Devs, why do you want to nerf pyramid head?

if punishment of the damned is too easy to dodge then the killer is doing something wrong

I've been posting this a lot recently but the community seems fine with PH overall, it really seems to be a vocal minority. To be fair however, they just said he's under "review". However knowing these devs, I'd be surprised if they didn't nerf him even though he's fine.

You can't be careless with your power, huntress has a loud HARGH sound when getting a hatchet out, and a loud SHING sound when she's fully charged the shot, so you get 2 sound cues that she is about to throw a hatchet, does that make her hatchet too easy to dodge? Yes and no, Yes if you throw your hatchet instantly without being patient, and no if you read the survivor's pattern of juking and land your shot. same thing with ph, you can't just blindly use your attack expecting it to land, you have to zone them, force them to be in a tight spot, or even bait your power.

Huntress doesn't have a big red line showing where the hatchet is going and a delay before it even starts on top of all that. You also have to remember any 1v1 encounter needs to be weighed on the killers side since there's 4 survivors. Just things like Spirit go too far. He's pretty fair with his power. If anything I hope they buff the actual power and add a slightly higher delay after canceling it.

Technically you can counter it as you would any other M1 with Dead Hard. If we are being technical.

Fact is, survivors that are good against him know they need to zone themselves out, fake pallet drops, window vaults, because unless you are locked mid animation his power does not work unless you stood still. (Meaning you didn’t move left or right.)

I’ve had survivors that instead of dropping the pallet they kept going, I used my power and they had enough time to pallet stun me afterwards. It’s a mind game because PH players have to also guess whether the survivor will continue looping or not.

The other time I see PH players out their sword down to cancel M2 is in a dead zone, which in that case the only reason they are doing it is because they want you to step in their Rites of Judgement. Because with bloodlust they can catch up to you no matter what.

You aren’t meant to loop him like an M1 killer, but more like a ranged killer like Huntress for example. Would you throw down a pallet at a Huntress aiming her hatchet? If you are a smart player you won’t, because it would mean a guaranteed hit for her.

If they were to give PH a long cool down, then they would have to completely reduce the cool down after he misses, because his power (which IMO is not meant to be spammed) would feel atrocious at that point. You would have no opportunity to use it because of how limited it would feel.

All they've said is Pyramid Head was the first killer using their formal process to evaluate and rebalance a new killer after release and that we'd probably see changes from that soon. They didn't say they were making him weaker or stronger, just that whatever tweaks they're making are coming. For instance it could be that they're making his ranged attack have a slightly longer delay to give vaults a little more mindgame, or it could be that they're improving Cages and Torment if they find they're too weak and underused (I think Cages are fine but look at how many people post that they don't use Cages very often because "it gives survivors a free rescue" to see there existing a possible argument for buffing them.) Or maybe they're tweaking his movement speed while laying trails? Who knows?

Point being it's a bit premature to start complaining about "nerfs" when we have no idea what if anything they're changing let alone what kind of results those changes might have.

Wym, he doesn't cancel any perks and the counter play is literally run in a straight line, juke, or stun him. I am confusion.

FWIW it is not possible to dodge unless you anticipate exactly when he's going to attack and dodge preemptively. You cannot react to his attack.

Where is this narrative coming from? They've consistently nerfed top killers and buffed trash killers, which is exactly what they should be doing. None of the killers they've nerfed have been bad after the nerfs. The last few I can remember were Spirit, Nurse, and Billy, and they're all still top killers.

The travel time, from the same Wiki page, is a whopping .033 seconds. That means the entire attack takes 300ms.

Let's assume ping of 55ms for both the killer and survivor, which is quite a bit better than I ever get. Now per Wikipedia (link) the average reaction time for a college-age individual to a simple visual stimulus is 190ms. That's not very representative of DBD since there are a lot of things fighting for your attention in addition to the POTD trail, but let's assume we're a god and 190ms is our in-game reaction time. Just from ping and reaction time, we're already at 300ms. That means that by the time you can even start to move out of the way you're already taking a hit, even with decent ping and good reaction time.

You should read the whole thing, its that long per piece of the attack, it adds up. You really don't know about the power lol. Just playing as or against him you can see the attack moving along and its definitely not done in .3 seconds.
