AFK as Killers
I've gone afk a few times as killer, not many times at all, to try to drop my rank because I am new to the game and was facing very difficult players and it was not fun. Is this okay to do..? I asked someone who has thousands of hours in the game and they told me it is fine to do. I have not purposely went afk again because I want to make sure it is okay to do.

Going afk is fine, just go find someplace to hide and if you have Insidious it's even better, Wraith with his cloak is good too.
Some killers actually make it entertaining by playing hide and seek with the survivors and Wraith is the best one for this. If you have his ultra rare no sound addon pair it with a black ward and take Insidious.
You can also take Bitter Murmur to see where people are at and move accordingly to keep from being found although someone might find you eventually.

ah yeah okay, so going afk like this is not considered botting i suppose?

I've not seen a thing said about afking equaling botting so far and botting as is most commonly understood is using a 3rd party program to perform actions. So you'd load the game and lobby up and once in it'd do basic things like run around or or crouch around in a preprogrammed route etc.

I don't afk personally, but i hear its not being punished in anyway. I recently got back into the game. The issue is you rank up so fast and the perk system is messed up. I ranked up really quick using 3 killers (doctor/hag/spirit) and now i want to level up my other killers but its so painful. So, what i basically do is just try to chase the survivors and give them some fun but not kill anyone.
A fix would be slowing down ranking and removing the tiers from perks. Another solution could be tying perk unlocks to Rank also, not just bloodpoint levels. For example, the 2nd perk slot would unlock at lvl 5 and Rank 16, 3rd perk slot would be lvl 10, Rank 12 and last would be lvl 15, Rank 8.

Pick Freddy if you want to do this. Not only will you depip, but so will survivors because they can't pip against you if you never sleep them. They can't get Evader for being near you, and they can't get Benevolence because you never injure/hook anyone. The only way someone can pip against you is if they do 3 whole gens by themselves, and only 1 player can pip while the other 3 will depip. Which will never happen because they will rush gens to the last one before they realize what's going on. The absolute best they can do is share all 5 gens and the gates to get silver/gold Lightbringer for everyone, which is a safety pip. Best part they can't bully you while you are AFK, since some groups can FL you or if you are dumb enough to stand in certain spots they will get themselves body blocked and then report you for holding the game hostage. Can't do that to Freddy. It's quite diabolical.
If you just want to depip and not go full AFK but want to screw with survivors, put on Unrelenting and just swing at them while they are awake. Freaks them out it's funny. Could also throw on Bamboozle so that you can make your presence known by jumping a window.

Being AFK alone is not bannable. If your dog is whining to go out and you step out and forget to cancel matchmaking, no biggy. We're not going to ban you for that. Accidents happen, emergencies happen, I ain't about to come clean up that mess for you so we'll let it slide.
When it does become a problem is when you do it a lot. Going AFK ruins the game for others. If someone just wants to play the game normally and they keep running into an AFK killer (or even an AFK survivor), that's going to ruin their fun. If someone notices, "Hey, this guy is always AFK when I run into them." and reports you, you would likely get a ban for that. It would start as a temporary ban, but temporary bans eventually escalate into permanent bans.
Short version, it would be ruining the game for people who just want to play normally, so you shouldn't do it excessively.

If you do it against different people every time most survivors would take the free pip/BP/escape and be happy with it. I highly doubt many survivors would be mad at the killer for not playing. At worst you wasted 5 minutes to farm BP. Not a big deal for most people.

Why is it I see PS4 streams where the killer is idle but somehow attacking over and over. As if to let the players take hits and heal if they want. How are they doing that? I doubt actually hitting attack over and over.
On Xbox if you somehow held attack down it wouldn't keep doing it. PC too?

On PC you would still have to press M1 every few seconds. :P What you are experiencing there is someone using a bot/macro (automated actions) to farm. That is really bad and can get you banned if reported (or caught by the system).

What is it about PS4 though? I've never seen anything like that on Xbox. I suppose it would be slightly better to have that than the idle killer because the survivors can max all their stuff out. See it and hear people on PS4 tlaking about those idle swinging killers all the time.

There is one exception though, if you bodyblock a survivor in a corner or in the basement and hold them hostage this way, then this is a bannable offense.
One advice, usually survivors will troll you and refuse to leave, start tbagging in front of you and farm points this way. The killer freddy is immune to this because survivors cant interact with him in the dreamworld

Thats new to me. In the steam forums mods told me that afking would never be bannable unless you hold someone hostage.
Does that mean that in order to derank, it would be best to employ a mix of afking and DCing not to get banned? So far I never DCed because I dont want to waste the survivors offerings, but if you really get banned for extensive AFKing, then maybe I should DC a few games too? Sounds really weird to me, but whatever I guess.....

Cool, thanks for your answer. I've only done it 3 times and I don't plan on doing it again. I suppose I will derank from not getting enough BP or due to everyone escaping. xd

If you wana depip just chase people around. Get a few hooks just don't hook all 4 survivors since there is an emblem bonus for hooking all 4 atleast once.
Run BP perks like Thrill and Distressing. I recently was finishing skilled huntress trophy and was just messing around with crazy hatchets. Managed to get over 20k a lot of games and still de pipped.
Think my highest was 26,000BP and a depip.

It's delaying the end of the game like waiting at the finish line in Mario Kart for the person you lapped to watch you finish.

Keys also ruin the game for others. Ditto with an Erie head huntress with an ebony Mori.
Saying something is bannable because it "ruins the game for others" is a poor justification because there are plenty of actions that aren't bannable and also ruin the game for people.

Went afk as killer for the first time in my 500 hours. I never really DC unless I get dead dawgs or someone else DC's. Its rare for me to do things that annoy other players but today was garbage. I was playing Doctor and just quit. I was getting messed up by some survivors. Me being a really really bad killer just decided I didn't want to play.
