Why don't Survivors run exhaustion perks?

I've seen lots of Survivors across all ranks (yes, even at Rank 1) who don't run exhaustion perks. I just don't get it. Exhaustion perks are probably the best perks to help extend chases and there's no real downside to running one of them.

What's the mentality behind not using exhaustion? I'm generally curious

Idk, sometikes there is just a perk I want to run rather than any exaustion perk. Don't get me wrong, they are good. The only one I wouldn't find good us Dead hard. Ah yes, press x(e) to die instantly 😔

I just feel better with an info build or medic build. However I almost always run dead hard with No Mither.

I play killer like 95% of the time nowadays, but back when I kind had a 70/30 split between killers and survivors I really liked Lithe. Lithe let me learn how to loop and if I messed up and got greedy on pallet, I could use Lithe to get away and find another pallet, or to simply lose the killer. When I play killer now and see no exhaustion i'm honestly surprised, being a rank 1/2 now and not seeing them on similar red ranks, just really shocking because they're such good perks

I like my medic build, I can move around the map without being spotted by the killer most of the time. Perform safe unhooks, fast heals, determine the killers location via injured survivors and the kindred perk. If i get found and chased i use the environment and by playing carefully, it's usually late game by the time I'm on my first hook.

I leave the match with a decent amount of points. Medic builds can be a great boost to a team, and more importantly I have fun with the build. No need for exhaustion perks.

The only exhaustion perk I run consistently is Adrenaline.

I used to run exhaustion perks, such as Sprint Burst / Lithe, until I got Dead Hard.

Used to rely on those to get me out of sticky situations.

I don't run them anymore because it's more rewarding when I can loop a killer without relying on exhaustion perks.

Not only that, but killer add-ons that give exhaustion are rendered useless.

I used to use them, mainly Lithe or Dead Hard but I felt like I was relying on them too much to escape a chase. I like using perks that can help others out to escape, so stuff like We'll Make It, Botany and my personal favourite Blood Pact which has helped so many times. I feel people rely far too heavily on exhaustion perks and most times, at least from my experience, they down within seconds of using it anyway.

the last time I've used an exhaustion perk was in 2016. It's not that I think they aren't good. It's just that there are other perks I like better, especially since I've started to play solo only (kindred, small game, bond etc.).

"Wahaaaaa all survivors run the same second chance perks"

"Wahaaaaa why survivors don't run second chance perks"

    Make up your mind already.

For me, it's just a personal preference because I find Exhaustion perks boring & I would rather farm Bloodpoints. Same reason I also don't run Decisive Strike or Unbreakable. After you've put in a lot of time in DBD & already achieved the top ranks, it stopped being about "winning" (escaping, really) or ranking up for me. Now it's just about the grind. Also, if it is relevant, I play on PC.

The spot where I would probably put an Exhaustion perk, I run We're Gonna Live Forever instead. Since I run WGLF, I want those stacks, so I always run Borrowed Time with it. So that's half of my perk slots. When I am doing a quest in the Tome & need to put something else specific on for the quest, WGLF is usually the perk that I swap out until I complete the challenge.

Then I like to have a healing perk, even if I bring a medkit. Lately, I have been enjoying Inner Strength. I need to break bones anyway, especially now after Blight has come out & I don't have to worry about getting Sloppy Butchered like if I were running Self-Care. Plus Iron Maiden isn't super popular. Also I prefer at the start of a game to find a Totem instead of hopping straight on a motor because the Killer is always going to do a lap to the Generators to find his first Survivor to chase. I don't like being the mouse in the cat & mouse that is Dead by Daylight at the start of the game. I like to know who the Killer is first & what not.

Which that last sentence in that paragraph & also because I play solo queue, is the reason why my last perk is usually Kindred. Because it can give me information & it can help my random queue teammates.

I'm not a big fan of Dead Hard & honestly, most of the time when I have used it in the past, I forget that I have it on so I don't remember to use it. Sprint Burst is nuts, of course, but I don't like the minigame that is micromanaging my Exhaustion cooldown. Plus there's the bonus effect of not having to worry about Killer exhausted cooldown perks/add-ons/items if I don't run any to be turned off.

If I had a fifth perk slot available to run as Survivor, I still don't think I would run an Exhaustion perk there. I would run probably We'll Make It to go along with my pretty Altruistic Bloodpoint farming build.

And while we're talking about perks. There's 83 Survivor perks & 75 Killer perks according to the official Dead by Daylight Wiki. Can we remove perk tiers already? The game should not feel this grindy.

Same reason why some players don’t play Tank or Melee classes in other games.

Some survivors aren’t runners so they opt for other efficient perks like Botany where they can heal faster than someone who probably can run The killer better than they could.

I mostly create my builds around one purpose. Healing others, Saving, Looping, Doing gens, and so on. Sometimes exhaustion perks are just not fitting.

It's less about being "optimal" and trying to quell boredom by trying different build ideas - ones that might require the synergy of all 4 perk slots.

I mean you can't run an exhaustion perk when you're running Visionary, Detective's Hunch, Deja Vu to find those pesky hidden generators and a handful helping of Repressed Alliance to keep that dirty bla... generator down.

If the whole team wasn't already running exhaustion perks then survivors would feel the pressure of there being no chase extension perks in the match. So survivors have the freedom to run what's we they want and relying on others bring that particular pressure relief. Same with ds in red ranks.

Killers run exhaustion addons anyways, so in many cases, exhaustion perks are useless.

I don't run one because I don't need one. I run niche perks to have fun. The only exhaustion perk I ever use is Head On, and even then it's not often.

Why cause we need ds for tunelers bt for campers inner strength against those antiheal builds and repressed allience against pop so the gen doesnt get regressed

Because i play a stealth character and need my perks. I dont like to extend the chase, i like to juke the killer and get away, while he spends time searching for me while i either heal up or do a gen/totem or whatever. Not everyone thinks the game does or should resolve around chases.

I run headon sometimes for the meme, if i play in an swf which is rarely the case. If i get a daily to be chased, i prefer lithe over the others, because you decide when it triggers and when not.

Because I realized that I started treating dead hard as an extra health state, even though a smart killer would just wait out the dead hard. I had to stop using it to make me stop relying on it for stupid plays (even if they usually worked)

I don't use teachable perks on any survivor except the one who owns it. Keeps survivors from being skins and forces me to learn different playstyles. My two favorite survivors are Bill and Cheryl, and neither of them own an exhaustion perk, so therefore I don't "get" to use one. Still have plenty of fun without them, or DS for that matter...

I don't use exhaustion perk because unless I ######### up pretty hard I can do a 1min+ chase easily. This allow me to run other perk that can help my team better. Anyway I've unlock 0 exhaustion perk and I'm rank 1.

My regular build is all about information. So normally I use Spine Chill, Bond, Open Handed and if I'm on solo que I may just use Kindred too.

This build helped me avoid chases many times or sandbagging (I'd rather take a hit and turn back than sandbagging a teammate on an objective). With Kindred I can decide about unhooking safely when I'm solo or even when to run or hide if he killer comes straight my way.

If I'm playing with one or more friends I replace Kindred with Balanced Landing and to focus on more risky objectives in which I can take advantage of the perk to escape.

I think having the right info is more valuable than the exhaustion perk.
