Why are cosmetics so expensive?
Like these are just pixels, and some (legendary skins) cost more than the entire game
Guys do you know that dlc with chapters and skins exist. Dbd cost 30$. Premium archives tier's 10$.
So "They need to make the money somehow" argument is invalid.

Time, effort, and skill went into making them.
Granted, I feel like the 'Legendary' skins are too expensive for a game such as this, but still.
2 -
Cause people buy them.
Sometimes we buy them thinking it'll have a change on the character, and when it doesn't we don't buy one again, like the minotaur for Oni, not even bull noises added?

Monetization I guess, most just make the survivors look too flashy. Heck I don't understand the trend on using skins on killers while the camera is on first person.
Doesn't help the total cost of the DLCs is really expensive

I understand effort and skill but they get paid for doing these, so time doesn't matter.

People would buy more skins, if they were cheaper.
And purple rarity skins need to have lowered price, if they don't sell good

The shard prices are even more asinine.. 7200 for 1 piece of cosmetic.. when you get 300 shards per level after 50, which is usually 7-8 matches. So 20+ matches for 1k shards. Times 7. 1 cosmetic out of 3.

The shard grind is the worst aspect of this game.
Seriously they need to add 100-150 shards in free archives tier
4 -
Because people are willing to spend that money on them. As long as people are willing the prices will stay up there.

Yeah, they either have decent amount of money, or stole thier mom credit card.

On top of wages:
Licensed characters cost money, as do servers etc.
The more people play, the more licensed material is put in, the more costs need to be covered on top of wages etc.
Sometimes a license can be a one-time thing, but there are companies that will charge full for every little bit. I'd not be surprised if every bit of silent hill content has to be not just negotiated anew, but be payed for by the devs massively...

A lot of the characters can be purchased with shards and licensed chapters are pretty cheap. They gotta make money somehow.

Well, first of all, people are making those Cosmetics, those need to get paid.
Second, BHVR is a company. Companies like to make money.
Third, Cosmetics are entirely optional. I rather have "expensive" Cosmetics than expensive Chapters, a DLC is 7 Euros or even for free, if you buy the Characters with Shards (and it is an original Chapter), so I am totally fine with BHVR making money from Cosmetics.
Also:
Regarding Shard Grind-->This is intentional. Shards give the ability to get stuff for free, which would usually cost money. Sure it will take some time to get this, since BHVR is not getting any money from it.
And well, Legandary Skins-->For what they provide, they are simply overprized. Different voice, secondary weapon for Killer and changed name in the Lobby and I would get the price. But from what Legendary Skins are, they are too expensive.

Okay so exactly what Aven said.

Op answered the question on his own quote, I don't think there more words to waste in this pointless discussion.

I'd definitely buy a bunch if they were cheaper but having to spend $10 for each killer/survivor I play is kind of absurd. If I just stuck to one or two characters the price wouldn't be too outlandish but I have to level a million different characters for their perks which makes it hard to just stick to one.
Also what is up with us not being able to see what mixing and matching different pieces looks like in the store?
1 -
It's because BHVR has to make money somehow.
0 -
because they are 100% optional and people buy them with the prices they currently have. There's no incentive to change it.
0 -
Bc they have to make money, and I would rather have cheap DLC's and expensive cosmetics than the other way around
0 -
If people would stop buying them, they wouldn't make it.
0 -
Guys I didn't say I want devs to stop making cosmetics. I only said that they are too expensive for pixels.

Companies like money, and people are paying these cosmetics enough for them to keep up these prices.
If everyone had your mindset, surely you'd see prices drop, as they'd rather sell at a lower price than sell no cosmetics at all.
"Just pixels" isn't everyone's full thoughts on cosmetics though, some people love to don new cosmetics or roleplay.
There's people who main a certain character just for their cosmetics too, which is especially true for the Survivor role.

So you said that people love to buy overpriced pixels in a game that needs to be "fixed". Nothing new to the conversation
And The prices for skins that DON'T SELL should be lowered. It's the best option for suprisingly everyone.

If i added nothing new, then why ask the question when you already knew the answer?
As long as they make good money on other skins, they'll see no need to lower the price of lesser-selling ones, and can chalk it up to people just not liking those cosmetics.

I meant that people commented the same thing. And I prefer when people add something interesting to conversation, not the same thing over and over.

cos greed of the devil!
They make this DBD game as the One Ring to rule them all, and like we’re all Golem freaking out about our ”Preciousss!”
ppl buy em up, they’ll keep cranking em out an breaking our li’l piggy banks :P

There was nothing else for me to add really, that's my take on why they keep the prices like this.
I mean i could say something else, but i'd either not believe it to be the case, and/or it would just be a lie.

Not mine . I rather spend the money on snacks, clothes or other things :p
But yeh

Yeah if I could close the discussion. I would do it

Tag a mod, they can do that for you.
