Lullaby Discussion

I was just thinking about those new perks and in particular Hex: Undying and the lesser used Hexes. Normally I wouldn’t run Lullaby, but mixed with Undying, it might be more viable.

My question to the survivor side of the community is, does Lullaby ever hinder you? An if so, how many tokens before you feel any pressure. Does only 5 tokens (no sound) get you?

I play as a red rank killer and I’m afraid this might be one of those perks that the average red rank survivor might not even acknowledge because they are just skilled enough to play regardless.

Only time it really hindered me was against an impossible skill check doctor with 5 stacks.

Not really on its own. The only thing it does is make it harder to look around for the killer because you need to focus on skillchecks.

It certainly makes it harder to hit great skill checks, but it doesn't make too much of a difference for me. If you're thinking of using Lullaby, I'd recommend you run it with Gearhead. It's a super underrated perk combo & comes in handy in most matches.

Yes it has hindered my gameplay when its has 5 tokens because I am more attentive to the environment just to know where the killer or other survivors are most of the times. My reaction time is 203ms so its hard for me to hit these no sound skill checks and most of the time I miss them because I panic ( unless its in the 65-100% range of the skill check circle thingy, any no sound skill check before that gets me ).

When I played on Switch, 5 tokens got me every time. But hitting skill checks is harder on Switch and I haven't run into 5 tokens on PS4 yet.

It definitely gets me when I stream. You really start to rely on that sound to tell you to pay attention. Even an early skill check at 3 stacks can be pretty difficult to hit.

When I'm not, way less so. 5 stacks can still mess me up if I'm tired, but I usually don't have much of an issue with it if I'm focusing on the game. I find it can still really mess up a gen if you get chased off of it just as you get a skill check, or if you're up against a skill check Doctor like others have mentioned.

Lullaby is a joke of a perk. It never gets me. In fact, it has a completely different effect: you can sneak up on me slightly easier.

    Slightly.

Dealing with lullaby even at full stacks is usually fine, you just have to pay more attention. It's pretty nasty on doc though, the only killer I run it on (I also like haunted grounds on him - blast right after it gets destroyed and enjoy the panic)

Its been said, but from a killer perspective I get the best use out of it when running doc. You hear gens exploding all over the place especially on smaller indoor maps. Otherwise I don't feel it makes much of a difference.

Well I used not when I played with 60fps but with 20fps is a different history since I have to press very early so I can count.

Lullaby on its own only tends to catche me off guard with the “5 o’clock” skillcheck.

Lullaby w monitor, unnerving presence and reverse skillchecks can become a chore for survivors to hit their SC consistently.

Have to use Doc to get all that going on tho

My problem with lullaby is that even at max tokens its kind of worthless against someone who has spent enough time doing gens and hitting skillchecks.

I think people are downplaying how much Lullaby throws you off because they see it played so rarely. Saying that, I don't think it's a good perk. It's one of those hex perks that needs a cleansed effect.

Lullaby hasn't traditionally caused me too much grief under its own power. I may forget it was in play and be surprised by one abrupt skillcheck, but I can usually play around it with no issue past that point.

However, Huntress Lullaby has been giving me significant grief recently due to its surprise synergy with the actual mediocre performance of DbD Console. Who'd a thunk that faster skillchecks and lower framerates would combine so chaotically?

It's pretty good on Console Doc because of how it affects his "Snap Out of It" skillchecks; between all the visual noise already present from Madness and the heightened speed from Lullaby, these skillchecks can become very difficult to hit in succession. Under our lower fps (usually further decreased by Doc's very presence), these skillchecks will really put survivors through the wringer.

That said, Undying is probably not going to give you much more utility out of Huntress Lullaby beyond possibly saving it from being cleansed in the first 30 seconds of a trial. The loss of stacks you'll incur when it "resets" somewhere else will limit what Lullaby can do. Though you'll always have that bonus failed-skillcheck penalty in your back pocket (meaning you could use some funny builds built around making skillchecks extra spicy as a "psuedo-stall" build).

Well, this has certainly given me much to think about, thanks for the replies.

Off topic, do you have a YouTube channel that I can watch some of your old games?

I would probably go with other Hex perks. I don’t even bother wasting my time looking for lullaby. By the time the 5th token is up there it’s only 1-2 gens left anyway.

    Agree.

With the sound at 4 stacks I am conditioned to know the times, so with a shorter warning it actually messes with me.

With the sound being completely gone at 5 stacks I have no audio to rely on so my reactions are based on sight and do not mess me up.

I don't, no. There's VODs from the past few weeks, but I don't bother saving them.

Personally I find 1 stack of Lullaby actually helps me hit great skillchecks easier. But after 2 stacks it's definitely negatively affecting me and my team.

I almost suspect that Lullaby is weak enough that it shouldn’t be a Hex. Even with 5 tokens the effect isn’t that great against above average survivors, they’ll still normally hit the skill checks if they’re paying attention. I kind of think they could make it not be a Hex at all and just be a perk that collects tokens and can’t be destroyed like Save the Best for Last or BBQ and Chili. But that’s just a guess, I don’t have stats on how often above average survivors miss the checks with 5 tokens.

Any accumulated Tokens on Hex Perks are reset with the transfer.

Perk says ‘reset’ so I guess zero.
