Wish granted. Survivors can no longer be unhooked from a cage, since cages aren't hooks.

Right. But BHVR wants to defend their functionality by saying they aren't hooks; yet it alerts the killer just the same when a survivor is rescued from one - clearly allowing and encouraging tunneling without DS being usable.

Well ######### else is the point of them. The only benefit of cages AT ALL is them not activating hook perks, and even then the downside of being hidden from the killler, as far away as possible and usually being uncaged in 10 seconds or less make them worthless for the killer.

They never were unhooked from cages. You get "rescue" and "safe rescue" BP events
Btw @GoshJosh so a noitification classifies it as a hook? Sooooo failed skillchecks are hooks? On fast vault, pallents and windows become hooks for a second? What u wanna tell us?

If a PH tunnels, that is their problems, I personnaly go for the unhooker but if I see the unhooked while seeing nobody well sorry 🤷 tbh, I liked seeing cages aura somI cam leave my trail and make myself a challenge before Final Judgement (my challenge was second cage and tormented) so yeah, cages are still not hooks and even if they were, would that really fix tunneling in itself?

Yes, hooks and cages have similarities, but they're not the same thing. It's like walking and sprinting - similar, but not the same.

The explosion is for map awareness since you cant see where the cages are anymore. If a PH is going to waste the time to trek all the way across the map to where you are to tunnel, then he's wasting a ton of time, gens should be popping left and right. You're also assuming he finds the survivor right away and its the one who got caged and not the one who saved them.
Also there's explosion notifications for a lot of things, not just hook saves.
It would be much worse if they were hooks imo, BBQ would reveal survivors right next to you, devour would get free stacks, easy MYC, exc. But I don't tunnel and don't really see a problem with tunneling (I just don't enjoy doing it). I believe if survivors are going to pump out gens, Killers are allowed to kick out a survivor asap if that's what they wanna do.

Playing as PH, the cages just plain suck. The optimal way to use the cages is to tunnel off the hook then cage them...I can’t really think of any other reasons I’d want to cage survivors outside of a flashlight/Sabo squad.
To top it off it’s a pain in the butt to torment survivors and the cages remove torment. One of the best ways to play him is to save torment for the final Judgement which sees cages rarely getting used.
Also the BP gains from the cages just plain suck. They should be on par with the current BP gains from normal hooks.
From the survivor POV, it also sucks. PH can potentially render your build obsolete, your BP gains from cage rescues suck and torment encourages PH to tunnel off hook.

There are several things that give explosion notifications that are not a hook. I'm confused.

So, gens and jigsaw boxes are the same, because they give the killer a notification when the survivor fails a skill check.

I'm still curious whether the Cages of Atonement are actually considered a Hook Action or not.
If they aren't, then Pyramid Head would be the first killer who winds up punished in the Devout Emblem for using his power to full effect (since part of Devout's scoring involves the actual amount of hookings completed, not just the Hook Stage Progression).

If it was a hook, BBQ, MYC, Furtive Chase etc. would also work.
They really aren't hooks. It's even in the name. "Cage". Cage =! Hook.

Wow people will complain about anything these days. The cages have advantages and disadvantages. You can tell this because survivors and killers are both complaining about it in this thread. Its not a hook, it does not work like one. Who cares if it gives a notification. Stop crying about literally everything. There are killers in the game that actually have counterplay and he is not one if them

Explosion notifications don't happen with just hooks, so cages doing them as well isn't contradictory.
I thought this would be about Moris working with hooks, which i do understand.

Honestly cages are not the issue with PH. It's part of his kit, it's going to have downsides for survivors and there is still a downside for the killer considering it spawns the cage across the map from him and there's no aura for him to quickly tunnel it asap. His issue is him not having to commit to his power at pallets and vaults. That's where they need to look at him. They already nerfed his cages properly imo.

Maybe a visual showing the cage being opened or just the noise no visual. Its already pretty strong considering they can't use DS, do a flashlight/sabo save, or get any other benefits. That or maybe a full indicator of it spawns next to someone and they are "unhooked" in under 10. That'd be more balanced.
On a side note, where is our new struggle phase for hooks? I thought they said they were gonna introduce the pyramid head cage struggle to normal hooks?
