I just realized that we haven't had a good map since Clown's
All these new maps we've been getting are all terrible imo which is why I'm kinda glad we didn't get a new map this chapter. Allow me to go down the list.
Most recently we have Midwich. I think almost everyone will agree with me that Midwich sucks. Sure it looks cool, but navigating this map is just a pain and I don't find this map very fun at all.
Next up we have Dead Dawg Saloon. First of all the breakable walls themselves just feel unnecessary and feel like a chore but you have to break them or else the survivors can waste alot of your time in main building. The side opposite of shack and Saloon also has weird loops that often just confuse me. Also I'm just not a fan of how the map looks overall.
Next up we have Sanctum of Wrath and Family Residence. Man we really didn't need another variation of Yamaoka Estate. These maps are a Blendette's wet dream and they just look ugly imo. Not to mention Family Residence is too big.
Next up we have Hawkins. Ugh.
Next up we have Temple of Purgation. The only real complaint I have about this map is that it's a bit too big. Everything else is about it is pretty meh.
Next up we have Ormond. I actually really like how this map looks. I definitely wouldn't mind seeing another variation of this map as long as they don't make it as big or safe pallet infested.
And that brings us to Father Campbell's Chapel. The last map we got that I was actually cool with. It is a bit on the bigger side but it's a good map imo. There's a fair amount of pallets and the main building is pretty cool and well balanced. The aesthetics aren't anything to marvel over but it looks good overall.
There are of course maps before these that also sucked *ahem* Haddonfield *ahem* , but I just wanted to show how long it's been since we got a fun, cool looking, well balanced map. Some may disagree and say that they actually really like x map which is ok cause this is just my opinion and you have yours. I just want to be able to look forward to new maps instead of dreading them. Idk I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on this thougha and see if anyone else feels the same way. Also if anyone is curious my favorite maps are MOST of the maps from the first 4 realms. (Macmillan Estate, Autohaven Wreckers, Coldwin Farm, Crotus Prenn)

It seems you like traditional maps more. I would attribute it to how well you understand the map layout and the places where totem/generators spawn.
Maybe if you give more time to the newer maps you'll understand it's layout better.

It doesn't take ages to understand a map. I looked at ormond the literal second it was revealed and was like "Yeah, this map's gonna be a nightmare".

I really like Dead Dawg Saloon. It's really fun, the main structure is one of my favorites in the game.
Midwich is an unbalanced mess but I really like the breakable wall placement.

That probably does play a big part yes but when it comes to maps like Hawkins and Midwich I'm pretty sure I'll never get used to them enough to enjoy them. Like I said though I'd be cool with Ormond if it had less safe pallets and Temple if it was smaller.

Hard disagree with both parts of this.
Clown's map is terrible.
And plenty of good maps since then.

Dead Dawg Saloon and Midwich are awesome.

Admittedly Dead Dawg itself is pretty well balanced so I could see why people would like it but it's just not for me. I like having the standard T and L and jungle gym loops. Maybe I'd like it more if it had a couple of those in there somewhere.
Midwich though I just can't. Like I said the aesthetic looks cool but navigating the map isn't all that fun imo.

What do you not like about Clown's map?

I don't know...I really like Dead Dawg. As both killer and survivor. It's a pretty balanced map.

Well the Map Designer was fired from several jobs before because of poor Design choices.

Iirc his name was Matt Walker. Look it up im on my phone.

Matt Walker is kind of an inside joke among the community, basically every bad window, infinite, and insane loop set-ups were his fault to one degree or another. They've basically remedied every mistake that he's responsible for. Look up Matt Walker window if you want an example.

Midwich is awful. You go the wrong way once and you lose 3 gens. The appearance is amazing. The layout is terrible and you can get lost easily.
Dead Dawg Saloon is a pretty good map, really. It's not too big, easy to understand. The look is pretty awesome. Only thing I don't like is how survivors can hide in the bushes so well. This goes for a lot of maps (including Midwich)
Yamaoka maps are pretty bad, but they're being re-worked. We'll see how they are tomorrow!
Hawkins is a pretty decently designed map. Figuring out the layout can be difficult, and I think some of the closed doors should always be open instead of tied to gens. Would make getting around a little easier. I always seem to go the wrong way.

I like Dead Dawg and the new temple of purgation.

This is all very subjective because personally I love Yamaoka, hawkins, new Lery’s, Dead Dawg Saloon, and Midwich

Oh im aware. Doesn't mean I can't beat a dead horse.

Crap, I meant to quote the other guy but yeesh man I know right? I'm surprised this game didn't die back in '16.

I absolutely hate both yamaoka estates it's so hard for me to track people on those maps

i like balanced maps, or as close as you can get to balanced in DBD
Maps like Midwich are the complete opposite of that, not to mention horribly unfun
ill eat a DC if i get it as Killer, and i dont blame others who do the same

Temple of Purgation is great post-rework. It's not really that balanced, but it's better than the significant majority of maps, and I think it might knock Father Campbell's Chapel off the top of my favourite maps.

Exept midwich is extremly survivor sided you see the killer coming miles aways so you just need to leave the gen and run until he stop following you

Most maps are incredibly survivor sided. I'm tempted to say all but most are.

Dead Dawg and Hawkins are fine. I enjoy both as killer and survivor. The Mansion and Sanctum are ok, at best. Temple is pure lazy. Ormond is a nightmare and bad design. Midwife is an intriguing concept, but pure murder on colorblind people. The map actually causes me to get a migraine if I play it. I usually have to go hang out in the courtyard and look at the ground or I'm in pain by the end.

Midwich is just awful. See a survivor midway up a hallway? Hope you like doing nothing but holding M1 for nearly half a minute before they get to their first safe loop.
The indoors maps all look pretty amazing but my god are they almost universally bad for dbd gameplay. I'm blown away by how accurate Midwich is to SH1 but jesus does it not work well in gameplay.
