Continued discussion on Unbreakable
I posted a discussion earlier today talking about the two perks No Mither and Unbreakable and it was met (surprisingly) with some good counter arguments.
People agreed that my idea for No Mither, while very similar to pretty much everyone else's, is a good change. However, lots of people said that my idea for Unbreakable would make the perk "useless" and that the perk is fine how it is.
I find it hard to believe that people who play both sides think that Unbreakable is fair, whether it's paired with Decisive Strike or not, survivors having the ability to pick themselves up at a 25% faster recovery rate and being able to heal at the cost of only being able to use it once is too strong, especially when every survivor has it equipped, which is most of the time.
One thing survivors can't stand is getting slugged, however, it's sometimes a mandatory strategy killers need to use if the survivors are genuinely gen rushing. HOWEVER, I'm aware that some killers like to do nothing BUT slug and let everyone bleed out just to annoy the survivors and ruin their day. In that situation, Unbreakable is fine, though the perk isn't refined enough to counter that specific kind of slugging.
So, with all that said, here are a few other ideas I've had for making Unbreakable less powerful-
- Turning the 25% faster recovery into a 25% SLOWER recovery while the rest of the perk stays the same. This would lessen it's synergy protentional with Decisive Strike, making it take longer to get up so you have less time on your crutch's timer.
- Unbreakable stays how it is, though it's now a perk that has to be activated. When you are in the dying state and another survivor goes down, you now have the ability to both recover at a faster rate AND pick yourself up. When the perk is inactive, you simply recover at the normal rate and do not have the ability to pick yourself up. This activatable design is meant to specifically counter and punish the scummy way of slugging while the more strategic version of slugging goes unpunished.
Like I said before, I can't understand how people think this perk is fine how it is while tons of people, including the people who say it's fine, hate playing against it. I understand there may be bigger perks to get a shot from the nerf gun, but the nerfing has to start somewhere, and I think it should start with a perk that downright denies a mandatory strategy killers need sometimes.

1- good 2- useless

Let me get this straight you are nerfing unbreakable when it's doing its job well which is to counter slugging the only thing it was made for. People have agreed it's better to nerf DS unbreakable is fine alone.

"HOWEVER, I'm aware that some killers like to do nothing BUT slug and let everyone bleed out just to annoy the survivors and ruin their day."
This almost never happens. I play probably way, way more than the average player and the last time that happened to me was months ago. Extremely rare and when it does happen at least someone was being very toxic to the killer.
I actually like both your options. One gives it a downside and the other gives it a situational requirement. This is something all the second chance perks need.
Similar to your second option, but just make the perk only active when 2 or more survivors are downed. Even just there would be fine.

How would 2 be useless? It counters the scummy style of slugging while keeping the rest of the perk stays the same, how it should in my opinion.

The only change to Unbreakable that I really want to see would be to make it COMPLETELY deactivate after its primary effect is used in a trial. As in, a survivor who picked themself up from Dying State would no longer have the 25/30/35% increased recovery speed.
That's all. Otherwise I think it's in a fine spot.

I have no problem with Unbreakable getting nerfed. But only if slugging becomes impossible (I.e., after20-40 seconds, the survivor automatically recovers). Because once UB gets nerfed, everyone will ######### about deliverance.
while we’re at it, let’s nerf camping. For killers that remain within 16m of a hooked Survivor, all gens progress 10% every 10 seconds.
I’m not being serious. I just find it funny when people slug, but then whine about UB. The only counter to slugging. Boo hoo. Enough already

because its super situational, its like running slippery meat just in case you play a trapper

Why are you complaining about Unbreakable when you can literally slug for as long as their dying state bar is up and whenever you feel like it?
The perk is literally situational, the only reason it has become meta is because slug rates have spiked.
You have games like RE where you CANNOT do that. The game resets that player to a different zone. They did it right because it stops people from abusing slugging.

Unbreakable is perfectly fine. The perk is designed to counter slugging. The counter is already there: don't slug.
Stop complaining.
3 -
slugging is almost mandatory against comp teams, saying dont slug is like saying throw the game
4 -
Exactly what I'm saying. People do this whenever the idea of nerfing Decisive Strike comes up, you get these people who say "Just don't tunnel" when the killer clearly isn't, you're just abusing a busted perk and don't want it to change.
2 -
Well, any killer can slug unlike every killer has Trapper's super specific power.

my point is its still situational. The first suggestion would be much better

My whole point in nerfing Unbreakable is to make my previous post involving No Mither stand out more and possibly become more viable. I would leave this perk alone if No Mither wasn't in the equation. But if No Mither were to get buffed, Unbreakable would still be the better perk because it has a miniscule downside for a massive upside.

THIS is what people need to understand.
Hell, slugging isn't even that good. You need to tunnel or camp against good squads (of course doing it effectively).

you really really dont tho

Unbreakable is in a good spot, doesn't need any changes.
It's a perk where the killer literally chooses whether you'll be able to use it or not. Not to mention it's a very situational perk.

I think the main build I have an issue with is Unbreakable, DS, Tenacity, and Soul Guard. Tried it in custom, it's a nightmare

I don't even bother with Unbreakable; I find it to be a weak perk. I'd rather have several other perks in place of unbreakable. I understand the appeal I guess, but I just can't justify taking off any of the regular perks I use to squeeze that in.

the only change i want to unbreakable is to disable it if ds is active. other than that it’s completely fine.
if you dont want someone using unbreakable, don’t slug.

Not exactly. Camping and Tunneling are always scummy ways to play killer, Slugging is an actual strategy killers can use that still give survivors a chance. Slugging is used to push people off generators so they can come get their comrades and slow the game down so the killer has a better chance to win. Unbreakable completely removes this strategy because of some killers using slugging in the scummy way.

Well, they have spiked due to the ruin nerf that revealed how unbalanced gen times really are.
