I have found the most optimal survivor build

Hi everyone.

After days of theorycrafting and testing, I may have found the most optimal build in DbD.

Foremost, I want to point that this will work better with Ace. (I'll explain why later on).

So the build consists of Sprint Burst, Spine Chill, Resilience and Self-Care.

Let's move into why I do think this is the best build.

First off, we know for a fact that Ace has the quietest grunts.

So we can use it at our advantage.

The way you should play this build is abusing the 99% heal so that you get quicker gens, but not merely.

Spine Chill will let us know when a killer is approaching. Now considering that you are still injured, Sprint Burst will help us gaining as much distance from the killer to have a loop which benefits us. You might think what do I mean by benefiting us.

Well it's quite easy. Any loops that provides a good windows will do the job (in total, roughly translated as 15% vault speed since it's the main point of using these perks).

Now, two different things can happen.

The killer will drop the chase (theoretically the better choice for him), or he will continue. Ace has quiet grunts so he might lose you due to that, but if he finds you, you can loop him in the most optimal setup for quite a while UNTIL self-care gets his use.

Let's suppose that now he is catching up to you because you've been looping him for too long while being injured.

Simply tap Self-care to get your two health bars, get another hit (another sprint burst, right?), and again from the distance you covered, you already got your Sprint Burst timer back (more likely).

It's redundant then.

If he continues chasing you, 4 gens will be popped from a single chase. If he isn't, it will let you some time to get your 99% heal back, do a gen which again will give you a free Sprint Burst and your quicker heals and gen speed.

All this, while being quiet.

Simply now imagine playing against 4 survivors that are using flashlights and toolboxes (since they don't need med-kits), Ace, with this build.

I can tell you it's a nearly guaranteed gg for survivors.

I'm looking for counterplays to this build as I haven't found any.

Cheers!

I don't really think there's an "optimal" survivor build, what I think there is is 4 people in an SWF coordinating their builds together to maximize output, that is guaranteed to be the most optimal and powerful, even if it might not work as well in solo.

And just as a general standpoint I think any build that you can make work is an "optimal" build. As a generally solo player myself my most optimal build (for solo) would be Spine Chill, Kindred, Self-Care and Adrenaline (although this last perk slot is more free for rotation depending on what I'm feeling). These perks make me as self-sufficient as possible providing me all kinds of information as well as abilities which can keep me healed when I don't have anybody else to do so for me.

Pair that up with a medkit or a toolbox, and that is one fine build if you ask me, what more could a solo player ask for.

I heavily dislike 2 of those perks and only actively use one. So, even if it is optimal in one form or another I think I'll stick with playing whatever perks I feel like playing.

This, self care and no Kindred? Damn... I believe the most optimal build is the one that helps you against whoever you die the most to, for example Spine Chill if it's GF, Fixated for Spirit or Freddy, BT for Bubba, etc,

The point of running self-care is to get stuck at 99% heal and then simply tap it whenever you are getting hit. But until then you need to abuse the Resilience benefits combined with Spine Chill to gain as much time/distance.

This could also work with a med-kit, I reckon. But I'm not seeing what else you could put instead of this, considering chances are you won't even get hooked a single time if again ALL survivors are optimal.

Self-Care isn't as bad as people make it to be. To make it work to its full potential, you need it anyway.

I forgot to mention but Resilience does stack with Self-Care.

It might not seem much, as it reduces only 3 seconds.

But it's far from enough to make it relevant considering the main aspect of getting 99% heal.

    Default (no toolbox) repair speed is 80 / 1 = 80s.

    With Resilience repair speed is 80 / 1.09 = 73,4s

If you take Resilience, you can win 6,6s per generator.. BUT, if you use self-care, you lose (16 / 0.5=) 32s to 99% your health every time you do it. It make Resilience meaningless. You need at least Emergency Med-Kit with the best healing speed add-ons, but even at 180% speed healing take (16/1.8=) 8,9s.

Keep in mind that you are not likely to do more than 3 generators. If you do, then its a weird killer + weird teammates and probably they are memeing in a basement or a corner of a map. So, realitically you need to do at least 2 gens to save at least (6.6+6.6-8.9=) 4.3s.

Also, you must get injured before you can do it... and 4.3s become meaningless, too.

If you want to waste killers time hurting yourself and healing back, then you better pair Self-care with Botany.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It may be an optimal build for you, but not everyone enjoys playing those perks. Everyone has their own opinion on what is optimal for them. One build could be pure garbage to another. It's all a matter of opinion really. Though, that build is a good one, for me personally, I find it quite boring. Each to their own though, so if you enjoy using that build, more power to you! 😀

IS/DS/Q&Q/SB. Do gens, jump in locker when killer is close. Zero counterplay efficiency.

DS/UB/DH/SG. Do gens in the killers face with zero repercussion or requirement for locker. Top that.

I already run this build and have for about 2 months now. Only difference is Lithe instead of Sprint Burst.

Everyone's gonna get flak for ANY post on here unless you go out of your way to make it wholesome or memes.

Just look at majority of my discussions on here that have legitimate criticism.

Agreed Decisive Strike, Unbreakable, Dead Heart and Soul Guard with 4 survivors running it is so ridiculous. How many second (and third...) chances can you fit into a match^^

If everyone was running the same "Best" build all you'd see is DH, DS, UB, Iron will. Counters pretty much all the good killers.

I understand you're view on that build but id trade self care with DS.

Possibly, as a situational perk, I would consider Adrenaline to be at the top.

Especially in combination with our build.

So, you will have to bring a med-kit, and use Adrenaline instead of Self-Care.

Repetitive pattern, keep doing 99% heals, do generators, once your med-kit is fully used your team and you probably did 4 generators or so and then pop Adrenaline.

    This could work as well.

Your biggest hurdle with this build is going to be progression slowing perks and add -ons. Freddy with his binding add-ons, sloppy boogers, Thana, and his blood pools are going to slow you from healing, and you're going to be slowed on loops. Plus you're grunts are louder in the dream world. This is why I hate Freddy.

I like the eye in the sky build

Dark sense - Up to 6 aura's per match including a valuable one when exits are powered.

Alert - Aura every time killer breaks pallet or kicks gen. Plenty of times per match.

Breakdown - Aura of killer shown after being hook saved. Helps avoid running staright at the killer and helps combat tunneling.

Iron Will - Helps with hiding if the aura updates fail 😅

This. I DO actually use Sprint Burst on Ace because it's kinda unexpected on him in addition to damage control.. And I DO use Spine Chill to give me warning about stealth killers. But I ALWAYS run Kindred with Open Handed for optimal information. This build has been really reliable for information control and run it a lot. If you are ok with shorter range Kindred, Deliverance is a good trade-off for Open Handed, imo.

Ash is the best right now as he makes no noise at all.

    Resilience

    Unbreakable

    Sprint Burst or Dead Hard

    BT

    Nop, Ace is the quietest.

Also, Unbreakable is too situational, Sprint Burst is better than Dead Hard, and Borrowed Time is low-key situational.

Partially because if every survivors run Sprint Burst, it's pretty much a guaranteed escape most of the times, thus making it worthless.

You use self care how dare you! 😲

Ash is bugged. He has free Iron Will, Q&Q, and BL.

The fact that Self-Care is in the 'most viable build' is laughable. Why have the vault build if you are just going to heal before a chase?

I have pointed that optimally you might need a med-kit and Adrenaline in order to make it work completely.

Sprint Burst, Spine Chill, Resilience and Self-Care.

Sprint Burst: Not Reliable for long chases, or extending chases as an Exhaust perk. A good killer will mind game you guessing where you are going, or simply chase you till your boost runs out. Looping as normal, but now you are at disadvantage exhausted with no perk to extend the chase. Good to get to a safe are if your new to the game, but not good in higher level play.

Spine Chill: Useful for new players to get used to other aspects of the game without having to worry to keep an out for the killer. Relying on it solely however will become a crutch for you, and without it you will get a better sense of being aware of your surroundings, and learn to track the direction of the Killer.

Resilience; Good players take a long time to even get injured. This perk is useless when you are skilled enough at the game without No Mither.

Self-Care; Self healing takes too long, it's faster with a med-kit and someone to heal you. Since in high level play you are mostly matched in 2's and are aware of the positioning of your team, having someone heal during safe downtime becomes simple. Good suggestions; just before completing a gen, when the killer is in a long chase, and under a pallet.

    Now that I have effectly tore down your gross looking build;

Solo Survivor w/ Emergency Med-Kit (Abdominal Dressing, Self Adherent Wrap)

Borrowed Time, Dead Hard, Decisive Strike, Iron Will

This is probalby the greatest survivor build you can run. When you are skilled at survivor you are already very good at being aware of your surroundings, and the layout of all the maps. Using this build I use what I call the 3 CHRS method (3 CHRS: Cleanse 3, Heal 3, Repair 3, Save 3). Ensuring you meet at least the objectives of the 3 CHRS method you almost guarenteed iri's in all emblem catagories if you escape, and at least gold even if you die, at the same time maximum bloodpoints. Before you say "you get more bloodpoints from WGLF" WGLF isn't reliable enough to try and farm bloodpoints off of, so optimizing the emblem system has so far worked much better.

    Now a breakdown of the perks, and item;

Borrowed Time guarentee's safe saves (unless the Killer doesn't have a terror radius). You can combo Borrowed Time with Dead Hard to counter camping, by going into make the safe, take a hit, unhook the hooked survivor, then immediatly dead hard through the saved survivor forcing them to take the protection hit. Then you both run away and the person who doesn't get chased get's on a gen or heals.

Dead Hard is just the best exhaust perk in the game. Extends chases, can be used to dodge attacks, and I even sometimes use to to get places faster, like that last second into a survivors second hook phase timer. Unlike the other exhaust perks that have special conditions, this exhaust perk can be used at the push of a button, and is much more reliable.

Decisive Strike is a second chance perk that everyone knows not to leave home without. Get off hook by someone with borrowed time, run a bit, take hit for speed and activates BT's protection, then if you still havn't gotten somewhere safe, get downed and DS them (if the Killer doesn't just wait out the timer). Guarentee's escaping during EGC, and immunity when doing gens. Don't forget locker cheese.

Iron Will is amazing for hiding in plain sight. You escape so many chases by simply walking away, because in most maps the blood stains on the ground are incredibly difficult to see, and you're not making any noise anyways. You can even hide in lockers without groaning constantly which is another plus. It's like just being uninjured, expect blood is pouring out of you.

Emergency Med-Kit has an excellent self-healing speed, and good amount of charges. Using it with Abdominal Dressing, and Self Adherent Wrap makes it excellent at both. Better than Rangers Med Kit, because Emergency Med Kit gives a self healing buff, and same reason compared to other med kits. You will get 3-4 good heals out of this, and I reccomend only using it for self healing as healing others is fast enough without an item or perks. If you are against Thanatophobia, then you can use it on others. Same with Sloppy Butcher, but remember that if your Med-Kit runs out, you can no longer heal yourself.

This is my go to build. I sometimes swap BT for kindred when I'm playing solo though.
