Dream snares or dream pallets?

Which one of these is the best for Freddy?

I play him and I've got the most use out of Dream Pallets (especially against bad survivors).

I prefer pallets because they're fun. Snares are more effektive tho.

In terms of strength, pallets are gimmicky as good survivors will know which pallets are real/fake. Snares can't really be countered though, so they can be used extremely effectively to shut down powerful tiles such as the 'Fun Bus' and Cow Tree.

  • How do you best use them? I'm not a high rank killer so I don't know how to use dream snares. I think they're best used at vaults or narrow spaces?

I'd say pallets are pretty good. Pools of blood are pretty obvious and easily avoided but they can be handy to slow down a loop, but if a survivor has no idea that pallet was already destroyed, as I've done many times, their safety is gone and it's a free hit.

You can end loops with them, so they won't make it to the pallet if you place them right where they usually run a circle, but that does not work with freddy, so they have to predrop the pallet or get hit.

I personally always use dream pallets. The fake-out when they try uberlooping then that blood splash. In my experience, you can actually sense their mind go "damnit"

Could you tell me what build you run on Freddy?

And snares are usually good at corners around loops, not at the pallet itself. If you place it in front of a window, you won't get full use of it, try to place it a bit behind where you know the survivor will be coming from.

    Snare.

Both are not too useful but pallet one need 1 perk slot so snare one is better.

Snares are better but pallets are more fun imo and hilarious to watch someone camp one to slam on you then it’s fake and they just die lol

Snares are better because there is no way to counter it if you're the one getting chased. The addons dont even give you enough pallets tokens to fill up most map, so until they can be stacked together for 20+ pallets, snares are objectively better.

The strongest placements are normally on the longest side of a loop, farthest side from a pallet. Which will let you either catch up or make them drop a pallet early.

For windows, its best to set them up on the path to the window rather than the window itself to force a medium vault, because as the case with clown and doctor. vacuum, latency and distance will mean a survivor will always fast vault despite what either of you see on your end. The best thing do to is to slow them down before they can vacuum. So put them on hallways or doors or on the outside of the window so theyre easier to catch up to.

    High rank: snare

Low rank: pallet (ppl tend to camping pallet or just run around it)

    Surprise factor: pallet

    Open maps: snare

Unconditional set up (do not need specific place or broken pallet): snare

Multiple traps in chase, same area: snare

    Control loop route: snare

    ---

    Now, it's your choice.

If you run pallets on autohaven it can be a nightmare for a survivor

Use snares and fyi the pallets currently have the old animation you can tell their fake.

  • I currently don't have pop goes the weasel and thanatophobia so my build now is BBQ/NOED/Sloppy butcher/Whispers

I want to change it to BBQ/Pop goes the weasel/Sloppy butcher/thanatophobia if I have pop teachable.

Also thanks for all the helpful answers guys! Glad to see snares are good because at first I thought they were inferior!

I used to use nothing but pallets and got mixed results. After I ran out of pallet add-ons and had to use snares, I found them to be a lot more useful. If I put a snare down somewhere on the map, I get instant location info if a survivor steps on one.

pallets are pretty bad vs SWF. i can attest to this.

me: both pallets in that one room are fake.

my friends: ok *drops both pallets*

Pallets are certainly fun, especially at low ranks. You'll get no arguments from me if you want to use them.

Snares are more reliable though, and more powerful. You can use them at every loop. They're not that hard to use, either. I can't explain how while typing on my phone - look up a good killer streamer like OhTofu, Otzdarva, or Tru3Talent and check out some of their Freddy games on youtube.

Ignore the people who say snares are "zzzzzzzzzzz". They're butthurt because they can't mindlessly loop you like they do other M1 killers and they refuse to adapt and learn. You'll be wrecking them in no time at all.

I think pallets are more fun so I use them. Sure they don't trigger as often as snares but when they do trigger it's a guaranteed instant hit and you know the survivor is probably shouting something at their screen.😄 That being said I think snares are more flexible and probably more effective overall.

Am I crazy or could this be a hint at a future Dream Pallet buff that makes them stronger than Snares? Pallets are fun as hell to use.

Snares for the early game, pallets for the late game.

As Freddy is currently implemented, my pick is for Pallets.

As a hardcore Freddy main I respectfully disagree and believe snares to be better in almost every single circumstance.

Snares allow you to potentially get hits in loops or alternatively force a premature end to the loop (whether from forcing the pallet drop or driving the survivor away from the loop).

Pallets are good for a trollish "free" hit, but they really require Freddy to remove pre-existing pallets so that he can replace them. Might dictate filling your build with anti-pallet perks (Brutal Strength, Spirit Fury, and the like).

Basically, Snares are stronger in function because they are always a useful ability and can trap things besides loops (doorways, exit gates, totems, etc). But Dream Pallets are pretty fun though.

    Pallets are more fun.

Every killer should have fake pallets. It'd give killers a new power, which they could really use. (Breakable Walls wasn't really the answer)

I'm not sure there's anything funnier in DBD than a survivor throwing a fake pallet, and then later throwing that same fake pallet again.

Snares 1000%. It depends on your playstyle/opponent level though. You really won't see much of a performance difference until red ranks, and even then you don't really need to optimize for most opponents.

The advantage to using snares is that survivors have to run into them if they are place well. The risk of dream pallets is that inuitive survivors can chain jungle gym tiles or other guaranteed pallet spawns together in the early game even if they're asleep and Freddy will be helpless. Dream pallet locations can also be called out on comms ("shack pallet is fake").
