Gonna try Demo
Have had Demo sitting at Level 1 for a while. Might finally give him a shot tonight. Man, am I gonna get rolled. π

I know the MMR wasn't perfect, but the nice thing about it is that it made tackling a new killer a lot more bearable since each killer was ranked differently based on how often you played with them. Now that the game is back to matching games based on your rank, I'm too hesitant to play with a killer I've never play with before. Which is another perfect example of why this game needs a practice mode like it's mobile counterpart has.

I mean even if you get rolled you can at least yeet off of every hill and building whenever you're in need of some fun. I wonder what's the best yeet location in the game for Demodoggo.
I wish thompson house had a drop down spot on the balcony. Would be hilarious to see Demo fly all over the map.

Good luck! I really like his chase music tbh.

@SweetTerror @Yamaoka @SenzuDuck The first match lost me a pip, the next two gained me a pip. I'm in greens, btw. Nothing huge as far as rank.
I don't get it. I don't want to rank up this fast. I feel like I'm gaining ranks faster than I'm actually improving at the game. And this isn't a thing against console player "skill" because I also know their FPS is a mess right now, which makes a huge difference. I don't even care about rank anyway. I just play to earn BP and for the horror-slasher fantasy.

For real.
I was so impressed by all his audio when he released. I still love it the rare times I see him.
The gurgling portals, the stomping, the distant roaring accompanying the screams of a downed survivor, and TR/chase music.

Having a carefree attitude is the best way to play dead by daylight. These days I don't care about ranking or pipping, I'm just out to have fun. I do agree however that it's far too easy to rank up in this game, especially if you are playing survivor. It's one of the reasons why the devs created the MMR because ranks don't necessarily correlate to skill, especially with survivor since there's three other people that can help to carry you and watch your back.

Same tbh, I quite enjoy playing as Demo as well, except I struggle with the portals - they really affect my vision a bit. I also enjoy playing against him - there's very few solidly good Demo mains though, he seems to be pretty hard to master.
2 -
Yeah, I have to admit: I didn't care much for his power playstyle and doubt I will put BP into him at this point. I'm not huge on the "set-up" killers like Trapper, Hag, or Demo.
Maybe one day that will change. But for right now, not for me. Think I'll stick with Doc, Clown, and Freddy, with some Pig, Myers, and Leatherface on the side.
Well, I'm almost 48 years old and only bought DbD for the Horror Slasher Icons that I grew-up on, in truth. It's just something I play a bit casually. If I was looking for a ranked competitive game (and I am not anymore) I would just play Competitive Mode in Overwatch again, which is better designed around serious competitive play. Nowadays, I only do Quick Play and Arcade modes over there anymore, too.
MMR . . . yeah, when it returns and if it works correctly next time around.

it's not that he is hard to master its just that he gives away too much information to the survivors to be effective, especially at high ranks.
you know when he is in chase when he breaks pallets/gens or he teleports. his portals are easy to find and he cannot stealth in any way as his footsteps are too loud which makes his ultra rare red moss worthless along with the fact that his commons addons outclasses all the others
but despite all that he is my main, i must be a masochist.

I like using Demoβs portals as activated radar stations. I put the portals next to the gens and intentionally activate them early. If the survivors leave them up I can detect them on the gen any time I want. And if they cleanse the portal I get a noise alert so I still know where they are plus they just spent 12 seconds destroying a portal that only takes me two seconds to place for a net gen slowdown of 10 seconds. So itβs a win-win. Basically doing this I play Demo a little like Trapper or Hag, I lay out my portals on four or five gens all on the same half of the map and set up for a later game defense.
Works well, aside from me not always being the best in chases with his Shred. π€·ββοΈ

Interesting. Next time I mess around with him, will have to try that.

Rat Liver is an amazing common....AMAZING! It will allow you to keep pace with shred, force more pallet drops, and completely negate certain loops/structures.
Don't sleep on his portals - Placing them near gens/common pathways will provide you with decent info as well as fast travel.
Perkwise, he's pretty flexible...
I switch between a standard BBQ/STBFL/PGTW/CI (or NOED instead of CI)
or a control build using
Ruin/Surge/PGTW/Surveillance...
With his teleportation, the latter build can really, really slow the game down (even if you have a terrible start) and provide an abundance of information when combined with smart portals.

Thanks. Any and all tips and strats are welcome, and being noted.

Iβm trying to learn Demo currently and found Bronxβs guide quite useful: https://youtu.be/crw2LcaGNFY
It goes over the basics and has some good tips that I hadnβt considered, as well as showing examples of how to use his Shred at loops.

Happy to help - You're a pleasant user :)
You can also meme with a Basement Build (using Territorial Imperative), as he can teleport to the basement at will should you choose to set-up that way.
He was initially viewed as pretty weak, but he's solid mid-tier these days, imo.

Almost forgot add-ons!
- Obviously with the activated radar strat the add-on that makes it take longer to cleanse totems is useful, it just gives you even more gen slowdown if they cleanse them plus more time to retaliate
- The other add-on is dealerβs choice. Rat Liver is good if you want a boost in chases, it makes Shred a little less situational at loops. Or if you want a little extra detection you could use the add-on that extends the detection range of portals. Or if you find yourself tunneling frequently then maybe use the add-on that shaves off a bit of time on the tunneling or that Exhausts survivors near a portal so they canβt immediately Sprint away. Really itβs a matter of what you think you would make use of the most I think.

Thanks. I'll definitely check out that guide.
Thanks for the kind words. I try to stay away from the Us vs Them stuff, and don't talk balance this or that because I'm not a top player and am well-aware that my performance would not be a good balance indicator.
Thanks for the add-on advice.

We need more Demogorgon killers! Might be the only killer without a nerf/no counterplay/random hate mob following.
1 -
Well, maybe I can get used to him. I'm not a huge fan of the "set-up" killers like Trapper, Hag, and Demo. I usually play Clown, Doc, Freddy, and some Oni, Pig, Myers, and Leatherface on the side. So, it's a bit of a shift.
Though Demo seems to be less "set-up" than Trapper and Hag.

This is bad. Now whenever I'm playing Demo and open portals, all I keep hearing in my head is: Yes, yes, this is my circle . . . . π

You'd be surprised. I still remember a few calling for him to have a bigger cooldown for using his 'Of the Abyss' to zone windows and pallets. If he were more popular, I wouldn't doubt it would come back up.

I just cannot get him to work for me. Not a weak or strong statement, here, just my play style. I also can never get Trapper or Hag to work for me, no matter how many matches or days in a row that I try. I might just shelve him for now.

No harm in that. I personally just can't get Hillbilly. I know he's pretty good, I just... can't with him. I found Nurse easier than Hillbilly.
0 -
Yeah, Hillbilly is that way for me. Trapper, Hag, Demo, Hillbilly, and Nurse just don't do it for me. Nurse, though, makes me motion sick with the blinks same as Tracer in Overwatch. Can't play Tracer, either.
I mostly play Clown, Doc, and Freddy in a rotation with my secondary guys of: Oni, Myers, Pig, and Leatherface.
I haven't put time into figuring Pyramid Head out yet.

Fair warning! All those sounds you hear as killer when you use your ability, like all the shred noises and the teleport, those aren't client side. They're ######### GLOBAL FOR SOME REASON.

I started playing him again recently. He's a lot of fun, but I have a hard time gauging the Shred distance so I try to only use it when I've forced the survivor into needing to vault infront of me.
He's still LOUD to play as though which is annoying.

Demmie is fun to play just wished he was quieter

I think Otz made a build like this a while ago using Territorial and Make Your Choice which worked out quite well with Demogorgon.
