sooo, technician now no longer muffles gen noises?
I checked out Technician (its level was 2 if it matters) and it was useless. It didn't make gen repair sounds more silent, it seemed to not work at all.

Yeah I tried testing it out a few days ago and noticed it doesn’t quiet gen repairs anymore. Now the only use of the perk is just the 50% notification silencer on a failed skill check :/

this is sad. with the obnoxious new gen noises this would have been an indirect buff to technician
4 -
That's going to need a serious fix, shame that when it would do it's best work it does literally nothing.

Who use that perk in first place?
0 -
Well maybe someone who is intrigued by the new gen souns...but it doesn't work anyway
6 -
Sounds like a bug. It should be fixed relatively soon... Although sounds are messed up to all kinds of hells and Iron Will has been bugged for years, so perhaps audio glitches aren't exactly top, or even lower middling, priority.

The description is incorrect; the perk is not supposed to reduce the volume, just the maximum hearing range.
Source: Old videos.

It has the potential to be one of the best perks for rushing gens but is RNG based.

It would reduce the amount of noise your clunks make when repairing gens so the killer wouldn't know you're on it. With the new animations plus the stalling sounds Technician no longer provides that feature.
A good buff could be to completely silence the stalling sounds.

I'm glad it doens't work then. We don't need a perk for "improving" one of the main problems in this game, the genrushing.

What?

A friend of mine has old videos that prove otherwise. It reduced the distance at which they're audible, yes, but doesn't reduce the actual volume. Once I return I should be able to post some links.

Totally useless perk that should be reworked anyway - hopefully this is a sign they're not bothering to update it because they're planning to totally change it

Yall acting like technicians sound reduction did anything before lol

according to this it's working?

Tbh technician should make the gen working sound silent unless the killer is right up to the gen, eg within 4 or so meters. So many perks need just 1 change to their numbers to make them useful eg what they did with tinkerer. So ######### frustrating that BHVR won't ever do changes like this with the hotfixes and mid-chapter patches etc. Would actually make the game fun and interesting with perks becoming more or less useful each week.

hmm, according to this footage Technician is actually working, but I am still annoyed because before the implemention of new gen repair noises this perk also muffled repairings for Survivors drastically as well. Right now from the Survivor perspective I just don't feel the job of the perk which makes me kinda frustrated.

Would it make Technician too OP if we turned the 50% explosion prevention into 100% (but it would still pause repairing upon an explosion)? It would take up a perk slot after all, but it would drastically help those who can't hit skill checks.

I’d consider taking it as a main perk then.
Everytime I let go of a gen it blows up. Apparently its just a skillcheck loading as you let go I heard but I’m convinced gens are randomly programmed to explode as you let go.
If Technician was 100% prevention it would be pretty strong. 3 of these letting explosions avoided and you’d save yourself 24 seconds of gen time.
Downside is it would completely nullify Huntress Lullaby if anyone wanted to use that.

I see. What about simply 100% preventing the noise from appearing upon an explosion, but still having a penalty and small stop in repairing?

Don't feel too bad, you get Iron Will for free! Those gen repairing sounds will be the last thing I hear before you vanish into the void despite being wounded, sprinting, and chain vaulting. I'll be the Blight circling a tree because one of the leaves kinda looked like the same shade as your shirt.

Ummm,. isn't Technician suppose to reduce how far away THE KILLER can hear the generator and not muffle the generator sound 100%? And isn't it suppose to affect killer's and not survivor's besides the 50% of the gen not blowing up?

There are the "working on it" sounds and the "gen noises" sounds. Looks like all the new sounds (which are all pretty obnoxious and distasteful) got all put into the latter category regardless of what category they actually should have been put in.
