Why is dbd so competitive?
I like dbd but it feels like ranked every game where you sweat or lose. I feel this way more for killer but survivor can be annoying to play too. Can dbd please be fixed/changed/or balanced because its hard to play more than 3 matches a day. Rank 1 killer/survivor btw
Can we get a casual mode where there is no medals or rank, cause if you get stomped at least you don't have the game telling you that you did bad.

Dead by Daylight has 3 stages.
Stage One: You're new and you just want to try your best. See the sights. Getting better as you go along.
Stage Two: You HAVE to be rank 1. You know ALL the maps. You HAVE to run the meta. You're going to dominate in whatever role you're playing and if they use NOED or Decisive or ANYTHING YOU DON'T LIKE THEY'RE TRASH.
Stage Three: Hey I got 20k bloodpoints that match. Wonder if this perk combo will amuse me for a few hours?

It is a Player vs Players game. Of course it will be competitive. No one likes to lose(die on hook/get no kills). Sadly i find that when i play survivor it's extremely relaxed and such and i do absolutely fine. As killer though, against some groups i have to either sweat hard or get gen rushed and tbagged/looped the entire match.

I agree to an extent, but I find survivor boring most of the time and killer stressful or frustrating most of the time

Eh i just play it to have some fun as killer i just trynna make matches as fun as possible for both sides

DBD is competitive because people don't like losing. The end.
Also, every time I play chill I get t-bagged, which makes me feel less chill.

That seems to be the natural problem for asymmetrical games in general.
The single "power role" player gets stressed trying to keep the herd in control while the "number role" player either have problems being in focus of the opponent and if not get bored.
I don't even no many big asymmetrical title being played right now. Just a few near dead indie games and all the other titles that died over time with evolved being one of the most prominent (But that was also a problem with an ea-like greedy developer/publisher) or Friday 13th (but I heard this died more because of license problems).

Honestly? Because a lot of competitive people are arrogant and stupid.
I'm competitive. I know I'm competitive. I've been like that my whole life, always having to prove I'm good at shite. But DBD does NOT lend itself well to that mentality. The game's core mechanics are extremely unbalanced even without taking into account map design. No matter what, smart survivor teams can always finish gens and open doors. It's just how the game has to be designed: because the goals are different, it has to screw over the minority of players.
But people just don't care. The see "PvP" and think "Competitive eSport." They don't see that they should be playing an actual, competitive game instead of DBD.

Killer is hard because it makes you feel good for winning survivor, which is a lot easier. I dont think this is the worst thing in the world, there are a lot of non gamers who play DBD because it doesn't require much skill. But they need to somehow make killer easier without making survivor much harder so that there isnt such a toxic divide in the community. If killer wasn't so hard there would be more people playing it and less toxic survivors = a healthy game. I don't know if its even possible at this point though

It's not competitive. It feels competitive because it is stressful, and it only feels stressful because BHVR, in an attempt to make it feel competitive, decided that everybody should have to compete with each other, even if you're on the same team. It's not survivors v killer; it's survivors v survivors v killer. The ranking system is honestly stupid. It literally has no place in this game. It doesn't help with their matchmaking, no matter how hard they try, and all it does is force survivors to compete with other survivors, because apparently getting out alive isn't enough. You have to have near perfect game in order to advance a rank. With survivors able to d/c mid-match without it simply ending the entire match for everyone, and with killers that literally hook camp, or even with just a bunch of random survivors who have literally no clue what they're doing, you wind up losing rank. Not to mention, rank doesn't get you anything, other than guaranteed matches against rank 20's of the opposite team (if you're rank 1).

all PvP games are competitive at their core

Stage 4: you can't play the game anymore because you're on Win7. At least Civ 5 still works fine.

Stage 5: oh I safety pipped. That's great.

DBD isn't competitive. The players are. The players are the problem, not the game.
DBD itself is a glorified party game.
