Now that MMR is gone, shouldn't the killer lock be gone too?
It's served its purpose, take it out.

The proposal from their side is to have a hidden matchmaking rating for each killer per player in the future. The change was made in prep of that (a bit early I guess) when they removed the "Rank" based match making formula. I'm not sure if they're removing the emblem system completely but basically it's just a visual thing that they may or may not revamp into something else.
Locking in the killer will be required in the future with how BHVR wants you to have to grind each killer up to red ranks one at a time...
A 3000+ killer wrecking havoc among those poor new survivors each time that R1 killer decides to swap to another killer. Bringing none of his experiences along because all the killers are completely unique and requiring a brand new skill set to be half-decent let alone 'competitive'. Please note this last line is sarcasm and my disapproval at this system... but make the thread saying why this idea is dumb and should not make it past the concept phase.

they’re gonna most likely bring mmr back once they fix the issues it had, so its definitely staying for a long time

that's the point. I think they're still trying to make mmr work out, so they're still gaining data, hence you can't switch killers.

any official sources?

none, just common knowledge. They won't waste the resources put into it and there's no way they just forgot to revert the change back.

I bet they are gathering data right now and it will be live in half a year... fully functional.

I don't know, "Behaviour", "Fix the issues", "Get it to work out" don't seem to go together in the same sentence.

When they introduced the killer lock about 3 weeks before they launched The MMR system, it was already gathering data in the background in preparation for going live, and while they thought it had gained enough data to justify launching it, as we all know, that didn't work out so well. I'm betting they came to the conclusion that the MMR system simply didn't have an adequate amount of time to properly prepare each users accounts before it went live, and now just like before, the MMR system is still running in the background gathering the necessary data it needs for a more proper launch. If that wasn't the case then there would be no need for the Killer lock to still be in effect. Chances are that while they are fixing its algorithms, they are also biding their time while it secretly gathers data on us so that when they release it again it'll be much more accurate at placing us in proper matches.
In other words, the killer lock won't be going away. They never got rid of The MMR system, its still running in the background, and all they are doing to fix it right now is giving it more time to get a feel for our actual skill levels.

kinda, the dbd twitter tweeted out this:
they said they’d keep us posted on solutions, so that makes me believe that they’re gonna add MMR back, they just need to fix it first
also, its highly doubtful that theyd spend a lot of time and money on this project yet throw it away because it failed once
