So Aftercare...

I just noticed, Aftercare is the only aura perk that shows aura of survivors in the killer's grasp. It makes it quite unique.

But I would like to know why only this specific perk? (ik old bond or empathy could show auras but got changed)

You are wrong. Better together also shows auras in killers grasp so aftercare is not unique in that. Funny watching them flail around though.

Bond: Am I a joke to you?

In my opinion this perk should last the entire match, not reset once you are hooked. That downside makes it a weaker version of other perks and honestly for no real reason.

It does? I been using it recently and haven't be able to see the aura of it.

I think that downside is good there ngl. Having unlimited aura reading of everyone is quite broken.

(Even do that's what comms do but still)

I disagree that it's weaker; it's just less consistent in exchange for a much higher ceiling. I think it's actually better than Empathy and Bond in solo queue unless you're running a build that really lends itself to finding nearby and/or injured survivors (e.g. Autodidact, Prove Thyself). Empathy and Bond both only show auras to you, while Aftercare shows auras to other survivors as well. Bond has a serious range limitation and Empathy has a tiny range limitation, while Aftercare works at unlimited range. Bond is consistent, but then again, finding teammates near you is usually pretty easy (especially on outdoor maps); they'll be scaring crows, or moaning, or repairing gens, or getting chased nearby, or just moving in the open. Empathy's effectiveness is hugely dependent on the killer you're playing against (weak against instadowns, strong against M1s), but I do like being able to see survivors in a chase against M1 killers.

Most of the time when I run Aftercare, I'm able to see the auras of all of my teammates and show them my aura for the majority of the late game, which is when coordination is at its most important. Once you unhook someone or get unhooked, you're pretty much going to have at least one person highlighted at all times for the rest of the match. The only exceptions are if you pull yourself off the hook or if the person you were sharing your aura with dies. When there are two or three people left alive, you're going to be seeing them most of the time with Aftercare, and they're also going to be seeing you.

You might think "Oh, well, you'll just get hooked again fast and lose any extra people you had been sharing auras with". In fact, I find that I'm much less likely to get hooked when I have multiple people painted with Aftercare. Let's imagine a situation where you have your whole team highlighted. The second someone tries to hide or starts a chase, you'll know where the killer is. Your teammate in a chase will know where you are and won't run the killer through the gen you're working on unless they're desperate. You effectively have discount Kindred once a teammate gets hooked, so Aftercare can actually make it easier to get a safe unhook on teammates who aren't yet affected by Aftercare.

...you get the idea. If people actually ran Aftercare it would be weaker, since the aura sharing aspect of it isn't helpful if everyone's running it. In reality no one runs it so it's almost always as strong as it possibly can be. If you're not a very altruistic player then it won't be very good, but I consider myself pretty average in terms of altruism and I really love Aftercare.

Yeah, because all of the preparation gets removed when you are hooked, Aftercare cannot really be a solid alternative to Bond.

I made an idea a few months ago:

When hooked you lose the Aura Read to the Survivor who is furthest away. And for the Tiers: Tier 1, lost Aura Read to all 3 Survivors, Tier 2 lost Aura Read to the 2 furthest Survivors, Tier 3 lost Aura Read to the furthest Survivor.

This would mean that the effect is not gone after getting hooked, but since it is the furthest Survivor, you would not gain it instantly back.

Bond does not show the auras of carried survivors.

Only Aftercare, Better Together, and Blood Pact do.

No, it’s a very fair downside. Being able to see the other 3 survivors at all times at any range, plus they’re all able to see you is very powerful, and allows for some significant increase in coordination and assistance

What you seem to forget is you have to work for that aura reading where as the other perks that let you see teammate auras are just given to you.

Of course you should have to work for that volume of powerful information

Or I could just run Empathy and see everyone who is injured with an unlimited range and no work required on my part.

And the moment they’re healed you lose that information.

Aftercare only loses information upon hooking the Aftercare user

Think of Aftercare as the survivor equivalent of Devour Hope.

It has to be worked for in order for it to grow in power, but that power can be removed (or in Aftercare’s case needs to be rebuilt)

Empathy, Bond and Better Together are all crying right now..
