Struggling to get outta the greens without using the small pp build. I'm having a lot of fun with head on and Q&Q has some nice mobility options for me; I don't have to cut around the mazes as much as just leap over them.

It's an alright build, but I'd personally switch Iron Will to a more altruistic perk like BT or We'll Make It.
And Head on is very fun but also well, the worst exhaustion perk. If you like Quick and Quiet you can try using Lithe instead, goes really well with it.

Being red ranks is most dependent on skill, followed by being a SWF team, followed by perks. @MrLimonka had it right, consider an altruisitic perk, your fellow survivors living longer or being healed faster is more of an indirect buff to you than it may feel like. But ultimately skill is most important.
Edit: Actually, if you're solo surviving, use Kindred. That's the most crutch perk out there for solo.

It's a fun build. This is typically run with Inner Strength instead of Iron Will.
Getting out of green ranks is a matter of understanding how the emblem system works and partially some skills.
If you want a rank-up build I suggest either Sprint Burst or Dead Hard, then Borrowed Time and Decisive Strike. The last perk could be a healing perk (including Adrenaline), or informational such as Bond or Kindred. Repair a gen, get a safe unhook, run the killer for a little bit and try to last at least a few minutes in the trial.

You dont require any perks to rank up as a survivor ... (same goes for Killer red ranks might be a bit rough but still).
Also stay in greens / purple you dont want to rank into red anyway (huge queue times only a few killers being played).

A gen, a totem, a safe unhook, a heal and two chases. That's what you need, give it take a bit. It's what I got for, and I rank up like crazy. Been using Fixated/SB/Inner Strength/Kindred.

Be careful with Head On btw.
I successfully slapped a Jane in the middle of her Head On, downing her and me getting stunned.

It's just a fun build, not really a strong build.

You don't find it jarring at all to go without Iron Will? (Iron Will has always been my crutch.) It seems off to me to let the killers hear me being injured ifI can help it.

I despise Iron Will. It removes breathing, a significant issue that still has not been addressed.
Edit: I should clarify, it's not like I blame people for running the perk, I just hate how jarring it is for me as a survivor to be some freaky undead, and how annoying it is when I'm playing killer to literally not be able to hear survivors.
