Wow, people REALLY don't like iridescent head do they?
I have 7 iridescent heads, so I figured for that "Hit 2 survivors survivors with a charged hit from a hatchet" that I'd have a little fun. Literally the second the first person was downed, him and another person disconnected. I am a rank 10 right now and every survivor was rank 4 (So yeah, matchmaking working as intended I see)
Do people really hate it THAT much? It ain't all that common to go against so I just don't get it.
Comments
-
Yeah it's very hated. I typically will just kill myself on hook if I'm facing it. A lot of people just don't play against it because it is a pretty unfair addon.
26 -
How? Hillbilly and leatherface can practically do the same thing, just not at a distance.
4 -
Because Billy and especially LF have a lot of counterplay and specific things you can do to avoid being downed. Iri head doesn't leave many options. You drop a pallet early, you get hit. You run the loop, you get hit. You pretty much have to force a stun at every pallet or you just die. You have to get a map with an insane amount of LOS blockers to really have consistent counterplay against iri heads. Even if the Huntress is bad, at some point you gotta drop a pallet or vault a window or she just catches up to you and rides your back with the hatchet.
25 -
Yes, people really hate it. Heck; most Huntresses aren't too fond of it.
But no, it's not 'unfair'.
Unfun probably, but not unfair.
Huntress' Lullaby gives you a head start on stealthing away from her; and she's not suddenly any more capable of hitting you with it than she is without. Additionally she can only carry a max of 3 Hatchets at a time before needing to break chase and reload or continue as a 110% M1 Killer.
Honestly, IMO the add-on isn't even her best add-on, let alone the strongest add-on ever. Instasaw Hillbilly or Spirit in capable hands with Dad Glasses can be a lot nastier, and Huntress is better off with Flower Babushka or just Infantry Belt than she is Iridescent Head.

People gotta blame something for their short comings now that nurse is not around
2 -
Huntress is my Side Main.
I'll never use Iri Head and I have about 250 of them.
5 -
You literally just answered your own question. Ranged insta-downs. Not fun to verse, and from my experience, not fun to use either.
8 -
Yeah, itās the most broken thing in the entire game. I donāt condone DCs, but if survivors just run up to you to suicide I donāt blame them one bit. Thereās a reason anyone whoās decent at Huntress doesnāt use them, because they know itās absurdly OP.
gotta love the ājust dodgeā crowd, totally biased nonsense.
18 -
People in a pvp game are scared of challenging themselves. Good old dbd.
4 -
What is there to like? It is extremely overpowered and not fun to go against. Any Killer who uses them wants a fast game, so they shouldn't get mad when survivors choose to die on first hook. Survivors are just giving the the fast game that they want.
The other option is for a very long game where the Survivors choose to hide most of the match because they're too scared to expose themselves.
8 -
Serious Question: Would Iridescent Heads be as bad to face if there Huntress were absolutely limited to a single hatchet? As in the extra hatchet add-ons were explicitly prevented from working with it?
5 -
Huntress is already way overbearing; 1-shot hatchets sends her over the edge. It's like a killer facing a SWF death squad. When the balance is thrown way out of kilter and you know you have zero chance of winning, it is unfun.
7 -
The thing is, they always run Infantry Belt with it. It's not hard to hit one out of 3 hatchets if you're patient enough. Not to mention Huntress currently has beach ball hitboxes and hit registration is also very ridiculous right now(I've gotten hit by a Huntress Hatchet while we were parallel to each other facing different directions. She was at a pallet, I was at the side of a tree that was connected to a rock connected to the pallet, where if you removed those obstacles we would have been shoulder to shoulder). It's no wonder why people hate Iridescent Head, obviously because even bad Huntresses will hit hatchets because Dedicated Servers currently swing the favor in their direction for hit recognition whether they actually hit or didn't.
13 -
No, most people don't like them. It's not particularly fun to play against because there's not much counterplay. Plus the people who use them tend to be really scummy. I've seen an Iri head Huntress with an ebony mori, NoED, the add on that gives her three hatchets instead of 1, and then proceeded to camp and tunnel the entire game (what little there was). (And of course they tunnel and then mori). I just don't find that enjoyable any more than I'd find it enjoyable to get gen rushed.
11 -
Players hate things that cause them to be taken out of the game or end the game earlier than normal . All forms of instant down add-ons, ebony and ivory memento mori and keys all fall in that category.
When you go against a Huntress you expect to be able to take a hit before going down. That knowledge of being able to take a hit and get a speed boost out of it, mean you can make informed decisions about dropping a pallet or not and if you will have the time to reach another loop or attempt to evade the killer. With Iri Head that all fly out the window. It complelty change the way you have to play against the Huntress and you have no way to know she has it until someone take a hatchet to the face. And being that first survivor to discover that the Huntress is using Iridescent Head feels awfull.
Its not the same as going against a killer with a built-in instant down ability. You know they have that and can plan for it ahead of time. Beside there tend to be some kind of price to theses abiliies. Chainsaws are unwieldy for various reason and can't be used too mindlessly. Stalker killers have to spend time; well stalking. Iridescent head reduce your numbers of hatchets but you throw them exactly the same as regular hatchets.
Its the same reason why morii are annoying. The killer gain the ability to take survivors out of the game after 1 hook instead of 3 at no in game cost. They just spend an offering in the lobby.
8 -
Its a ridiculous add on. A hatchet should never ever insta down a healthy survivor.
10 -
I don't like them because it tends to end the match quickly. Same with the ebony mori. I also don't like when all 5 gens are finished before I get a chase in with the killer. I want a full match, one where everyone gets a decent amount of BP and pips. I don't want 5 minute match where I depip and barely get BP, just feels like waste of time.
3 -
I guess you could do small test when you play with iri heads only and count the percentage of players that DC. I'd guess that 25-50% is what you should expect.
0 -
I only see an Iri huntress once in a blue moon so I don't mind it at all, terrifying playing against it, gotta keep on them toes. On pc so the playerbase is a bit bigger, maybe its the only killer that can get kills on console without a bunch fps issues and anxiety? I played both, let me tell you, pc is so much better than console for many reasons.

Hatchets have the hitbox of a basket ball and they can't be stopped by windows or pallets. It's not suprising people don't like that addon.
10 -
I donāt even buy then because they reduce your max carried hatchets by 4. Also, I think only bad Huntress players use them.
having Iri hatchets wont make you improve your huntress because you need more hatchets to throw to get better. So yeah, most iri head Huntress are bad players
6 -
I believe that to be true as well.
I stopped using Exhaustion Addons as well because I want to learn to play around Dead Hard, Lithe and Balanced Landing.
1 -
I don't mind the heads, but I do mind that other survivors DC. GJ, DCers, you ruined the game for everyone else.
4 -
I dont hate Irri heads. There's plenty of stuff like it in the game. But from what i see everybody gets instantly triggered when somebody get instadowned.
0 -
Well, Huntresses who use Iridescent Head dont do it in a way where Skill is required. Go to 1 Meter distance to the Survivor and throw. Even I got a 4K in one of my first Huntress games with Iridescent Head. With other Instadowns you need to practice more, IMO.
Also, I guess Iri Heads would be a little bit more bearable if the Hatchets would not have the size of a Semitruck. But thats just me, being behind a Rock, hit by a Hatchet, because it was somewhat to the left. I once even got hit by a Hatchet which hit the wall inside next to a Window I just vaulted and moved from...
Last game with Iri Heads had two DCs and two first Hook suicides. So yeah, guess the Killer had a lot of fun.
8 -
I can only speak for myself, but Im not using them because of the DCs. tbh I think other addons are better on her.
I think a lot comes down to playstyle why players hate them. Like another post mentioned before, they often tend to play scummy. I wouldnt mind facing more iri heads if the killer doesnt wait in sniping position for the unhooker or slug like no tomorrow.
3 -
Okay on topic, I despise iri head huntress but I wouldn't dc.
Off-topic, rank 10 vs rank 4s is a rare example of matchmaking working as intended.

Yes.

Hopefully it gets reworked to be more like death slinger's in some form where it has conditions that require you to earn the exposed effect.
2 -
survivors are such baby's they can't handle something that's not useless
1 -
You said it yourself, not at a distance. Lots of huntress players that run iri head don't go for long distance shots, they run up behind you and just hold the hatchet up until they get an easy shot and boom, insta down. It's really ######### to play against, I get why people just don't want to deal with it an entire match.
4 -
Not exactly, but good try. Gate keep elsewhere :)
0 -
They hate it, so they won't even make the effort of playing against it.
1 -
I'd be fine with the add on honestly if it couldn't be used with extra hatchets
2 -
Yeah, using iri head is such a challenge :) Those survivors are the ones who don't want to challenge themselves though, keep driving that point home. š¤”
2 -
Killers are such babies, they can't handle getting stomped by SWF. See how easy that was? When you learn to form a real argument/opinion, come back and try again.
7 -
Yeah I'd honestly be fine if they made it so it just negated any other addons tbh, it already makes a lot irrelevant and is broken with extra hatchets.
2 -
In its current state, it is total bs. If they modeled it after Deathslingers insta-down by putting a minimum range requirement on it I'd be fine with it. Then they could even give less hatchet reduction with the addon.
But without a range requirement, she should be hard capped at 1 hatchet.
1 -
That's precisely what it is..oh also..that's against forum rules..so..if anyone goes it won't be me
1 -
or in my case i had kill the obsession challenges so iri heads ebony mori (had a bunch but 1 green) DL WARDEN NOED AND NURSES
0 -
I've never been a fan of Iri Head personally. There's no counter to it at all. . Billy and LF both have ways to avoid their insta-downs using a loop, same as GF and Oni. Even Deathslingers Insta-down Add-On requires you to spear them from a huge distance, but Huntress can just stay on you with no real cooldown on the hatchet and just insert it into you. The recent video OhTofu did where he tested only using 1 hatchet with the Add-On seemed like a fair use of it imo. Hell, even if they just made it like Deathslingers Iri and made the hatchet need a set distance, that would still be fair to me because Huntress would need to time the shot
0 -
It's really not though. It's a bad killers add-on to keep them in low ranks. Same as survivors relying on DS and stuff to survive. Iri head is the sign of an inexperienced huntress. People are fine to complain about it just the same as killers complain about DS. They are both unfun and usually paired with bad players. It isn't hard to run up close behind a Survivor and hit them with a hatchet either, so, I'm not sure how this falls into survivors shortcomings when it's the huntress using iri head that is trying to fix their inexperience with a bad add-on.
3 -
Hey I for one do do you know how scary that is. True fear and test of might. š·š
Edit to say #make killers scary again!
