Shout out to Hexy
The tournament he is putting on is very nicely done. Hopefully it brings in some new gamers.

Few survivors were good. Most of them boosted.
Killers with horrible builds.
Noed spirits and hags camping and tunneling every hook.
1 hook spirit fury (without enduring!) Plague got obliterated.
Dirty plays, definitely not high level. Not even close.
Only Otz and Ayrun played well.
7 -
Well,15k are on the line.
It's obvious that everyone would try to play as optimal as possible.
You have to play "dirty" at this level
13 -
The stream was really great, but the spectator bug was really really annoying
Especially Spirit was borderline unwatchable with that super drunk cam lol
13 -
yup, really dissapointed with how some of these competitive players played. Youd expect them to play a little better lol, some of the killers and surv seemed like i could play better than them. especially that plague idk whats happening there

The plague game was one of the funniest games i've ever seen in a tournament
First that super weird killer decision (Why would you EVER play plague in a tournament????)
Then the build (Noed and Spirit Fury, why?)
She managed to fall into hole on grim pantry
And got one kill with noed at the exit gates.
That was pure comedy gold 😂
5 -
But in defense of some players, they were under extreme pressure so naturally you would some more mistakes here and there
7 -
You forgot she also picked the wrong map at the start, and a survivor threw down shack pallet immediately.
It was hilarious
EDIT: I think picking plague was because of a rule that you can only play a killer once before finals. So they may have wanted to use their better killers like spirit or nurse at a later round and use a killer they were competent at, even if it wasn't a good killer for a tournament. Granted I'm just guessing, but that would be my assumption

I feel like a lot of the teams had no right to be there based on how they played, which makes me excited for next week when the weaker teams are weeded out. That being said, amazing production value, ironically 10x better than the one "official" tournament this game has had.
11 -
Any killer with 2 braincells would have done well against the team Otz went against. I was kinda disappointed because I wanted to see him against a serious sweat team.
Like, kindred, lightweight and 2 (TWO) autodidacts, who brings those at a tournament?
About camp/tunnel, they have always been used strategies at tournaments so nothing new there. Sometimes it is the right play, sometimes not.
4 -
Eh just because the other team played badly doesn't imply Otz didn't play well.
4 -
On top of that she wouldn't have gotten that 1 kill if the survivor had run into the gate without the turning radius of a truck. And even then the Kate could have denied the pick up promt by healing the Nea.
And Spirit Fury without Enduring was kinda funny as well. I was like "yeah that survivor's gonna make it to the window easily now... What kinda build is that supposed to be?!"
Overall 99% of tournament players played kinda... Green rank-ish to be honest. Only Otz and Ayrun played well. I gotta agree there witz @xenofon13

I take it most of you guys have never played in front of anyone, let alone 10k people. Maybe keep that in mind before we question the players' skills.
10 -
Who the hell camps and tunnels in tournaments?
0 -
Have you ever played in a tournament setting? That's the best play sometimes.
7 -
15k are on the line.
You just have to play like that in a tournament at times.
5 -
When $15,000 is on the line, you’re going to want to do whatever it takes to get that money.
7 -
Ok thats different. I had no idea such a large sum of money was on the line.
0 -
Of course not. And I didn't say that.
2 -
its a 15 000$ tournament. Ofc they will use top tier killer all running meta.
complaining about tunneling... really? You understand the killer get points by killing best way to do so is getting someone out from the game asap
3 -
to be fair, competitve teams always plays like that, huge prize or not. Its just how comp DBD works in general....
5 -
I didn't catch much of the tournament but I thought it was brilliant. Dowsey did a great job commentating, the rules seemed pretty fair (although I don't know all of them) and the production value was bloody insane.
The only issues I had were the spectate cam for the killer being awful but that's a problem with the game itself and the fact that the hatch was able to be used. Which I feel doesn't make sense in a tournament setting.
I'm excited to see the next part.

From the comments I suppose some of you aren't familiar with dbd tournaments.
Unless there's some weird rule that says BPs are the win condition, then the gameplay is always similar.
Survivors split up and they don't greed anything in a chase, not even god pallets. Killers get that one hook after 3/4 gens and they set the tent next to it.
This is not solo q where good loopers try to be efficient because they can't count on their rando teammates being able to last more than 15 seconds in a chase without wasting half the pallets on the map, or being capable to finish a gen in less than 5 minutes instead of hiding in a corner.
Same for killers. They're just not gonna give up pressuring the hook when gens are flying.
Dbd is a casual party game. This is why tournaments are boring as hell, because the game isn't balanced to be competitive and that's what optimal strategies look like currently.

Lol okay, whatever. 😂

wow what an amazing and constructive argument....

Green rankish you say? I dont know about that...
I think it also looks a bit easy when watching someone play. I had the opportunity to play against some of these teams from yesterday so far and i assure you they are far better then they seem. I have lost count how often i randomly versed Trapper and Legion Mains team (Kanapek) so far and i can not tell the scoring between us, but while i win more or less all of my games as killer, it is hard to get even more then 1-2 kills against them when not playing Nurse or Spirit.

Because you don't understand.
It's 15k yes. It's not a million.
Dο not advertise "the best to the best", the "highest level" and bs like that then.
The level was low and laughable. Scummy/boosted plays and builds. You don't need camp and tunneling NOED Spirits and Hags to win.
Only Otz and Ayrun showed high stantards.

FingerGuns, TricksterShadow and Jordirex all played very well and showed high standards as well. Are you excluding them because they didn't play by your rulebook? I would like to see how you would perform against a tournament team and not using proxy camp/tunnel as a strategy. You should go watch the video where Otz goes against the Legacy team as Freddy and he tunnels the crap out of the Object.
Special mention that Ayrun BMd in a tournament to a team that had a game crash/unintentional DC. That was very childish but I didn't expect anything else from him since he is one of the most toxic members of this community.
1 -
Cmon Otzdarva went against some really lame SWF that got 1 death before 1 gen. He didnt even need to try against them.
We will soon see where their "high standards" will go when they play against an actual good team that have good pressure on gens and know how to cordinate correctly
2 -
This first tournament round felt rather like a preliminary round.
Now that the worser teams are out next week should be much more interesting
1 -
I think the tourney was run really well. Better than anything I've watched in the past.
The production was hot AF. You can tell Hexy's team really put a ton of work into making it a great tourney for everyone.
Dowsey did a great job alone, and I cannot wait until next week when Hexy joins in the shout casting if he feels better.
I think the teams were under an extreme amount of pressure and some may have choked (IE: Plague etc). It's a huge amount of money, and 10k people watching. I can't even imagine the anxiety. People shitting on them is sad.
0 -
It was actually really fun to watch, looking forward to seeing more next week. And Dowsey did a great job casting on his own.
0 -
Otz and Ayrun played against the two lowest level teams in there.
Again, you don't understand how much your level of play drops off from normal games until you've actually been in there. Half of these killers stream and players maybe get one gen done against them with Corrupt as their only slowdown a lot of the time.
Anyone can have good games after a few warm ups leaned back in their chair with nobody watching. Now try it without a warm up because you have to hurry up and wait in these things. Sit in the lobby for 20+ minutes before the biggest game of your life in front of 10k people with a $15k prize and then see if your mouse even moves when you load in.
4 -
I agree the hatch BM was really childish and unnecessary. He already beat them by a lot that they couldn't come back from it, why do that then...
I hope he gets his karma next time in the tournament.

imagine not doing optimal strategies in a competitive tournament for money. you'd have to be a special kind of braindead to not camp/tunnel in tourney
3 -
I mean, unless the survivors are competent. You'll probably lose from tunneling and camping.
0 -
As a facecamping Bubba main, and someone who watches a lot of comp aswell, I think camping is insanely underrated as a strategy, the reason people hate camping+tunneling so much is because they're unfun and optimal strategies, so people think they feel cheap. There's a reason every comp team, some of these teams playing competitively for 2+ years play like this. If you watch any other comp, like DBD League which is on regularly, you will see hard camping/tunneling all the time (this format has perk bans, DS nearly always gets banned)

There are strategic reasons to tunnel and camp. If you’re automatically writing all of those strategies off as low level that’s an area for you to improve.
It’s like saying slugging is dumb. It’s not. You just need to know when to do it.
