ######### about the game being unbalanced when I encounter survivors that know how to abuse the survivor sided mechanics.

  • Bumbus
    Bumbus Member Posts: 600

You down them, you go to a hook, you get bodyblocked, hook gets sabotaged, surv wiggles free.

That is the real game - you downed someone, get rid of everyone around, then hook

That Freddy was just acting childish, yes some things in the game aren't very well balanced but he got a 3k and seems to have done well for himself.

Not all red rank killers are like that, but they do play to win, which i think everyone does i'm sure.

  • Xbob42
    Xbob42 Member Posts: 1,117

Except there are many ways for survivors to stop you from hooking someone. And the better the team is, the less likely you're going to just be able to do clean hooks.

  • ccactus623
    ccactus623 Member Posts: 214

They should make 5 or 6 anti slugging perks. Imagine a perk that lets you get up with out any help. You don't like slugging because it works it wastes time for the slugs , the person the killer is chasing and the person who now needs to pick the slug up. Without slugging 3 people would be on gens instead of 1.

Maybe you were too good and made them work hard for his kills. It feels extremely stressful to handle 4 person alone. The harder the match the more they want a complete wipe, not only a win since it feels the most satisfying for them? I don't know and stopped caring for killer long ago.

I think dbd needs a second objective either for killer or survivor. Another asymmetrical game called evolved had several win conditions for the power role. They could either kill the opposing team or destroy several objectives. I can't remember if the team also had a second objective beside killing the monster.

Right now the survivor have a goal completely beside the killer while the the killer has the survivor themselves as his only objective. (Yeah I know also stopping gens but that is nearly impossible given the killer can't be everywhere at once, the regress speed is not really up to the killer and the regress can be stopped while passing by the gens with a short tap).

What exactly happened in the match? How long did it last? What perks got activated and/or played around? What exactly did the Freddy say?

because this game is designed in a way to be frustrating, even if you win. If you spend thousands of hours actually getting good at the game, your thousands of hours of painstaking grind mean nothing in the face of one dead hard or bt or ds. I've often gotten 3ks and 4ks and felt like I lost because of this. It may be surprising to you, but most killers don't care about how many kills they get, they care about how much fun they have. The game is specifically designed to be as frustrating as possible, especially for killers. It is not fun to go against higher rank survivors, because the game is so heavily skewed towards survivors at high ranks, as the devs balance the game by stats collected by rank 15-10 survivors.

  • RaSavage42
    RaSavage42 Member Posts: 5,549

Some killer players are like that

Me not so much... but survivors threw their insults my way (because they could) so I almost caved in

I play fair and still get messages saying that I'm a "trash tier killer".... "uninstall the game, your trash"

  • sad_killer_main
    sad_killer_main Member Posts: 785

That freddy you faced is not a real main killer in my opinion.

When you have enough hours playing killer you realize that your aim is to get a ruthless/merciless killer, not a 4k.

You can 4k and have a bad performance, which is a nonsense to me.

Besides, if you don't play for performance and you want a 4k, your toxicity at the game will increase considerably.

The only thing that gets me mad sometimes is getting a brutal killer or entity displeased. That means that my performance wasn't good enough.

Funny how you made a thread about sweaty killers thinking the game is unbalanced unless they get a 4k and somehow people came in and created a full mini-thread about slugging even though that was never mentioned in the OP..... -_-

There are four different feelings for me as a red ranked killer. Success, had a kill or two in a tough game or a complete wipe in an evenly matched game (I still count it as a complete wipe if they find hatch). Disappointment, Made poor decisions or wiped a completely incompetent team/ team that gave up. Frustration, DS abuse (playing as trapper makes this funny for locker abusers) and overuse of very strong building tiles. Determination, watching that overly cocky survivor tbag on the other side of a pallet or window and downing them shortly after.

It doesn't need to be a 4k, most of the time I'm having fun unless I'm personally not doing well. DS and building abuse is rare for me as I'm getting better about building pathing and DS is easy to avoid/eat early if I need to.

I don’t think this is a red rank killer thing really, I’ve had plenty of red rank killers say gg even if all four escape and I usually do the same when I’m killer. But people who want to sweat for 4Ks every single game will usually end up at red rank so you’re more likely to see them there.

  • alaenyia
    alaenyia Member Posts: 650

I don't like slugging because it is the lazy man's play, intead of just playing the game. It also stops the slug from getting any points or participating. This may surprise you but survivors came in to the match to play the game too, they are trying to get points too. So many killers on here talking about what they "deserved". You know what survivors deserve at least a chance to play the game, win or lose, and the trifecta of lousy gameplay camp/tunnel/slug prevents that very simple act. And since everyone likes to camp and tunnel there are a host of other anti-dickhead perks that have to be run instead. I would rather have fun perks like plunder but BT it is so my team had a chance. So don't harp on how many perks there are for this or that, you gotta play the odds on what terrible playstyle you will encounter and thus counter vs picking perks for a fun game.

its because 0-1 kill is a loss 2 kills is a tie and 3 kills is a close victory and 4 is an absolute win.

still seems dumb if the last got out through the doors though sounds like it was a close victory

The issue there is survivors that feel the need to taunt. As small of a gesture that shouldn't bother anyone, but still. In the end.. sincerely....LEAVE. amirite?

So if you downed someone next to a gen that's being worked on you would hook the downed person and ignore the gen ? Or you bumb in to someone who's just been unhooked you would risk DS? You down someone next to someone self caring and youll just let them heal? Slugging someone so you can kill the guy with key before someone else ? Plenty of reasons to slug. The fact that tunneling and camping dies off at higher ranks an slugging because more commons tell you it's the correct way to play

  • ZerLukas

Maybe the game wasn't fun for him. And if the door was opened he most likely didn't pip.

And if you were solo you can't guarantee that all 3 others were solo as well. 4 man solos are very rare on purple and red ranks, even rarer that 4 man SWFs.

Also you have to be sweaty to be a red rank killer. It is pretty much impossible to pip with killing less than 3 people and even if you do you might still get a black pip (or even depip but that's unlikely)

Simple really. If you pip you rank up. If you rank up you will face stronger opponents on average.

It really is the only objective indicator of success in the game. What else is there to care about if you play competitively?

Also killers that don't care about pips and don't sweat usually don't get to red ranks. With the exception of maybe top 5% players who can get there easily.

    Once again another reply

had to be swf, no red rank killer could lose to solo’s even though here in Asia apart from Korea we all have to share a server.

because that wouldn’t increase the chances of solos playing together would it

He 3k and got angry about it because he was rank 1 and thought he deserved a 4K because he is rank 1

  • Khar
    Khar Member Posts: 640

Why shouldn't the goal of the killer be to get a 4k? If you play into the red ranks why would you not have the mentality of trying your best to get the most positive outcome?

  • FattiePoobum
    FattiePoobum Member Posts: 293

I have no problem with that, but because you didn’t get a 4K you shouldn’t rant that game is unbalanced

He is rank 1 l am sure he had got many 4K’s to get there, were those games unbalanced?
