Unfriendly reminder about licensed characters and cosmetics' costs
Because I get the feeling very few people understand how there is a direct correlation between having more licensed character in the game and having few not-linked not-cells cosmetics:
In order to be able to put a licensed character into a game, the company needs to acquire a license (duh!), a permission to use the character. This costs money and is often tied to restrictions etc.
(sometimes it can happen a rights-holder gives the license out for free, but rarely)
Money that the company has to pay and license-agreements they have to uphold. And especially companies like Konami (silent hill) are notorious for being POS about their property.
So, the linked cosmetics, the low number of cosmetics as a whole etc? Yeah, you can thank people who demanded to have silent hill etc in the game, the devs are paying for your hubris, literally.
we will hardly see big cosmetics sets or more unlinked stuff, because they do need to make the money back, maybe even still pay things off.

And yet there’s rumors of a Silent Hill reboot. It’s also an opportunity for some nice advertisement for Konami, Netflix, Halloween, etc.

naw. also, that there's a reboot has nothing to do with what the dbd devs have to pay. they didn't buy the entire brand off konami, they bought the permission to use the thing.

no. this is how copyright and licensing works.
SH is the much bigger name to begin with, so, you can gladly tell yourself that it was dbd what gave it a boost, but... that doesn't change the facts about how this stuff works.

You know what's crazy? Heather's getting another legendary skin, in the form of Cybil Bennett next week, but what's really crazy?
You can earn it with shards.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that'll be the first licensed content that can also be earned with shards instead of just Auric Cells! That's huge!

uhm. I didn’t know there where ‚demands‘ for Silent Hill?
and even then, what is the problem here? Pretty much everyone knows that licensed content costs money, and they come with restrictions. But they also draw in new players. I bet many people are here because they are fans of some of the licenses such as Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street and now even Silent Hill.
without licensed content this game wouldn’t be as big as it is now.

I'm cool with that. I'll take linked-cosmetic sets if it means we get stuff like Silent Hill.
2 -
I seriously doubt it can be bought with shards. Where did you get this info from?
1 -
A Datamine actually. Of course, the info can and likely will be changed by her release, but I don't remember Lisa Garland's icon ever showing a shard count.

I think linked outfits are more of a way to give unique outfits that otherwise couldn't be there because pants height, hoods, etc. I mean honestly the feng min bunny hoodies could've been way better if they were linked with the head/torso but that's just my opinion.

Yea no it's not for shards that's just placeholder
When the Greek skins were leaked all of them showed shards and cells but when they were released some of them were cell only
3 -
Ummm...So? I'm pretty sure people would rather have Michael Myers with 2 skins than his bootleg with 7. Plus, didn't Konami give PH 3 skins and Cheryl like 3 legendary's? One of which can be bought with cells?

For real?? Damn. I was so pumped when I saw it! I didn't care much for any of the Greek skins so I guess that's why I didn't see it before?
Sorry y'all, false alarm. We gotta pay for ######### still lol

If they couldn't afford it, I don't think they would pursue any licensing and far as I understand all licensing is brought off ,do honestly think a company would allow anybody to purchase something on basically you're saying layaway, the may be a few incentives the company receives in the first week or month but after that they completely own the rights to the characters.Theres devs who've literally said I play you're game man I'm sure some at Konami do and the linked cosmetics are just to keep the characters integrity much like why we didn't get a certain cosmetic for Myers because the other company didn't want there character unrecognizable.
