What does giving kudos actually do?

If you give a player kudos but with no message, will it affect them in any way? Will they receive a notification? And if you do add a message, will they be able to see it?

    I would like to know also. I give kudos very often to both Survivors and Killers while playing as either side, do they know that they got kudos at some point? I think it would be nice to get a little notification that you got kudos at the corner of the screen. Maybe show how many kudos a player's gotten next to their username at the end of a match?
