Stop tunneling!
There needs to be something in place against tunneling rather than borrowed time and ds, why do I get punished just because I chased you around for 4 gens...split off and get people off the gens! Even I know this as the killer. But yet there's that one guy that ruins your game by going for you right when you get off the hook everytime.

'...right when you get off the hook.' Shouldn't that blame be placed in your team mate for doing an unsafe hook, then? They pulled you off, and apparently didn't have BT, or body blocked. Why should the killer go after a stronger target at that time? Because good manners?

The only way to counter tunneling and hook camping would be to rework the hook system.
Pyramid Head set a great example on how to rework the hook system but they haven't implemented anything like it afterwards, it's a great idea and they need to focus more on that.
17 -
Punish stupid mistakes and graciously take a trade, still putting the survivors in a bad position, or worst comes to worse, just slug the recently unhooked.
1 -
no.
2 -
@PigMainClaudette If you can get it, sure, I don't see why not. But if the savior just runs to a strong position, leaving their unhooked companion in a bad one, it's not a hard decision. It's not the killers responsibility to forgive bad team mates.
I'm not excusing hard core tunneling, but half these tunnel threads are usually the fault of bad team mates, not just the killer alone.
14 -
In the case for me it doesn't matter because of stealth killers, there is no way of telling what is a safe hook alot of the time. especially with the wraith that crosses the map like a cheetah and get back to the hook so quick

get over tunelling, survivors. Its necessary against good teams to reduce the # of people working gens. Face camping is okay to complain about, but tunelling is 100% valid, especially with perk combos like sloppy butcher and bloodhound. There are plenty of playstyle ways to combat it too, not just perks. Distractions, look alikes, body blocks, be good at looping till the killer drops chase, good hiding in the first place, etc.
1 -
That's total bs, why single out one person and make his or her play experience suck because the "team is good" I only play solo, and I average rank 6-4 I'm no where near great at the game I can't help it if I luckily get good teammates or not.
5 -
No.
Firstly, if I have someone hooked I'm not going to camp them, but if I hear or see someone running towards the hook I'll certainly be patrolling. My goal is to grab them, not down you - but if it happens, it happens. Just take it on the nose, much as killers have to do regarding other stuff.
Secondly, if I'm tunneling you, one (or more) of three things is true:
- You decided to teabag or flash me. Well, you wanted my attention and now you have it.
- I consider you a high threat target. If you are a Blendette with a toolbox or anyone with a key, it makes tactical sense to eliminate you first.
- We are heading towards the final gen being done and I've yet to secure more than 1 kill. It's going to be someone, and it's you this time. You'll survive.
11 -
Sure. As soon as Survivors stop working on a gen at 90% to politely and graciously point at it, encouraging me to kick it. I'm still in a bad position, after all, with a nearly finished gen nearby!
7 -
Stop rushing gens and we can have a talk about not killing one of you asap.
If you want to rush gens, we want to rush kills. It's that easy.
If I start a game, find a survivor, have a very VERY fast first hook and a gen already dies with us not even playing a minute, you simply ask for a trade off.
11 -
get over gen-rushing, killers. Its necessary against good killers to reduce the # of kills the killer can get. Teabagging is okay to complain abouy, but gen-rushing is 100% valid, especually with combos like Prove Thyself and a BNP. There are plenty of playstyle ways to ckmbat this too, not just perks.
Doesn't feel nice when it's flipped, eh?
5 -
Click your flashlight? that's a tunneling
Tbagging at a pallet? that's a tunneling
Popping a gen in front of the killer? that's a tunneling
Bringing object of obsession? oh you better believe that's a tunneling.
29 -
Absolutely disagree, first off i only T bag if the killer is being toxic to me first, I never taunt and never use the flashlight just to troll. The mindset that because the gens are being done to quick or that you're being chased around and can't land a kill or that the person is a certain survivor is why the game became toxic to begin with.
At the end of the day some sweaty killers are turning my potentially fun decent length matches into a 3 min tunnel fest of frustration. But this will never be addressed and fixed because it's "viable" to just tunnel and all the killer mains are happy with it.
2 -
Not all survivors do this though... Like me for example. yet I get to enjoy my whole game on the hook.
1 -
At least they're giving you a chance to get some emblems and BP! That's more than a tunneller gives you.
0 -
You think this should be a game fix then And not an adapted play style? Start complaing more then, the game won't get fixed if we're not complaing about the right issues.
1 -
That's actually not a bad idea. If meathooks teleported around the map like cages, while it would make punishing "gens before friends" harder and would be an issue needing looked into, it could also open up some interesting possibilities from both sides. If the killer is chasing you and no-one else is near the hook, run at it and loop its tile. It gets teleported away, and the survivor can get unhooked (maybe). On the other side, if the team is just rushing unhooks, facecamp for 5 seconds, hook goes away, and there's a chase or two just sitting there waiting for you.
1 -
It happens yea, so does nonsense like body blocking, and survivors not leaving a match waiting at the gates. Tunneling is probably one of the best ways for a killer to actually achieve the goal of killing survivors and limiting progression. Unless you'd prefer slugging which is no fun for survivors one bit.
2 -
How does body blocking and waiting at a gate compare to sitting on a hook all game? Not even able to walk around just wiggling your arms around like a chicken.
1 -
I like this.
I really hope they look into more ways to play around the hooks and different ways to hook survivors.
1 -
What if I as a survivor had a perk to root you still for 1 minuet solid? That's what tunneling feels like in comparison. The game has balance issues all around but it needs hooks and tunneling delt with first.

Another member posted a thread in the general discussions board with an idea to a possible solution for this:

It is in the end the survivors own fault when they do get tunneled. See survivors do dictate the pace of the game due to the killer having 0 pressure at the start of the trial, so they basicly decide how this game is going, how they keep their advantage. The more survivors do pressure the objective and gens fly, the dirtier it gets. You want to have a fun chill game? I suggest not to pressure the objective as much, this way the killer can actually just go for another survivor and can give free unhooks.
When you just pump gens, the killer has to tunnel in order to slow it down a bit.
5 -
Use DS, then dead hard to avoid the hook farming, then if the killer still chases after you, jump into a locker as an "F you".
0 -
You're fine to flip it cause I agree. Teabagging is annoying but gen rushing is fine.
1 -
This game is survivor sided as all hell, you dont get to play the power role and try to handicap the weaker side with imaginary rules.
It sucks being tunneled, but killers have to do it sometimes.
2 -
Yeah would be nice if survivors would stop tunneling gens. They should be forced to search for a new gen even if there is one at 50% right before them.
In short: Tunneling happens because the surv made bad plays or got hookfarmed. A Killer can be nice if he sees a poor surv getting farmed. But don't expect it.
There are cases where a Killer ignores everything else and goes after a specific survivor. That's tunneling.

If I could give this all my upvotes I would.
Thanks for making me spit coffee out like the Plague.

Its a good idea but this can easy get abuse
1: survivor can just forget about the hooked survivor and focus the gen when the killer go to check him up he get tp near a survivor
2: the killer chase a survivor the survivor start looping the killer near to hooked guy the hooked guy get tp near a survivor easy escape
1 -
Tunneling sucks, but with current no heal gen rush meta, sometimes it is a necessary evil.
I know with our Swf, if you try to hook each of us once. We will be popping the last gen when you maybe got your third hook.
So as much as I hate it, I understand it.
Plus to OP, if you ran him for 4 gens, is he supposed to just give up on you now? He already committed the whole match to you. Might as well finish the job.
10 -
I personally hate going up against tunnelers. Except there's one acceptation. If it's down to 2 gens or 3 gens and 3 quarters of a gen completed and nobody is dead, then you have to apply pressure somehow or else the match will just be a massive failure for the killer. However that's kind of what I do in desperate times when I want to win, and if some killers do it, well sure it's annoying but if there's no pressure applied on the survivors than that's equally annoying for the killer.
However unless you're talking about first hook 5 gens, saved from hook, chased down while other 3 survivors gen rush the killer because he lacks skill to do anything but tunnel the first guy he catches, then yes that's no longer a strategy but the killer wanting to just be an #########.

until the devs balance this game around fair and square play I will not stop tunneling, sorry not sorry. Dont blame the players, blame the game.
Edit: I dont tunnel every game but only when I go against good teams. If its more casual and slow players I will go more easy on them
4 -
I'm not for the hardcore tunnell but I only solo que also and I can understand when we complete 3 gens and the killer has 2 hooks that they try to tunnell. Even as a solo quer this is a team game at times, body block and TRY to take the aggro. I've had many good games where survivors work together to save and protect the tunneled guy...believe in karma sometimes they come back to save you. Your right not every game do you get decent players but increase ur rank and imo you will increase the odds of getting better teammates. Rank does mean something imo
2 -
This made me laugh way to hard.
1 -
Yep...i always love the feeling when a teammate is running to unhook me with the killer hot on their heels. I almost wish there was an option to kick them away...lol
1 -
Because focusing on one person gets you a kill faster, which means less people on generators? If they didn't have fun because they got tunelled its only cause they suck at looping and escaping.
1 -
No.
:-)

If you run the killer for 4 gens, the killer threw the game just to get you. Why should he give you an easy escape if it took so much time to get you?. If he then camps you, thats actually the confimation that you did very well. Wear that face camp as an honor badge :D.
And why is it a ruined game? You got to loop a killer for a very long time, you either laughing your ass off bc of his faults or being really pumped up because the chase was intense. Being chased is the most fun for many survivor players, and you got a really long there. Don't let your enjoyment being spoilt just bc the killer is mad now. As I said, see it as a victory and move on.
1 -
The way the game is set up tunneling is a very viable strat, sometimes necessary to get a win. As Killer you are in a race to kill survivors before they finish the gens and get out. If you tunnel one person and get them out of the game ASAP it makes the rest of the game much easier. Tunnel one person early can turn a losing game into a 4k. The game rewards that sort of behavior unfortunately. Killers tunnel because it works and against a good SWF sometime the only strategy is to bully the weakest player on the team and put pressure on them that way.
0 -
They should tap gen only once and move to a new gen. :^)
1 -
That's like saying in CSGO, the first person who rushes A should always be allowed to walk up and start defusing before anyone can shoot him, because its "no fun for him if he dies early and has to wait out the rest of the round". If you just hook trade everyone the whole game and don't tunnel someone out early then you will lose as killer. Otz's tips for DBD SPECIFICALLY says you need to get a kill early, and should consistently ignore at least 2 of the players till you secure a kill. Stop whining and get good.
4 -
These killer mains who are saying "stop gen rushing" are being sarcastic. Obviously you want to rush gens, just like killers try to get kills. Its the core goal of the game, and they're clearly okay with you doing gens, so you should be okay with killers trying to kill. Survs gotta rep, killers gotta kill. The toxic things are Face camping and teabagging. They're things that ONLY serve to piss off the other side because they put you at a disadvantage for doing it
2 -
What if I enjoy using the other 50 perks in the game that the devs made and not just using the meta to get ahead?
0 -
Killers having the option to tunnel is what I'm getting at. What if gen progression speeds were slowed down? Well then it would be easier for the killer to wipe a whole lobby. But yet there would still be a few that would choose to tunnel just to tunnel. It's become such a norm that it makes survivors want to gen rush and win faster to not die to a dumb mechanic.
0 -
Tunneling doesn't happen every single match but when it does it's extremely frustrating especially as a solo player like me. I suggest playing survivor for at least a whole day and give me your opinion of being tunneled.
0 -
Stop juking and tea bagging at exits gates ππ»
0 -
Okay what about the rare people who don't do this at all like me? Screw me I guess right tunnel the non toxic players to feel your fulfillment...
1 -
I play survivor and yeah, being tunneled sucks, but it's still crazy easy to loop a killer to the point of disconnecting.
1 -
You act like this isn't reality. We did get over it, and part of that is acknowledging that often tunneling is the best solution to that issue.
The reality is tunneling and gen rushing only have bandaid solutions unless we get a full rework of both main objectives.
You can't complain about tunneling while apologizing for genrushing (such a poor way to describe what we're talking about but it works) and vice versa.
