The struggle with survivor perks
I basically feel like I run the same load out every game.
Decisive Strike: Because tunneling ruins this games fun for me.
Iron Will: Because its difficult to escape chases or avoid getting into one when your moaning so loud that the killer can very easily find you.
Unbreakable: Because without it you risk the killer winning off a slugging game which is also no fun.
Sprint Burst: So I can make it safely to a jungle gym.
Anyone have a similar struggle as survivor. I am a killer main but as survivor I feel to attached to crutch perks because of certain killers playstyles. 😒

I don't think that the one game where I actually get tunelled justifies running DS, I don't think it's fair that there is a perk that exists entirely to punish the killer for snowballing, and I don't think that anything could ever justify running both of them together outside of a prize pool because of how easy it is to abuse, even subconsciously.

this is only the case with me and borrowed time it's permanently in my loadout at this point

That's me with iron will. Just can't do it.

Yeah there are so many times a survivor gets slugged and rehooked right after getting unhooked so that is definitely an important one too. I try to make sure at least one person in my SWF is running it for that reason. 😅

I think Unbreakable is fine in its current state even when it's paired with DS because it counters slugging and without it you'd have a slugging meta.
As for Decisive Strike it can be very unfair and I wouldn't mind a nerf for it honestly like mettle of man. 😅
Also even if you don't use DS a lot of killers assume you have DS so they don't tunnel. I'd guarntee you'd be tunneled a whole lot more if DS was removed from the game. 😬

I usually play solo, I always use DS because of not trusting randoms bringing an obsession perk, but I run dumb perks trying to make them work.
Example like camaraderie, poised etc.
But my build always changes at least every two matches.
Try this, play for fun and not to win, this has helped me not care when I play survivor, I just use pebble to see if killers fall for it, and most of the time it does.

I'm just collecting stats on my games (from both sides) and the double hooking is actually super rare. Most of the times it is slugging and they are healed up again

Sprint Burst? Become an expert in dead hard and you'll feel much better about not having Iron Will or Unbreakable.

I doubt there would be a slugging meta. Slugging is not very effective if you only find one surv at a time. So I tend to slug multiple people only when the survs are swarming a place and playing dumb. And that are usually the occasions where UB comes into play and has a significant impact. So without UB, the survs likely couldn't and wouldn't play so boldly as they are doing now, but playing it a little more safe. That on it's own would make it harder to slug multiple people. Sure with the right killer or perks you can still pull that off, but I would argue that UB does not do much for you anyway if the killer is really dedicated to slugging. Also, when UB is used it is usually accompanied by DS, I rarely see UB on its own. Thats bc UB on it's own is not so great, bc killers do not really slug if they can help it. They only do it bc of DS. All in all, UB is far more used as a fail-safe for DS, instead of as a slugging insurance.
About tunneling when DS got removed, that I can see, yeah. It's eminent that killers tend to use more tunneling if there's no obsession. What if survivor obsession perks (apart from OOO) no longer cause an obsession to be selected at the beginning, but when they are used first time? DS only "creates" an obsession when killer gets stunned, MoM only creates it when the endurance effect is used. This way, DS could still be in play even when there's no obsession in the HUD. I would prefer this to some kind of basekit stun that was proposed by others.
Such a change would give DS a buff, since the killer would have to expect DS in every game, so something would have to be adjusted to limit DS "abuse" plays, e.g. DS timer canceled when another player gets unhooked (so only one DS can be active at any time).

It varies by rank I think. At higher ranks people bring BT and DS so killers don't do it but at the more beginner ranks not so much. 😂😬

Ok, but have you ever got addicted to Spine Chill? That perk is like a drug you can't get off on, and I still use it. Sure, I got all the Survivor adepts Solo Q'ing but most of those were either lucky, or I brought a key with blood amber.

I actually don't like spine chill apart from with a few stealth killers as it causes me to leave the gen to early in panic mode. That being said if I didn't run sprint burst I'd probably run it so I have enough time to actually get away. 😂😅

That's the reason why they're the meta perks, a lot of survivor perks really don't help you survive a trial, and are mostly just for the memes. Now sure they might help other survivors or give you access to some cool/useful things, but they don't really help you survive, and in a survival horror game, the perks that will help you survive the trial will always reign king.
By no means do I want to see the meta perks nerfed, but it'd be great if survivors would get some cool new perks, I'm not exactly fond of running the same old all the time too, but I want to survive the trial. Killers really have access to some good perks, survivors not so much.

I have a great time mixing my loadouts up and experimenting.
Currently running Leader, Bond, Flip Flop, and Tenacity, and I’m having a great time.

Why not randomise the perks? Every game I play as either Survivor or Killer I use DBD Randomizer for all my perks, add-ons and offerings, which allows me to play in different ways each round and learn how best I can utilise perks.
I've overcome rank ones on both sides with perks nothing like the meta, so it can be done. It's just choosing where the strengths are.

Gotta admit, I'm addicted to the really dumb, off meta perks.
Namely Flip-Flop. God, I love Flip-Flop. It's a very dumb perk. But there's nothing like getting slugged, and then crawling away, and then struggling out of the Killer's grasp because the hook is too far away. It honestly brings me life. Does it happen very often? Not at all. Is it really fun? Absolutely.
Usually my build is something along the lines of Ace in the Hole, Plunderer's Instinct (these two are my guilty pleasure), Flip-Flop, and some random perk. Sometimes Bond. Sometimes DS, sometimes Slippery Meat- depends on the day.
I really love Fixated as well though. Really fun to run- pop that on with Quick and Quiet, Head On, and DS, and it ends up being a really fun meme build.

I wouldn't say that necessarily but with killer you have more control over how a match goes so meta perks aren't as important.

I usually try and create builds that have synergy with each other, like DH, WGLF. Aftercare, and I want to say MoM but that perk is garbage, I never get any real use out of it in trials. Another build I tried was No Mither, Resilience, DH and Prove Thyself, you'll be a terror to gens with that one. Though I have to say, DH isn't that great, half the time I use it, it won't proc, other times it doesn't help me at all. Weird perk to use.

Maybe try some meme-type builds? One build I came up with is the "I Think I'm Paranoid" build with Dark Sense, Kindred, Premonition and Spine Chill.

But that's BECAUSE of DS. Killers respect it at this point. I guarantee that you would see different results if DS didn't exist :/
