It finally happened. I ran into a hacker...

I've been playing this game for four years now, and this is the second time I've run into a hacker. The first time was in 2016 with a speed-hacking Dwight, and since then I've been lucky enough not to run into any. That is, until about fifteen minutes ago.

I'm playing Billy on Sanctum of Wrath, and a poor Bill walks into my chainsaw and lets go on hook. The match had been going on for at most thirty seconds at that point, when suddenly a gen pops on the other side of the map. I didn't think anything of it because it could have been two people, but it didn't take me too much longer to realize something was up.

I down a Nea really quickly and hook her, and then chainsaw to the other side of the map. There are still three gens in that area, and all of them were at 99%. I see another Nea and hit her, and then she just suddenly vanishes. No scratch marks, she was just gone. Within five seconds she unhooked the first Nea on the other side of the map, which I know because I saw a Claudette and started chasing her while that was happening.

I think the Claudette had bad ping because she ran into a wall and then disappeared, which usually means lag, but I can't be so sure about that. I had two totems in my build and I saw the Claudette get both of them on BBQ, but that doesn't prove if she was doing anything. I run into the hacking Nea and she starts looping me on one of those wooden platform structures, and it's obvious she's running faster than me. I eventually hit her once, and then she just zooms to the other side of the map.

By this point the other two had popped all of the gens and the gates were powered. I managed to down the other Nea and hook her, which is when I see Claudette break my second totem. I find the hacking Nea crouching in a bush and down her, and then suddenly she's full health and running to a door. I chainsaw to the door and manage to down her, but then she just heals again and starts tea bagging. I chainsaw her yet again and manage to pick her up, but she escapes the match while still on my shoulder. Fortunately for me the Nea that wasn't hacking tried to sabo a hook for her and ended up getting downed, but at that point I was too shocked to even care.

I wish I could say that I had been recording the game, but I wasn't. I left a report but I'm not sure if it'll get looked into without any video evidence. This is only the second time I've personally run into a hacker, but I've noticed that it's really become a problem lately. Ever since Deathslinger's release, I've seen so many streamers run into hackers that it's not even funny. I hope the Devs do something about whatever software they're using soon, this is getting ridiculous.

Congratulations, I enountered my first one last month, and the 2nd one on the same day, it was rather interesting, 3 years of none then 2 on the same day.

Twice in one day? That's pretty impressive. Hopefully neither of us will ever see a third.

I have yet to find a hacker but I encountered two blatant lagswitchers on survivors like 2 weeks ago.

What rank are ya'll playing at. I'm rank 1 killer west coast of north america, I play about 5 hours a day (1200 hours so far) and I run into 1 definite hacker (able to get up instantly from being downed over and over, impossible to hook on any hook, has names like "you can't hook me", spams hooking and unhooking himself) every 2-3 days and 1 probably hacker (suspiciously faster than me at loops even when I slide on the surface, seems to both sprint burst and dead hard) every day. I've had to start recording all of my games because of it, in case one shows up. I hope I have your luck from now on.

I run into Hackers at least once each day I put in a good long stretch of games. Some are mild hacks, and some are outrageous.

EU servers here, and when I was playing almost 24/7 from June (when I got my pc) - Mid-august I didn't see a single one. Interesting how NA people seem to have a significantly larger amount of hackers, especially since everyone claims Russia to be hack central.

I ran into my first yesterday. It was absolutely clear they were hacking (they could put themselves "on a hook" at will but it wouldn't hurt them, they basically just hung wherever they were standing but it healed them and I couldn't pick them up or interact with them when they did it. They also could Sonic the Hedgehog speed away and instantly heal their fellow survivors).

I'd be more irked but I was doing my Pig daily (4 dash attacks). I rarely use the dash attack in the game so being able to just continually dash attack the hacker let me get my daily done with ease so I can only be so mad at them :D

Last time I saw hackers was like 2 years ago I think. Speed hacking Wraiths on Xbox. Literally found and downed all 4 of us spread out across the map in about 20 seconds. I don't get the point of it.....

As killer I'm only rank 9 because I don't kill outside of challenges or survivors letting go. The hacking Nea I ran into was Rank 2 so either matchmaking just hated me this morning or one of the other survivors was in a SWF with her that allowed her to get in a lobby with me.

I feel bad for you and Slival. Once a day or every two days is nuts, hope things get better for you both.

Like I said in my original post, this is the first time I've seen one in like three years and only the second overall I've ran into. I don't know much about this Russia being hack central thing, but for most people I'm pretty sure finding an obvious hacker is rare. Be glad you haven't run into one, it can be a frustrating experience.

It's crazy just how many things they're able to do. I probably wouldn't have been as irritated if I wasn't going for the devout emblem challenge. I've gotten so many emblems one hook away from iridescent that I want to scream.

I've seen some recent videos of stuff like that happening too. I just don't get how it's even fun for them, like what are they even trying to accomplish? You'd think if they were trying to get a reaction or something they'd talk trash in end game chat or for console send messages, but they never do.

Oh no, I've run into plenty of them, and used to have a mate who was one (he got banned lol). I know they're frustrating as ######### to face, and to play with, but I just haven't encountered one in like, the past year and a half by now

I had some issues with hacking in the past and I DC'ed whether I dislike to DC. People that is looping me, go rounding a hill and when I get them there are no scratch marks nor the survivor (and yes they can walk but as a killer I am faster) can be seen anywhere, even thought the area had not many places to hide. Survivors that, I look somewhere else to chase a Claudette and they insta-heal, and before you ask, no they didn't 99% heal themselves since I have been chasing them and they didn't try to heal, and I only left the chase for 5 secs, and no, there are no "For the people" users.

I have seen videos of survivors with OoO that are outside the map walls, meaning the killer is already in the border of the map, near a gate, and they are beyond it.

Personally If this were a single player I wouldn't care at all, but being a multiplayer BHVR should do something against those people.

Lag switching can be a tricky issue but one that they need to deal as well.

Ah, I see. Yeah it can be really frustrating, but like I said to the other person it really irritated me because of my challenge. I'm trying to balance online college and getting this rift done and running into a hacker now of all times was just awful.

Yeah, I couldn't care less for cheating in a single player game. But considering that this game is multiplayer and we have a limited time to get our rift stuff done this needs to be handled. I just wish that I had been recording so that my report would get looked into.

A shame you didn't record this. I came across a hacker a month or 2 ago, I recorded he got banned.😁 I was playing survivor as well but had clear sight on several things he did to prevent the killer from grabbing/hooking/downing him. I record everything and just delete the random vids.

I played a game recently where I downed a Kate and while standing on top of her aimed at a David on a nearby gen. I miss my shot on David, reload my harpoon and see that Kate is already up and out of sight. In less than ten seconds? I felt really dirty for some reason, like, shocked. It wasn't a pleasant experience.

Yeah it is a shame. I don't ever record my games because I usually never run into stuff like this, I don't even have any recording software on my computer.

That sounds really suspicious. Definitely too fast for Unbreakable or a syringe. Did you end up downing her again later?

I recently ran into what I believe was a hacking Trapper. I had jumped on an alt to try playing with a Steam Controller and in like my second game I come across this guy that keeps finding injured Survivor's and downing them. Myself included at the very end. At first I thought "Okay, just a smurf or rank reset Killer with BBQ and/or Nurse's so gg" but nope! Didn't have either. Just some other level 1 perks.

I did, and I was able to hook her. I facecamped her because I didn't want her to pull any more tricks. She got saved by a Jane who died in her place and she escaped.

I don't understand cheating. It takes the fun out of the game for everyone, including the cheater.

I've run into a couple (and after a bit of research, I even know exactly what they are using...yikes).

Basically - resetting or manually adjusting ranks, infinity top tier addons and items, clipping through exit games and being able to see the killer in the lobby (possibly).

I also luckily rarely had run ins with blantent hackers probably less than 10 over years and thousands of hours of gameplay. Unfortunately, I also know that people are discreetly hacking and probably not being noticed as well since when I'm playing survivor I've watched 105% or 110% survivors running alongside of me and just gaining distance toward whatever they're running towards. Nothing like a "little crutch" to feel better about themselves by having permanent Hope-like effects all game but the Killer will still eventually down them so they're less likely to be reported (I would assume). I submitted that video with a ticket back in like 2018 but got no feedback from it to this day other than they are "looking into it". I'll assume that there are at least a dozen more cases that go unnoticed per player though

Being able to see the killer in lobby is a known exploit at the moment just by a viewing an unencrypted DBD file while sitting in lobby... apparently they tried to fix it by encrypting it when the match finishes but for whatever reason the file is still viewable while in lobby and the match is ongoing (according to another user on these forums). Probably should be addressed but most folks aren't in the know... for now.

Bugger. I thought that they'd fixed that way. Sigh, well that explains a lot.

Sucks that she managed to escape. I really can't think of anything that would have gotten her picked up so fast, definitely suspicious.

Completely agree, it doesn't make sense.

Your comment made me have a flashback to that one Otzdarva video where he kept complementing how good this Nea was and then she walked through the exit gate in front of him. Such a plot twist. And yeah, the seeing the killer thing is done through the files. Whenever I do a Doctor daily I always get at least two people with Calm Spirit. Maybe one day this'll be fixed.

Yeah, there's no way to tell if someone's hacking if they aren't being stupid about it. It's impossible to know how many of those types I've run into over the years, but I want to have at least some faith in our community so I'll pretend the number's zero.

Since they started crossplay I've only seen 3 hackings. 2 Were teleporting Killers and 1 was a Dwight that was downed and crawled so fast I felt scares as he headed my way then DC'ed. I was actually scared at him for some reason, lol.

i heard about people saying PC players hack all the time and was nervous about playing with them, but it hasnt been too much trouble for me. Fortunate.

I had a hacking nea in my game too I was in a match and I used a mori (last few match I just about had it so) start of the match I find nea down her hook her at this point I go to gen someone got her off hook I find her down her again going to mori when she start crawling away fast like running crawling like spider or something I got her tho after 7 or 8 min chasing her crawling body

there speed crawling hack? there got to be and I also wasn't recording wish I was.

Weird. In EU, got almost 1000 hours. Not a single hacker encountered during all that time.

I went against a Spirit who knew EXACTLY where I was after hooking someone. Like literally phased into my exact location.

I was running Distortion.. And there weren't any gens near me..

Could be Stridor + Whispers as I can accurately find even healthy survivors with my headphones alone once my Whispers lights up (It's disabled during phasing itself). This wouldn't be effected by Distortion which directly counters (or informs you about) aura reading addons or perks only.

Did you stick around to see what he was running in the post game scorescreen?

No, but I was on the opposite end of the map and I saw with kindred that the other two were not close to me, and all the gens were finished near me.

I'm %100 certain she was hacking.
